I somehow confused myself. Mogul Dynasty is still; in Craddocks Avenue or Parade as it is known!

I've been meaning to try Lal Akash in Leatherhead ever since the Epsom branch, which I enjoyed,…read moreclosed down. So, last Friday, my salsa friend and I finally took the opportunity to try it out before we went dancing. The Leatherhead branch is very plush with nice comfy chairs and personalised crockery and chocolates! The staff were very friendly from the moment we walked in, being the perfect mix of helpfulness and not hovering. The menu is quite extensive with some interesting and unique dishes, several of which are in photos to give you and idea of what they look like - where's scratch and sniff when you need it to enhance the pictures? The popaddoms came with 6 chutneys and dips - I'm all about the dips and they went down well. My mango lassi was satisfyingly thick and velvety We settled on the chicken jeera and ghost (lamb) e-laziz. The portions were huge and despite the aim being not to stuff ourselves before dancing, we had little bellies by the time we walked out! The chicken jeera was packed with flavour and was the better dish. The lamb was advertised as hot, sweet and sour. Even for a seasoned curry eater like me, it was a little too hot, especially if you happen to catch a stray fresh chilli. Still, I suppose the menu warned that it would be hot! We will be back as there are still lots of dishes to try on the menu and I'm glad the Lal Akash spirit lives on

However, we had a couple of chicken dishes and both times the chicken was completely overcooked, a little too greasy and the colour of the curries seemed somewhat artificial. Saying that it certainly wasn't the worse curry I have eaten.

I got the chance to have dinner here last week with a friend What had caught my eye was the interesting list of chef's signature dishes, many of which I hadn't seen on other Indian menus before. I had a nice mango lassi and we chewed on some nice popaddoms while perusing the menu. Nice to see the condiments were inclusive with the popaddoms though I could have done with one spicy condiment to balance out the sweet ones We went with stuffed brinjal (aubergine) rings and tandoori gulnehar, also known as pomfret, a fish common in Asian cooking. The brinjal rings were large. The stuffing was a mixture of French beans, button mushrooms, carrots, potato, Indian cheese and spinach. However, this had been so thoroughly mashed together that it was impossible to appreciate the different ingredients. The pomfret had been pan fried, perhaps a little overcooked but the tandoori spices did go well with the firm fleshed fish For main course, we chose the Khyber Pass Rann (lamb shank braised in a robust gravy of onion, ginger, spices and rum) and Karwari fish curry, made with imported fish given flavour by tri-fala, curry leaves and dill. The fish curry was nice in a non descript way and our waiter wasn't able to shed more light on tri-fala other than that it was an Indian spice. However, the outstanding dish of the evening and what earned this place a solid 4 Yelp stars was the lamb shank, cooked to falling off the bone tenderness and given life by spices which gave a sweet and zingy note to the meltingly tender meat Good solid Indian. I'd return for that lamb shank and there are other intersting looking dishes to try

I eat in a lot of Indian restaurants and have never had such poor service, the food was average and although the soft drinks were flat, the wine and lagers were fine. The assortment of our 10 main dishes were all bland with a medium dish tasting the same as a mild! Drinks were delivered and passed across two people having to raise from the chair to receive them, we were ignored when asking for a special dietary requirement and told we could not change the pilau rice that came with the main dish to a vegetable rice! We generally felt unwelcome.. Even being left to just leave while they seemed busy cleaning a few tables! Not even worth a visit!

Great selection of vegetarian options too if there's any vegetarians reading this. I had a Duck Xacutie Supreme which was on the specials menu, so full of flavour and very well cooked, nice and succulent too; I sometimes find duck can get dry but this was brilliant. Honestly one of THE best curries I've ever had. Also only 8 quid, which is decent considering it was duck. All their prices are very good. Another dish we had was the Paneer Tikka Butter Masala which was divine. Lumps of paneer, really well done with a fantastic texture and plenty of creamy sauce with tons of flavor. Thoroughly recommend both dishes. I'm not a fan of the flavour of lamb but tried my dads and the texture was really good, soft and not too chewy so if you like lamb then go for it. Best bhindi bhaji I've ever had also, so definitely recommend that. We got Amchuri Gobi which is a cauliflower based side with other bits in a sauce. Wasn't a fan of this but both my parents really liked it, so who knows. Relatively firm cauliflower. Soft naans, not burnt, good job. Had lemon rice, looked like a piece of art on the place with all the stuff that was in it, tasted really good. Not even sorry for how long this review is, this place is great. Best Indian take away I've had and one of the best Indian meals I've eaten so good job guys, we'll come again :)

I'm very surprised that I'm the first to review this place on Yelp. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent and by far one of the best Indian meals I've ever eaten. Whilst the majority of us have our favourite dishes, I was gently swayed by the waiter to try an alternative variation on my favourite dish - lamb saag. The dish was perfect, a perfect blend of tastes, spices and tastes incredible. I want to say it was called Lamb Sagotti but I might be wrong. Everyone agreed it was a terrific meal and if we ever found ourselves back in Claygate, we would certainly return.
