Mediterranean restaurant in windsor. went on saturday night, and it was busy and there were a couple of musicians playing greek music and singing- they really 'played to the crowd' got people up dancing, and 'made' the atmosphere there. I believe the musicians play every weekend.
Food was good- try the mixed meze starter- not a 'dud' dish among them all!
The mains looked a bit random on the menu- varying from pasta to burgers to koftas to salads- I ususally think this level of variety means a restaurant can't do a specific style well. However, in this case i am pleased to be proved wrong. My fish was great, and my dining partner had completely cleared his plate of lamb koftas before i could nick a taste!
The wine list was really affordable- most expensive bottle was a £26 St Emilion. We enjoyed a very easy drinking pinot grigio, and a delicious rjoja reserva- as recommended by the manager. The only really 'downer' of the night was how difficult it was to get the attention of the waiting staff to order the wine- we wanted a drink while we perused the menu- but i started to get a complex that i was invisible as the waiters rushed passed our table carrying orders, ignoring our 'excuse me's'!
The desserts were equally as successful- but very small portions!
I have walked past many times on week nights- and the place looks virtually empty, but from the evening we had on saturday i think this place deserves more success. However, as it stands i would go on a friday or saturday night- so you get to enjoy the music and arent the only ones there!
