The lady that waited on us, Heather, could not have been more pleasant and efficient. What a pleasant way to end a long driving experiece. Barney's Roadhouse is a gem off the beaten path.

And for one of the very rare times, I wish I could add a sixth star to this place. I think my bartender was Erica, nice older woman. At least that's what it was on my ticket. Top notch hospitality. Place was super clean, they had sports playing on one TV, and had enlightening music playing on the other. This is the way all of America should be. I'm on my no carb kick, so I ordered two grilled pork chops with a side of their signature Brussels, and turnip greens. Hold on for a second, I just got done eating about a half an hour ago, and I just had to wipe the saliva off of my mouth while writing this. First of all, my entire meal was under $18. How these Alabama restaurants give you insane portion sizes, and still make a profit is beyond me. The rest of these restaurants in the country need to take note. My plate was huge, and even though it was my only meal of the day, I was still able to take a portion of my second pork chop back to the truck to enjoy tomorrow with my breakfast. The bartender told me that they hired her son as a cook. If this kid keeps slinging these skillets the way that he is, No doubt he will end up being legendary. My brussel sprouts were super good, my turnip greens were OFF.THE.CHAIN. I make collards at home, and this is the very first time I've actually had greens better than my own. I'm actually considering going in there and buying a quart to have on the truck with me. My pork chops? mannnn, If you know me, you know I cook, and these pork chops were nothing short of amazing. Crisp and crunchy on the outside, super super juicy on the inside, seasoned to perfection. This is the food that dreams are made of ladies and gentlemen. I wasn't going to have supper here tonight, because I still have leftovers from last night, but this is the south. If you have a little bit of intuition, you got to go all in, and then thank yourself later. One of the best meals literally that I've had, since early May. I hope this place keeps cranking out the caliber service and food they have, and I certainly hope I'm back in this part of Bama, Because I will definitely be returning. Five stars, just isn't enough. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. This place always puts a special twist on the food. For example, there was honey on my onion rings and they used Gouda on the Philly cheesesteak. I really enjoyed it and it somehow worked well. This place is always busy for the small town it's in. Service is always very good with a hometown feel. Many tables in the restaurant and some tables outside in the back I believe. Both of us had a pulled pork plate, which included 2 sides and either white bread or cornbread. My sides were Mac and cheese and baked beans. The baked beans were on the sweet side, but good, and the Mac and cheese was some of the best I ever had! My husband's sides were fries, which were stacked high and nicely seasoned, and the onion rings, which were sliced thin and had a light, crunchy batter on them. Our waitress, Erica, was attentive and personable, and we wouldn't hesitate to ask for her on a return trip.

One piece of advice, is avoid the baked beans. They're a bit overly sweet. And to me baked beans should have some bacon in them or something like that. These disappointed a bit. But the barbecue is phenomenal. And to be honest, the thing that really stole the show was at noon they play the national anthem and everybody stands to face the flag, I love the patriotic atmosphere and you can tell that this place is run by people who care. Not do they only put pride in their food, but you can tell that they have pride in their country and I'm coming back just for that reason alone!
