I used Modwella in the past and had wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, my recent attempt to arrange an iron infusion was deeply disappointing.
My treating physicians had reviewed my labs and recommended IV iron because oral iron was worsening my symptoms. The nurse practitioner I spoke with declined treatment based on the company's ferritin cutoff. When I explained my active autoimmune flare and asked that my results be considered in context, he repeated the policy rather than offering to coordinate with my physicians.
When I specifically asked for someone above him to review the situation, he identified himself as the medical director. He had introduced himself as a nurse practitioner, and his handling of the discussion left me questioning whether he had the experience needed to assess my circumstances. Instead of facilitating further review, he said Modwella might not be the best fit for me and offered no escalation.
I found this response deeply insulting and horribly unprofessional. Invoking a leadership title while providing no meaningful avenue for review felt dismissive, especially when two treating physicians had already evaluated my situation.
I was significantly unwell and having difficulty walking--the very reason I sought mobile care. I deserved a respectful explanation and a constructive response. Instead, I experienced an interaction that felt cold and lacking in compassion.
I have since found another local mobile service that treated me respectfully and provided a process for working with my physician. That referral is now underway.
I will not use Modwella again. Patients in a vulnerable condition deserve kindness, respect, and professional communication. read more
