They think they own the park. Literally walk the park in a circle to confront people. If you have a purebred, that's unneutered watch out they get jealous. They're constantly there. It's really sad they need a life outside of the dog park. read more

This is a nice dog park. The small dog area is a bit small and the ground is all dirt so I'm not sure how it would be during wet weather but I have enjoyed it this spring. Patrons have been friendly and seem to pick up well after their animals and also make sure to bring their dog into the applicable side of the park which is nice. There is a small parking lot which makes loading and unloading safe and easy. My pup had an adorable tug of war with some new friends she made at this park after one of them dug up a tree root and I will continue returning to this park when I am in the area. read more

A nice enough dog park. It's divided into 2 sections, one for larger dogs and one for smaller. The small dog area is covered in wood shavings. Makes for a soft ground, but does hide uneven terrain, and I had a couple of missteps and almost went down once. Love that it's mostly shady. read more

Modesto's best dog park hands down. It has separate gated areas for dogs of different sizes. The grounds are well kept. If your dog can't run enough at home this is your best public choice in Modesto. As always, don't rely on other dog owners to properly supervise there dogs. Make sure you are watching yours and that they are licensed, vaccinated, and wormed. I suggest bringing a few dog toys and something fun for you and your dog to do together. I also recommend some water and a water dish especially on those hot days. Both you and your dog will need that hydration after your workout is done. Finally, do not assume all the other dogs are friendly. You never know what can or will set them off on you or your dog. Proceeding with caution is always the best and safest method. read more

When I got my first puppy, I wanted to make sure that she is well socialized with dogs and other people, especially since she has German Shepherd in her. I frequently visit this dog park often since this is the closest dog park near my house. There is a small parking lot and a canal right next to the park. I have had nothing but positive experience at this dog park with the dogs and their owners. Everyone that I came across knows their dog well and supervise them as they play, making sure nothing bad happens/goes wrong. It can be a hit or miss depending on the times you go, there could be a huge number of dogs one day and zero the next. I'm new to dog parks, so this isn't a review coming from lots of experience, though I can't imagine that all dog parks are this well thought out and maintained. We have a German Shepherd puppy, and it's been really important to us to make sure she is socialized. We want her to be around as many different people and dogs as possible, so, once it was ok'd by our vet, we immediately started taking her here. Our experience over the last half dozen or more times has pretty much always been outstanding. Nice owners, and plenty of other dogs at just about all times of day, both on weekdays, and on weekends. There is a huge variety of breeds as well. In my last three visits, I've seen poodles, labs, shepherds, a mastiff, a great dane, bullies, pit bulls, huskies, mutts, and more. The park has always been clean, and the other dog owners have just about always been friendly and patient with our very energetic, friendly puppy. She loves to run and play with the other dogs, so after about 45 minutes to an hour at this park, she is pretty well spent, and will spend the next many hours at home resting (which is an unspeakable luxury worth 5 stars in itself). There are clean up bags stations all around the park, which have always been stocked, and there is a water fountain, both for people, and for dogs (the dog fountain is basically a large water bowl which never runs empty). All in all, coming to this park has been a wonderful experience that I'm sure will continue for a long time. read more

Moved here from the Bay Area and this dog park isn't the best. It's big for big dogs which I have. But I have 1.5 and 6 month old labradoodles they love to play. A lady showed up with her kids and boarder collie and small dog. Yes I understand dogs like to sniff and welcome new dogs. Her collie attacked my female and then my baby boy. She didn't do much until I said seriously your dog is acting like an ass. And she didn't try to help me get her dog off both of mine. So I left then watched and her dog went after the Pittbull who got along with my dogs. She could at least sorry. If you are going to have dogs train them and you know that they are aggressive because I've witnessed my female show teeth and I busted her butt and corrected her behavior. Love the Park. Has a very nice area for water. Small an big Dig Sections. Although There is a Big German Shepard that Goes by the name "Gunner". I was Showing it love and it Jus went for my arm an Bit me. Few days prior bit a young boy on the Arm. Also past couple days ive been there he has attacked multiple Dogs including my own. The Owner does not try to stop Gunner or control him. Just proceeded to Say "Ada Boy". This is Not the type of dog that should be at these parks. We have an 8 month old American Bully puppy who loves people and other dogs. The Modesto Dog Park is the perfect place for him. He plays in the section for the bigger dogs and we spend about 1 1/2 - 2 hours at the park so he can play. He always leaves the park so satisfied and tired! There are always a lot of well behaved dogs for him to play with, the owners are super friendly, and the park is, for the most part, well maintained and very clean. There are several stations conveniently located with doggie bags and a water fountain for both humans and dogs. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because during our last visit, pet owners who were here before us didn't clean up after their dogs. This usually isn't the case, but when this happens, it's kind of a bummer for the rest of us who end up stepping in the mess. read more

When I first saw this park I thought what a great place for my puppy once her shots are complete. There is a place for large dogs and a place for small dogs. It's fenced and there are bag dispensers and a water fountain in the gated area before you enter either park. I've been to this park six times with my puppy, She is a large breed but non the less a puppy. Every time we go the other dog owners reassure me that their dogs are friendly and just want to play, NOT TRUE! The other dogs fight with her every time we go. I love bringing my albino Doberman Anubis because there's plenty of shade for him to be in. Lots of space for them to play. There is an old German Shepherd "gunner" and a bulldog "bull" that have attacked him and the owners don't really do much. This has the potential to be a really wonderful dog park. I also love that it is organized by the volunteers of the city. Unfortunately multiple times this week I noticed a group of men hanging around there with their dogs but not picking up their dog poop. I was at Morris Dog Park with my 7lb mini dachshund on 10/13/20 at approximately 9am,on the small dog side of the park. IMMEDIATELY upon entering a terrier mix dog, approximately 20 lbs, ran over to my dachshund and knocked my dachshund off of his feet. I asked the owner to stop his dog from hitting my dog. There were approximately six adults at the concrete table, who all proceeded to yell at me saying that the terrier mix was "just playing ". I've trained dogs for over 30 years and know the difference between rough playing and aggression, The terrier mix was being aggressive. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOG PARK in the morning !!!!! The people that were on the small dog side of the park were ignorant, rude and completely devoid of knowledge of Dog Park protocol or dog behavior. I continued to walk my puppy on the grass part of the small dog yard. As I was walking my mini dachshund on the grass a Chihuahua mix was following me growling and barking. I have melanoma and use a parasol when I am in the sun. The people that were occupying the concrete table were taking up space at the only shady part of the park. The Chihuahua mixes owner made the comment that her dog was growling and barking at me because of my parasol. I informed her that I have melanoma and she needs to desensitize her dog at home that's not my job. Not one person apologized or offered to let me sit in the shade. I'm giving this dog park three stars because the afternoon and evening people are much more savvy and informed about not only Dog Park protocol but also dog behaviors. read more

This is the best dog park in Modesto hands down. It is not the biggest one, but what they offer is a level up on the other one. First there are 2 sides to this park. One side is for smaller breeds, and the other is for larger breeds. The large dog side is also bigger. The is definitely enough space to chuck a frizz bee or a ball without hitting other people or dogs. Second, there is a gated area before you enter the gated dog park. I think this is awesome, and really important. I know some dogs out there just want to run and have fun, and if they get out without a leash, then they're gone. This helps prevent that. Such and awesome idea. So, if you have a dog that might do this, then this is the park that you want to bring them to. Third, there is a water fountain for your pooch. Fourth, there are sitting areas all around the park, not just at the front gate. My last point, the people that come here regularly are super nice, and if you come here often, you'll get to know them and their pooches by name. I've never had a bad experience at this park. Well, this is also on Yelp as Elk park and I've written a review there too. Anyway, it's mostly clean but some people don't clean up after their dogs, which is pretty gross. It's almost completely sand, so wear closed shoes that you don't mind getting dusty or you'll be sorry. No flip flops unless you like dog pee sand on your feet. I mean, whatever, I don't judge, just a suggestion. The dog poop trash cans can get pretty stinky, so beware standing downwind from that! People bring kids here for some reason, but not all dogs are ok with kids. Almost everyone is friendly, but there are a few trouble making dogs. I wish people would observe and control their dogs sometimes when it gets crazy in there. My dachshund loves the big dog area and the small dog area, so we spend time in both. There's lots of shade and benches. Plenty of poop scoop bags to clean up after your dog, so there's no excuse. There is one water fountain with a dog bowl level and a fenced in entrance /exit to prevent dogs from escaping. read more

Not sure how this dog park gets such good reviews. It's nothing to write home about. Maybe I was spoiled living in the Bay Area, we had a abundance of dog parks that are well maintained by the city. This one was nothing but dirt and a tree. No one seemed to use the "small park" for smaller breeds. Driving here I thought for sure I was going to get car jacked. It is not in the best of neighborhoods, so I won't be going there without my husband. It's a shame because I want to be able to take my dog out and get socialized and tired so he stays out of trouble and gets some exercise. I really wish Modesto would build another park or two. I think the city is big enough. But I get it...budgets and all. I was just very underwhelmed by this park. When we went there was one other dog, so not much stimulation for my pup. Maybe some other time we will have better luck...if we decide to go back. We might stick to the park around the corner from our house. read more

Great place to take your dogs. Overall people are friendly and watch their dogs. Every once in a while you will get a bad dog owner or an aggressive dog but thats pretty rare. They have a small and large side. The weekends are pretty busy and mid week 8-2 it seems pretty busy unless it's a cold morning. This is the nicest dog park I've been to in a long time. My girlfriend and I have an Australian Shepard border collie mix so of course it's very active. I was a little skeptic about dog parks in general because of horror story I have heard about, but upon arriving I noticed it wasn't anything like the stories. The owners are all great and love their dogs, and the dogs are great. There's always a nice mixture of dogs and all the owners are really good about cleaning up after their dogs thanks to the bags placed along the fence line. I now take our dog there every Monday and Tuesday and sometimes Thursday's twice a day. If you have a dog or puppy this is definitely the place to go. read more
