As someone who is a little more Type A (bride) when it comes to organization and planning, it was over whelming trying to consider how to plan the biggest day of our lives. Maria went above and beyond and took any ounce of stress away. She helped us pick our vendor team early on into the planning process, allowing us to find people who matched our energy. Where do i begin!!? You know how some brides are so relieved their wedding is over? I was so sad the wedding, the research, and planning with Maria was over! I would do it all over again if i could with her. We got married on November 2022 and had the ultimate dream wedding that I dare not could have imagined without Maria and her team at MM. If you are questioning if you need a wedding planner and/or day of coordi you better do it! Having lots of friends&family willing to help is NOT the same. I knew from the get go that i do not want to put any of my friends or family scrambling around leading up to and on the wedding day helping set up stuff and what not. It looked so grand, picturesque, something out of a magazine. There was NO way i would be able to pull something off like this!? Lol Everyone says how wedding planning is so stressful but honestly, there were so many down time moments for me where i kept asking Maria if i should be doing/planning anything?! But she already had it all figured out and planned. The ultimate test of stress is on the actual wedding day. I couldn't have even imagine how the tea ceremony would've been if it wasn't for her cuz i forgot to think of that detail nor in our contract did it state she will help with the early morning tea ceremony. Truly went above and beyond. Welcome table- i had no clue on how this was going to be setup. I just gave her some picture frames and guest book and she took charge. Little things like making sure we have food and that we eat, bringing us our desserts and sugarcane drinks so we don't have to get it, having a team with her to help assist the wedding party, fixing my bustle for the 100x time cuz it ended up tearing from all the fun, and packing all our stuff and extra food tucked away back in our room at the end of the night, and so much more! Maria made our dream wedding come true! Words cannot fully express how grateful we are for her professionalism, dedication, and kindness over the past one-and-a-half years as she planned our beautiful wedding. We started working with Maria in March of 2022 to plan our wedding for June of 2023. We opted for the full service package, and it was by far the best investment we made for our wedding. My wife and I had very busy schedules, so being able to schedule meetings any time of the day and text her any time we needed was so helpful. Maria was always available for us and was so patient with us throughout the entire process. Between us and our large Vietnamese families, there were a good number of requirements for our wedding: we needed a Dam Hoi (traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony), a ceremony at a Catholic church, a reception venue in Orange County which could accommodate up to 300 guests, and Vietnamese food catered at the wedding. Given these requirements and our budget, she was able to recommend different wedding venues and we fell in love with the Pasea Hotel in Huntington Beach. We had our Dam Hoi two months before the wedding, and Maria made it such a wonderful experience for us and our families. The florals, signs, and decorations were beautiful. She was able to have her friends at Encor studio do the photography and videography, and their photos and highlight video turned out excellent! All our relatives were so impressed with our Dam Hoi, and they could all tell it was professionally planned. One of Maria's greatest strengths as a wedding planner are her relationships with excellent local vendors. We chose to work with the photographer, videographer, caterer, florist, DJ/MC, bakery, rental company, and many other vendors who she recommended, and they were all fantastic. Maria had worked extensively with them before, so there was no need for us to directly reach out to or vet each vendor. Since we were so busy, we did not have time to look at the florals, taste test the cake, or looks at the linens and rentals. Maria did everything for us, and it turned out perfect. She literally saved us many weeks of work. We chose to cater with a company called Furiwa, and she knew the menu like the back of her hand and was able to make us excellent recommendations on the appetizers and food to serve. She also worked extensively with the Pasea Hotel in the past, so she was able to secure the venue for us a year and a half before the wedding date, and make useful recommendations regarding the menu and services. In addition, she was able to save us thousands of dollars with referral discounts and negotiating directly with the hotel and our vendors, all of whom she knew personally. While many other married couples we know were so stressed and busy the week before their wedding to get last minute things done, we were the exact opposite. The hardest part of wedding planning for us was creating the guest list and seating chart. After we were done with that, Maria took care of everything else in the background. When the wedding day came, everything was absolutely perfect down to the last detail thanks to Maria and her team. She was able to keep everything exactly on schedule throughout the day, and her assistants would guided us from place to place at the right time. We felt so relaxed on our special day and were really able to enjoy our time and soak in the wonderful memories. We and all our guests were so impressed with the wedding design and ballroom decorations. The centerpieces, sweetheart table, floral arrangements, and the lighting were so beautiful. All our guests told us that they had never seen such a beautiful wedding ballroom. All our guests could tell that we had an excellent wedding planner because everything was so punctual and everything ran so smoothly. Our guest complimented every aspect of our wedding, from appetizer selection, to the music selection, to the MC, to the florals - every vendor that Maria recommended was amazing. There were so many little details that Maria took care of which made the day so seamless and enjoyable. For example, she had a beautiful memorial for my late father at both the church and also at the reception. Some of our guests were lactose intolerant, so she included a cute sign for us with lactaid tablets for our guests. When we came back to our honeymoon suite at the end of the night, she had our wedding meals boxed up for us, a piece of wedding cake, and engagement photos from our greeting table waiting for us in the room. I can't post this review without smiling when thinking about all the laughter, GIFs text messages, food adventures, and fun times we had with Tiffany during our wedding planning. Although sad to postpone our 2020 wedding another year, we were ultimately grateful and excited to be tied to Tiffany for an additional year LOOL As stressful as 2020 was, we needed Tiffany to keep our heads straight and focused. She was patient, kind, sweet, and so optimistic throughout the whole process. People often ask how we pulled this beautiful wedding together and I simply respond with her name. I know I'm echoing other posts when I say Tiffany goes above and beyond for her clients and we could not have done it without her. The day of the wedding had a lot of moving parts. Tiffany and the rest of the MM team was impeccable in its execution, however. Joanne, OH Joanne!, she stuck by my side the entire day and she is such a sweet soul. I don't think there are enough words to describe how amazing Maria and her team are. My friend had Maria plan their wedding over five years ago and then recommended her to me when I started planning my wedding. And I GET IT! She is everything that you could want for as a wedding planner. She is calm, sweet, professional, organized and best of all - responsive. She knows how to work with people who are hard to please (aka parents who can be particular/picky). My only regret is that I didn't book her for the full service planning package or the six months planning package. I was bamboozled by my fiance/now husband into thinking that he was actually going to help me plan the wedding and so I booked her for the "day of" planning. (Don't let your man bamboozle you too!!) Even though I booked her as the "day of" planner, every time I had a question or just wanted her thoughts on something - Maria was a phone call or email away during the entire planning process. She always responded in a timely manner and was extremely patient and reassuring with me and my wedding planning anxieties. She has great connections with vendors - literally every vendor I booked knew who she was and they were all excited to be working with her the day of the wedding. When the wedding day came, my parents, my in-laws and our guests were blown away at how organized and professional Maria was. Every unpredictable hiccup (like 1- my dress not bustling properly or 2- me ruining my make up by being an emotional wreck during the first look) was smoothed over quickly and none of our guests were able to tell. Best of all, we were on time with our schedule the entire night! I would like to take the time to personally thank Abby, one of Maria's assistant. While Maria making sure that the wishes/visions that myself, my parents and in-laws had were being properly executed, Abby was basically my personal assistant that day. She helped me with five outfit changes (crazy, I know). She kept me hydrated with water, she held my train, she fixed my train repeatedly for photos and she was so emotionally supportive when I was freaking out. We were adamant about having a sophisticated event with contemporary cultural elements (I'm Vietnamese and he is Japanese/Chinese) and Maria totally understood our taste and vision. She has a wealth of experience and made us feel comfortable right away. She's also responsive and detail oriented which is a MUST for anyone that the couple works with. It's stressful enough to plan a wedding so prompt communication from your vendors makes a huge difference. Ya'll wouldn't believe how many people take multiple days to respond without explanation. On the day of, we had a couple assistants and they were so personable and helpful! - Drove bride and bridal party from hotel to wedding venue (only a couple miles away) - I left my veil at the hotel (wedding day snafu!!) and freaked out a bit. One of the assistants was nice enough to drive back to the hotel and bring it to the venue - Manned our boba station for the evening Of course, Maria herself was a joy to work with as well! - For our "something borrowed", we used champagne flutes that my husband's parents used at their wedding. We didn't recall packing them up at the end of the night so got worried that they got mixed up with the general drink ware. OMG, Maria had packed them up for us and they were safe and sound. - She ran our rehearsal seamlessly and thank goodness for that because we wouldn't have known what the hell to do without that practice event. - She provided the best advice and tips throughout the whole process and the day of. I could go on and on but one of the biggest testaments is that other couples we know plan to work with MM after attending/hearing us rave about them. When it comes to the big day, her team is totally on point! I mean seriously they are so well organized, so professional, and they have the timing and coordination down to a tee. Nothing frazzled her and she was always in control and in the zone. She provides you with an itemized checklist of everything you need to do before the wedding. She gives you a master timeline of the day down to the minute. She coordinates with all of your vendors to make sure they have their stuff together. She is mindful of your budget. She also helps with all the little things you don't necessarily think of like seating, signage, menus, etc. In short, she knows how to EXECUTE a game plan! She is also has a great designer! She works with the florist to make sure the flowers and colors match the vision. She assists the production team with lighting and draping. Her team turned a boring and dull hotel ballroom into a totally gorgeous and elegant dream state. We received so many compliments how beautiful our wedding was (see pics). We couldn't have been happier with how our wedding turned out! Also, if you will be having a wedding with some traditional Vietnamese elements, you'll really want want to consider Maria. We booked Modest Magnolia when they were still Top Event Planner back in 2018 and I'm so happy to have followed Maria and the team to their new Modest Magnolia venture!! :) From the start, Maria was responsive, helpful, and always the kindest!! Like many other brides, we had to reschedule and replan multiple times due to COVID, and Maria was so helpful and understanding every step of the way! I still remember she was one of the only vendors to text me on our would-be 2020 date wishing us well wishes !! One of the reasons we went with Modest Magnolia is because they have a ton of experience with Asian weddings, specifically Vietnamese weddings! We were just going to have them out on the table but Maria made it so aesthetic. :P - During our ceremony, we did a Vietnamese tea ceremony and Maria took care of the logistics to brew hot tea at the perfect time for the ceremony. She was also the one to adjust my dress every time it needed adjusting. - Maria attended our rehearsal and meetings with our venue coordinator and basically handled it all!! During the meetings, she would always have the up-to-date papers printed of our bridal party lineup, table set up, etc.. We had a big bridal party and she perfectly relayed all of the instructions for walking down the aisle! Aaand just some more bullet points of things Maria did for us: - Brought wedding sparklers for photos (such a nice surprise!) - Provided templates and worksheets for everything we needed e.g. seating charts, table layouts, etc.. - Gave us instructions for toasting and cutting cake (so simple but I really appreciated every instruction bc I didn't know what to do lol!) - Had assistants to help out - Led the table greetings, collected the cards, and neatly placed them in the safe in our room afterwards - Packed us to-go boxes of food and dessert and left them in our room at the end of the night - Caught duplicates in our seating chart - Immediately sent me photos/videos she took on her iPhone that were perfectly chronologically in order and recaptured the day!! I appreciated this a lot! She took some of the best photos/vids and made sure to capture each little moment! At the end of the wedding day, my partner and I literally said to each other "what the heck we should be paying Maria so much more, she did so much for us!!" We did the "month of" package but as you can see, Maria went above and beyond throughout the entire wedding journey and not just the month of! Like many couples, we had to postpone our wedding this past year due to COVID. After much waiting, re-planning and stress, we were finally able to have our wedding this past May 2021 and could not have done it without Maria and Tiffany's help. We love you both!!! We had them help us with coordinating everything on the day of our wedding and they put together a detailed timeline of events for us to follow since we had plenty of things to do that day (tea ceremony in the morning, church at noon, photos in the afternoon, and reception in the evening). As we had to re-plan throughout the year with COVID, Maria provided a lot of support and encouragement to us and was easy to communicate with whenever we had a question or concern. On our wedding day, they were both so helpful in keeping our day organized but also making sure that our entire bridal party was taken care of. I want to start off by saying... Maria is such a HUGE part of why our wedding turned out as fun and memorable as we envisioned it to be. I am forever grateful for her organizational skills and sweet and kind heart. She is also super prepared for anything catastrophic that could happen during a wedding, probably even a zombie apocalypse hahaha. Early 2020, I found Modest Magnolia while lurking on Reddit and scouring Yelp and Wedding Wire, joining SoCal wedding FB groups and spending hours on IG doing research (I must've checked out dozens of vendors' IG accounts). I really understood the assignment; my married friends told me vendors can make or break your wedding. I'm really detail-oriented about certain things, I've had many friends ask for my vacation itineraries because I plan my vacation days down to the half hour lol. Like when I get into planning, I can get borderline obsessive. So I knew I needed someone who could take over for me on my wedding day, someone I knew I could trust 110% could do things the way I wanted to, but could also make split-second decisions for me on the day of because I really wanted to be hands off on my wedding day. I found Modest Magnolia's Yelp account... Everyone's reviews mentioned something about an 11-page questionnaire and about how meticulous Maria was. Cool, that's exactly what I wanted. We booked our wedding day with Maria, then the whole pandemic happened... My husband and I work in healthcare, so we put wedding planning aside for most of 2020. Fast forward to a couple months before the wedding. We had some issues come up, like with our florist (my husband was super upset with how they handled some things) and Maria ended up being the messenger/mediator and I felt so bad having her stuck in the middle but also was super impressed with how well she handled things. This was also during the Delta variant surge, our guests were like 95% vaccinated but we asked Maria if she could ask vendors and guests (upon check in) to wear masks for everyone's safety and she was so quick and willing to do so. We also had a lot of moving parts (dessert, boba, In n Out truck) and everything was in place and on time for our wedding. We actually finished the whole dinner program one hour early! From prep to ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, everything flowed SO smoothly. We had an extra hour after dinner to mingle and spend time with our guests which we were so grateful to have. Some of our guests we hadn't seen for years either because of physical distance and/or the pandemic, and it was a blessing to be able to spend as much time with them as we could've. My husband and I aren't big on parties, but we just wanted our wedding to be a big fun gathering for everyone especially after the year 2020 was. Up to this day, my husband and I think fondly of that day... It was honestly the best day of our lives. All thanks to how flawlessly Maria executed things :) We actually went to three weddings within 2 months after our wedding and a lot of the guests at those weddings were guests at ours too, they said ours was the most fun wedding they've ever been to. May I also mention she always has an emergency kit on her... During our reception, one of my cousins asked if I had Pepcid because he wanted to take some before drinking (iykyk lol) and I didn't bring any. I asked Maria and she gave me two tablets! Haha. My mind was blown, she even had Pepcid on her! Some of the things she did that made me realize how thoughtful Maria is: - As soon as cocktail hour began and we finished taking family photos, she handed me my alcoholic drink of choice, I didn't even have to go to the bar for it - She made sure my husband and I got some time at the photobooth to take pics of just the two of us, since we were getting pulled in all directions by our guests lol - She put aside a copy of our dinner menu (I was planning to make a time capsule of our wedding and forgot to ask Maria to do it but she did it anyway) - She very carefully put away all of our photos, guestbook, and even put my bouquet in water and handed everything to our best man for safekeeping - She made sure we had two cupcakes of each flavor to enjoy the next day (we had cupcakes instead of cake served to our guests and it was all gone by the time dinner was over lol)... again, I didn't ask but Maria thought we'd want to eat our own wedding cupcakes and did it for us without asking :) My husband actually was a groomsman at another wedding that Maria was the coordinator of, so we saw her again 2 months after our wedding. It was such a delight to see her! We hugged like friends who haven't seen each other in a while. I had to ask her for Tums because hubby was having heartburn and already took Pepcid, unfortunately she only had Pepcid on her. For inquiring minds, my husband and I got married on July 22, 2022! Thanks to the enormous efforts and good graces of MM, it was truly the best day ever (for us and our guests)! We were one of many pandemic couples - got engaged in April 2019 and had to postpone our original wedding date of July 2020. This created the unique situation in which we worked with MM over the course of 3 years (so take it from us)! We were referred by a friend who worked in the industry and was also planning her own wedding - we knew we must have hit the jackpot in all the wedding planners. We sure did get lucky with Maria :) Summary of why MM: 1. Professional, Knowledgable Experts - Maria knows what she's doing and has been at this for a very long time. Trust her process. She will answer all your questions from what's typically done, what colors look good, the order of show and making it your own, to the timing of it all - she's got it DOWN to a science! Have no fear. She brings assistants also and everything runs so smoothly. 2. Great Vendor Connections - we worked with various MM vendors and met some along the way and they are incredible. Be sure to check them out! It's also fun when they all come together for your wedding too because they've already worked with one another and are close so it's like a tight knit group reunion which you'd love to have at your wedding! We're all family here. 3. They Think of Everything! - Maria fed us donuts. Yes, you read that right. When my husband and I were busy greeting guests, having fun and dancing the night away, she made sure to spoon feed us the most delectable donuts (one of the vendors which she recommended - refer back to #2 don't sleep on the donuts!). She offered us fresh mints throughout the night, they helped me in and out of my dress, she made sure we stopped for photos at the booth and we felt like guests at our own wedding! She lended us table numbers, offered a garter, cake cutting knife, she grabbed all our wedding gifts and stored them away safely, she cleaned and packed everything away at the end. Oh, we also didn't have a videographer and she recorded all our memories, too! We truly didn't have to lift a finger. 4. Kind, Sweet, Pleasant - They Become Your Family. This is where I want to give MM Infinity Stars. There are many services out there, and truly MM stands out as the best, and what makes them truly special is their heart and soul. Maria has become our family. At the end of the night, I asked when she would wrap up and she responded, "I was done an hour ago. I'm just hanging out." My heart melted and I just want to hug her so tight thinking of that moment. Honestly, for all the brides debating about hiring a wedding planner, DO IT. Tiffany was our day of coordinator and she was AMAZING! My husband who didn't care much about the vendors and details, told me that he was very impressed with Tiffany and that every time he went to do something or get everyone, she was already on top of it. Our bridal party was great, always offering to help set up, but honestly, they had nothing to do except to enjoy the day with us. Going into the wedding, I thought I would be stressed and annoyed with everything, but the whole day, I was calm and having the best time with my girls. I just want to get married over and over again just to have an excuse to work with Tiffany again. I booked her full-on after our initial meeting. She is the saint behind (almost) every single all-white wedding in the local area. When I first started planning the wedding I had already booked my big vendors bc I kinda already knew who I wanted. As you may know, it was very stressful to plan a Covid wedding; however, Tiffany and her team made it happened. We experienced a really successful event. Everything went amazingly well that day and I cannot express how appreciative we are for everything that you guys did for us. Modest Magnolia was one of the easiest vendors to work with, so accommodating and did everything we wanted without complaints. We altered the reception timeline multiple times and even the night before the wedding and this wasn't a problem for them. Tiffany went above and beyond from the start. She's very organized and responsive. The timeline was comprehensive even to the tiniest details. She worked with many vendors in the wedding industry and had provided me good recommendations, making the planning process easier. On the day of, Tiffany was so attentive and even made sure I had something to drink and eat and was happy. The team also stayed and helped us with clean up. Maria slayed our wedding ! We hired her for the full service because I can't handle the stress of weddings Maria has such calm demeanor when u speak to her you can't help but feel more at Ease. We could not have asked for a better team to prepare our wedding day. We booked Maria almost 2 years before our wedding date before working out any details because we knew that she was the most important aspect to making our wedding perfect. Like all weddings, we had some unexpected surprises. We found out that our ballroom for the reception was booked for another wedding the afternoon of our wedding day. The team only had 3 hours to flip the ballroom, including wall to wall white carpet and floor to ceiling draping all around. Maria brought in extra vendors to make our vision possible. This review is for Tiffany! Tiffany was PHENOMENAL as my day of coordinator! Although we hired Modest Magnolia's Month of Package, the communication was always consistent and thorough with Tiffany from day one, even before we paid our initial deposit. Tiffany was always readily available with suggestions, recommendations, honest opinions, and even offered cost savings solutions! For example, our reception venue was charging a few dollars more for table cloth linen than one of her vendors and she caught that instantaneously. She is so sharp and definitely knows her stuff! Tiffany also has this calm demeanor about her that puts everyone at ease, despite how chaotic it may be. Another example was when our DJ had technical difficulties, but within minutes, Tiffany resolved it! Like how amazing can you be? She is the jack of all trades, I tell you! Not only was Tiffany amazing, but her team was equally as great. We had Carolyn, Brandon, and Mac as Tiffany's assistants and they were wonderful!
