We had a great experience working with Maria and the Modest Magnolia team! Everything was organized, communication was seamless, and the entire day flowed effortlessly. We'd be happy to work together again anytime. -- Mike, Endless Summer DJs read more

Where to even begin, not that we would ever want to plan a wedding again...but if we did we'd pick Maria and her team every single time. From the moment we had to pick a planner, we knew Maria was the right choice. Our first phone call felt like talking to your best friend you had known for years. She showed genuine care and interest from the get go and we knew we were in good hands. As someone who is a little more Type A (bride) when it comes to organization and planning, it was over whelming trying to consider how to plan the biggest day of our lives. Maria went above and beyond and took any ounce of stress away. She helped us pick our vendor team early on into the planning process, allowing us to find people who matched our energy. What seemed to be so daunting became some of the easiest decisions to make. Throughout the year, Maria checked in with us to make sure things were okay. She looked over our contracts and helped us plan the next steps whether it was food tasting, floral meetings, making a design deck, or buying a cake just for a photo. Monthly chats quickly turned into weekly chats as we got closer to the big day. Maria ensured every little detail was covered asking us questions about our bridal party, songs we wanted to be played, table greetings, and thank you cards. Before the day of our wedding, she sent us a checklist of items to give her to help take the added weight off our shoulders so we can enjoy our day. What we thought was already an above and beyond was nothing near the day of experience. Maria and her team could not have planned a better timeline for us and our loved ones. Maria took charge handling all our vendors while her assistants Cat and Chelsea ensured we were okay and our bridal party was set and ready to go. Everything was seamless as they took care of little things such as ensuring we had food to eat, water to drink, and a moment to breathe. When we had some last minute changes such as changed meals or guest coming and going, they handled it with ease. Many of our guest raved about our vendors and how amazing the day was, but it couldn't have happened without Maria and her team. Our closest loved ones who knew Maria was our planner couldn't stop complimenting how on top of it she was the whole day, and we couldn't agree more. Maria is not only a planner but she becomes your friend. She takes genuine interest in you and makes you feel on top of the world. We couldn't be more fortunate enough to have worked with her and her team. read more

Maria was the best day of coordinator we could have asked for. She was super organized, kind, and kept the day flowing spectacularly. She also was able to send us some BTS content that we didn't even know she was taking. I couldn't have imagined anyone else helping make our day as magical as it was. Her and her colleague Chelsea truly were the dream team. We 10/10 recommend Maria to anyone who wants the perfect day! read more

Hiring Maria Tran of Modest Magnolia was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the very beginning, Maria's calm demeanor, experience, and attention to detail gave me a sense of peace I didn't even realize I needed. As a Type A bride who typically manages every detail, I knew I needed someone I could fully trust to execute our vision, and Maria did exactly that. Her team of three didn't just "coordinate" our wedding, but they held our hands every step of the way. The week before, she allowed us to drop off all our wedding items in advance, which gave us one less thing to worry about. On the big day, her team orchestrated everything from behind the scenes so smoothly that we were able to remain fully present and truly enjoy every moment. They thought of EVERYTHING! From bustling my dress and coordinating multiple outfit changes, to ensuring every single guest had a seat and that the program ran seamlessly, they never missed a beat. Trust, I created a full orchestra in detail, and they hit every note! One of the most touching details was when they made sure the bouquet pin with my late father's face made it to our florist--it was such a meaningful and emotional piece, and their care in honoring that moment meant the world to me. When I realized, just minutes before my Mother's Dedication speech, that I had left it in the dressing room, Maria's team sprinted to retrieve it without hesitation. Their responsiveness, grace under pressure, and constant behind-the-scenes vigilance ensured our day unfolded effortlessly. What truly set Maria and her team apart was how they advocated for us and worked in harmony with all other vendors. They made sure every vendor had a proper meal (something we might have overlooked in the chaos), and even created time in the schedule so we could personally present thank-you gifts to them before the night wrapped. They helped us navigate last-minute weather changes, handled unexpected guest dropouts, and still made sure we got every meal we paid for by reallocating them to other attendees. They guided us through important cultural traditions, like our Tea Ceremony and Chao Ban, cued every speech and toast with perfect timing, and even remembered to grab our giant foam board heads and signage for our grand entrance. Every possible transition and moment was handled with so much care and precision. I truly felt like the First Lady, having our wedding at The Nixon Presidential Library and Museum. And at the end of it all--when we were floating on love and adrenaline--Maria and her team had already packed every item from our Bridal Suite into our car and handed us the key. We didn't have to lift a finger. That kind of care is rare. Maria is more than a wedding coordinator--she's a wedding angel! She made what could have been a stressful day feel completely effortless. If you're lucky enough to work with her, take it from this (very detail-oriented!) bride: you're in the best hands possible. I truly consider Maria a friend for life and cannot recommend Modest Magnolia more highly! P.S. Maria's also HILARIOUS!?! It was like planning our wedding with my bestie P.P.S. I can't get over what a fantastic job Maria and her team at Modest Magnolia did as our day-of coordinator for our wedding at Venue by 3P in Huntington Beach, CA. Even before our wedding day, she was super on top of everything - making sure we provided her all the needed guest lists, seating arrangements, and etc. She helped create and draft several wedding timelines, which was super helpful in keeping us on track the day of our wedding. She was very responsive throughout the entire planning process and was always willing to hop on a call when needed to discuss any details. She really made the entire wedding day run as smoothly as possible, from our morning tea ceremony all the way until dancing after the reception. I would 10000% recommend using Maria as your event planner or day-of coordinator. It's an expense that should not be spared, as it allowed a Type A bride like myself really enjoy my wedding day! Maria, I really, really hope we have the opportunity to work together again in the future!! Thank you for all that you did to make our special day EPIC - you're the best!! read more

It took us a bit of time to sit down and write this review because we wanted to do justice to just how incredible our experience was with Maria. From the very beginning, Maria went above and beyond to turn our vision into reality, and along the way she became more than just a planner--she became a friend. Simply put, Maria made our wedding day magical and memorable in ways we didn't even imagine. Maria took the time to truly understand and incorporate our ideas, making sure every detail was just right. Her support and creativity were evident in every aspect of the wedding. She was especially wonderful with my family, even going so far as to help my mom bandage her feet when her heels became too much to handle. That's dedication! One of the things we loved most were the little inside jokes that made the planning process fun and memorable--like the infamous "french fry money" and the ever-popular "sorry Ray" moments. These small yet personal jokes made the whole experience feel lighthearted and uniquely ours. On our wedding day, Maria worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make everything as seamless as possible. She took care of all the little details so we could relax and fully enjoy our special day. Thanks to her, we were able to focus on creating beautiful memories with our friends and family, knowing that everything was in expert hands. If you're looking for a wedding planner who is not only professional but also kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your day perfect, Maria is your go-to. She truly helped us create an unforgettable celebration, and we couldn't have done it without her! Maria, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you did. The beauty and joyousness of our day will forever be ingrained in our memories, and we're so grateful to have gone through this wedding process with you. Ray&Annie read more

Where do i begin!!? You know how some brides are so relieved their wedding is over? I was so sad the wedding, the research, and planning with Maria was over! I would do it all over again if i could with her. We got married on November 2022 and had the ultimate dream wedding that I dare not could have imagined without Maria and her team at MM. If you are questioning if you need a wedding planner and/or day of coordi you better do it! Having lots of friends&family willing to help is NOT the same. I knew from the get go that i do not want to put any of my friends or family scrambling around leading up to and on the wedding day helping set up stuff and what not. I found her on Instagram while scrolling through wedding pictures from various vendors just wondering if i can have a wedding like these IG pics. It looked so grand, picturesque, something out of a magazine. There was NO way i would be able to pull something off like this!? I noticed @modestmagnolia was tagged in all the pictures that i liked so i knew i had to contact her. From our first interaction to the very end, Maria knows what she's doing! So knowledgeable, confident in her work, and Graceful with a capital G! Lol Everyone says how wedding planning is so stressful but honestly, there were so many down time moments for me where i kept asking Maria if i should be doing/planning anything?! But she already had it all figured out and planned. The ultimate test of stress is on the actual wedding day. I thought i was going to be all anxious, impatient, nervous, get all hot and red trying to figure stuff out while trying to act like everything is perfect in front of guests. lmao but everything WAS perfect and I was relaxed on the day of, i even surprise myself at times! There were even times when we had down time to chill and rest ( what!?) She truly loves what she does and does it well. Some notable moments... I was so thankful to know that she was coming up from OC to SGV early morning to bring our flowers and help assist with the tea ceremony. I couldn't have even imagine how the tea ceremony would've been if it wasn't for her cuz i forgot to think of that detail nor in our contract did it state she will help with the early morning tea ceremony. Truly went above and beyond. Welcome table- i had no clue on how this was going to be setup. I just gave her some picture frames and guest book and she took charge. Little things like making sure we have food and that we eat, bringing us our desserts and sugarcane drinks so we don't have to get it, having a team with her to help assist the wedding party, fixing my bustle for the 100x time cuz it ended up tearing from all the fun, and packing all our stuff and extra food tucked away back in our room at the end of the night, and so much more! Oh, and so many people including my mom kept saying how great Maria was, she knows what shes doing, she looks so calm and graceful but working Ittt! Seriously, don't hesitate to hire Modest Magnolia. Maria is WORTH IT and then some. read more

Maria made our dream wedding come true! Words cannot fully express how grateful we are for her professionalism, dedication, and kindness over the past one-and-a-half years as she planned our beautiful wedding. We started working with Maria in March of 2022 to plan our wedding for June of 2023. We opted for the full service package, and it was by far the best investment we made for our wedding. My wife and I had very busy schedules, so being able to schedule meetings any time of the day and text her any time we needed was so helpful. Maria was always available for us and was so patient with us throughout the entire process. Between us and our large Vietnamese families, there were a good number of requirements for our wedding: we needed a Dam Hoi (traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony), a ceremony at a Catholic church, a reception venue in Orange County which could accommodate up to 300 guests, and Vietnamese food catered at the wedding. Given these requirements and our budget, she was able to recommend different wedding venues and we fell in love with the Pasea Hotel in Huntington Beach. We had our Dam Hoi two months before the wedding, and Maria made it such a wonderful experience for us and our families. The florals, signs, and decorations were beautiful. She was able to have her friends at Encor studio do the photography and videography, and their photos and highlight video turned out excellent! All our relatives were so impressed with our Dam Hoi, and they could all tell it was professionally planned. One of Maria's greatest strengths as a wedding planner are her relationships with excellent local vendors. We chose to work with the photographer, videographer, caterer, florist, DJ/MC, bakery, rental company, and many other vendors who she recommended, and they were all fantastic. Maria had worked extensively with them before, so there was no need for us to directly reach out to or vet each vendor. Since we were so busy, we did not have time to look at the florals, taste test the cake, or looks at the linens and rentals. Maria did everything for us, and it turned out perfect. She literally saved us many weeks of work. We chose to cater with a company called Furiwa, and she knew the menu like the back of her hand and was able to make us excellent recommendations on the appetizers and food to serve. She also worked extensively with the Pasea Hotel in the past, so she was able to secure the venue for us a year and a half before the wedding date, and make useful recommendations regarding the menu and services. In addition, she was able to save us thousands of dollars with referral discounts and negotiating directly with the hotel and our vendors, all of whom she knew personally. While many other married couples we know were so stressed and busy the week before their wedding to get last minute things done, we were the exact opposite. The hardest part of wedding planning for us was creating the guest list and seating chart. After we were done with that, Maria took care of everything else in the background. When the wedding day came, everything was absolutely perfect down to the last detail thanks to Maria and her team. She was able to keep everything exactly on schedule throughout the day, and her assistants would guided us from place to place at the right time. We felt so relaxed on our special day and were really able to enjoy our time and soak in the wonderful memories. We and all our guests were so impressed with the wedding design and ballroom decorations. The centerpieces, sweetheart table, floral arrangements, and the lighting were so beautiful. All our guests told us that they had never seen such a beautiful wedding ballroom. All our guests could tell that we had an excellent wedding planner because everything was so punctual and everything ran so smoothly. Our guest complimented every aspect of our wedding, from appetizer selection, to the music selection, to the MC, to the florals - every vendor that Maria recommended was amazing. There were so many little details that Maria took care of which made the day so seamless and enjoyable. For example, she had a beautiful memorial for my late father at both the church and also at the reception. Some of our guests were lactose intolerant, so she included a cute sign for us with lactaid tablets for our guests. When we came back to our honeymoon suite at the end of the night, she had our wedding meals boxed up for us, a piece of wedding cake, and engagement photos from our greeting table waiting for us in the room. Every little detail was perfect. If you and your fiancé are looking for a wedding planner and designer in Southern California, we would highly recommend you reach out to Maria at Modest Magnolia. If you are considering a large-scale Vietnamese-style wedding with beautiful design, close attention to detail, and top-notch professionalism, then look no further because you will not find anyone better than Maria. read more

I can't post this review without smiling when thinking about all the laughter, GIFs text messages, food adventures, and fun times we had with Tiffany during our wedding planning. Although sad to postpone our 2020 wedding another year, we were ultimately grateful and excited to be tied to Tiffany for an additional year LOOL As stressful as 2020 was, we needed Tiffany to keep our heads straight and focused. She was patient, kind, sweet, and so optimistic throughout the whole process. People often ask how we pulled this beautiful wedding together and I simply respond with her name. I know I'm echoing other posts when I say Tiffany goes above and beyond for her clients and we could not have done it without her. The day of the wedding had a lot of moving parts. Tiffany and the rest of the MM team was impeccable in its execution, however. Joanne, OH Joanne!, she stuck by my side the entire day and she is such a sweet soul. I know she saw my emotions that day but she was such a trooper in ensuring everything was went smoothly. Scheduling, set-up, vendor correspondence, timing, changes, pictures, music, the list goes ON. Tiffany was the orchestrator and she captained the day with such grace. Having Tiffany and MM took the uncertainty, stress, worry and anxiety away from the first consultation call to the day-of. I 100,000,000% will recommend this team to anyone who will listen to me babble. So STOP looking any further for a wedding coordinator/planner. Just call MM already. read more

Maria is the BEST! Seriously. She came highly recommended by several of our friends who also used her for their wedding and we are so thankful for her. When it comes to the big day, her team is totally on point! I mean seriously they are so well organized, so professional, and they have the timing and coordination down to a tee. On our wedding day, she was with us from the early morning to the strike of the midnight and she was just always so calm and collected. Nothing frazzled her and she was always in control and in the zone. It really takes a special person to be able to handle the absolute madness of planning a wedding while at the same time being able to keep you calm as well. Maria is also really great at keeping you organized and on a schedule which makes the whole wedding planning process as stress-free as possible. She provides you with an itemized checklist of everything you need to do before the wedding. She gives you a master timeline of the day down to the minute. She coordinates with all of your vendors to make sure they have their stuff together. She is mindful of your budget. She also helps with all the little things you don't necessarily think of like seating, signage, menus, etc. In short, she knows how to EXECUTE a game plan! She is also has a great designer! She works with the florist to make sure the flowers and colors match the vision. She assists the production team with lighting and draping. Her team turned a boring and dull hotel ballroom into a totally gorgeous and elegant dream state. We received so many compliments how beautiful our wedding was (see pics). We couldn't have been happier with how our wedding turned out! Also, if you will be having a wedding with some traditional Vietnamese elements, you'll really want want to consider Maria. In addition to the planning of the ceremony and reception, she is experienced with tea ceremonies and bilingual church ceremonies. Seriously, her ability to speak Vietnamese is so clutch especially when you have older Vietnamese guests who don't speak a lick of English. TLDR: Maria knows what's she's doing and she will make sure you have the most amazing wedding! read more

I definitely recommend working with Modest Magnolia, Maria and her assitants were very professional, patient and attentative. I don't think there are enough words to describe how amazing Maria and her team are. My friend had Maria plan their wedding over five years ago and then recommended her to me when I started planning my wedding. And I GET IT! She is everything that you could want for as a wedding planner. She is calm, sweet, professional, organized and best of all - responsive. She knows how to work with people who are hard to please (aka parents who can be particular/picky). My only regret is that I didn't book her for the full service planning package or the six months planning package. I was bamboozled by my fiance/now husband into thinking that he was actually going to help me plan the wedding and so I booked her for the "day of" planning. (Don't let your man bamboozle you too!!) Even though I booked her as the "day of" planner, every time I had a question or just wanted her thoughts on something - Maria was a phone call or email away during the entire planning process. She always responded in a timely manner and was extremely patient and reassuring with me and my wedding planning anxieties. She has great connections with vendors - literally every vendor I booked knew who she was and they were all excited to be working with her the day of the wedding. When the wedding day came, my parents, my in-laws and our guests were blown away at how organized and professional Maria was. Every unpredictable hiccup (like 1- my dress not bustling properly or 2- me ruining my make up by being an emotional wreck during the first look) was smoothed over quickly and none of our guests were able to tell. Best of all, we were on time with our schedule the entire night! I would like to take the time to personally thank Abby, one of Maria's assistant. While Maria making sure that the wishes/visions that myself, my parents and in-laws had were being properly executed, Abby was basically my personal assistant that day. She helped me with five outfit changes (crazy, I know). She kept me hydrated with water, she held my train, she fixed my train repeatedly for photos and she was so emotionally supportive when I was freaking out. If you are thinking of hiring Maria, I would say yes a hundred times! read more

5 stars all the way! We got married in October 2022 and selecting Modest Magnolia (MM) and Maria was one of the best decisions we made for ourselves! We were adamant about having a sophisticated event with contemporary cultural elements (I'm Vietnamese and he is Japanese/Chinese) and Maria totally understood our taste and vision. She has a wealth of experience and made us feel comfortable right away. She's also responsive and detail oriented which is a MUST for anyone that the couple works with. It's stressful enough to plan a wedding so prompt communication from your vendors makes a huge difference. Ya'll wouldn't believe how many people take multiple days to respond without explanation. On the day of, we had a couple assistants and they were so personable and helpful! - Drove bride and bridal party from hotel to wedding venue (only a couple miles away) - I left my veil at the hotel (wedding day snafu!!) and freaked out a bit. One of the assistants was nice enough to drive back to the hotel and bring it to the venue - Manned our boba station for the evening Of course, Maria herself was a joy to work with as well! - For our "something borrowed", we used champagne flutes that my husband's parents used at their wedding. We didn't recall packing them up at the end of the night so got worried that they got mixed up with the general drink ware. OMG, Maria had packed them up for us and they were safe and sound. - She ran our rehearsal seamlessly and thank goodness for that because we wouldn't have known what the hell to do without that practice event. - She provided the best advice and tips throughout the whole process and the day of. I could go on and on but one of the biggest testaments is that other couples we know plan to work with MM after attending/hearing us rave about them. I can't wait to experience as a guest because I know the event will be executed beautifully. We are so happy with how our wedding turned out and a huge part of that was thanks to Maria and team! read more

Maria and her team created my dream wedding, It was such a short preparation. One month to prepare. I had envisioned my wedding as simple, all white, elegant and intimate, and they made it to reality. Maria to begin with is so joyful to talk to, she listens and she makes sure that your wishes for your special day is going to happen. She was very helpful. She prepared everything from make up artist, photographers, videographers, venue and small things that I wouldn't even think I can do if it was me planning my wedding. Everything on my wedding is what exactly I envisioned. She even made sure that my frenchies will be a highlight of the wedding. No words can express how grateful I am and thankful I went with her. I was really spoiled on my wedding day. As of what my friend said "when she gets marry, she wants to have a wedding like mine" Also my wedding up to this date is being talked about how beautiful it is.. thank you Maria and your wonderful team! See you in my baby shower (hopefully soon!) I will only have one planner for our entire life and occasions to be celebrted.. Only Maria's team :) I love you all. Thank you for making my day extra special :) My dream wedding was made into a reality. Here are some pictures as a proof. Love love them all. read more

Like many couples, we had to postpone our wedding this past year due to COVID. After much waiting, re-planning and stress, we were finally able to have our wedding this past May 2021 and could not have done it without Maria and Tiffany's help. We love you both!!! We had them help us with coordinating everything on the day of our wedding and they put together a detailed timeline of events for us to follow since we had plenty of things to do that day (tea ceremony in the morning, church at noon, photos in the afternoon, and reception in the evening). As we had to re-plan throughout the year with COVID, Maria provided a lot of support and encouragement to us and was easy to communicate with whenever we had a question or concern. On our wedding day, they were both so helpful in keeping our day organized but also making sure that our entire bridal party was taken care of. They would consistently take care of things before we've even thought of it. Tiffany was awesome at fixing the girl's hairs and dresses for photos and Maria was so thoughtful in making sure we were able to eat during downtime and that we stopped by the photo booth before the end of the night. They really took away a lot of the stress that day and we felt confident that everything would be taken care of in their hands. We would highly recommend both of them to coordinate any of our friends and family's wedding. Besides being great at their jobs, they're both very personable and easy to talk to and we felt like we've gained two new friends after our wedding was over :) Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of the wedding season as you continue to navigate the COVID pandemic! Stay safe! read more

Maria Maria Maria!!! We booked Modest Magnolia when they were still Top Event Planner back in 2018 and I'm so happy to have followed Maria and the team to their new Modest Magnolia venture!! :) From the start, Maria was responsive, helpful, and always the kindest!! Like many other brides, we had to reschedule and replan multiple times due to COVID, and Maria was so helpful and understanding every step of the way! I still remember she was one of the only vendors to text me on our would-be 2020 date wishing us well wishes !! One of the reasons we went with Modest Magnolia is because they have a ton of experience with Asian weddings, specifically Vietnamese weddings! So if you're a Viet bride like myself, Maria/MM is the way to go!!! Maria understands and has so much experience with Viet cultural traditions, family expectations, wedding timelines, etc...! You definitely want someone who is familiar with Asian weddings! Also, Maria was always ready to go with vendor suggestions. I always CC'ed her on vendor correspondence and it felt like she was my respected manager, so other vendors would always be kind as well! Maria is SUPER detail oriented, always on top of her game, and thinks of everything! I can write pages and pages on how great Maria is but I'll list out a few examples! - For our reception welcome area, we had boxes with hand sanitizers/face masks for our guests, and Maria went above and beyond by finding a bookshelf at our venue to display the boxes! We were just going to have them out on the table but Maria made it so aesthetic. :P - During our ceremony, we did a Vietnamese tea ceremony and Maria took care of the logistics to brew hot tea at the perfect time for the ceremony. She was also the one to adjust my dress every time it needed adjusting. - Maria attended our rehearsal and meetings with our venue coordinator and basically handled it all!! During the meetings, she would always have the up-to-date papers printed of our bridal party lineup, table set up, etc.. We had a big bridal party and she perfectly relayed all of the instructions for walking down the aisle! Aaand just some more bullet points of things Maria did for us: - Brought wedding sparklers for photos (such a nice surprise!) - Provided templates and worksheets for everything we needed e.g. seating charts, table layouts, etc.. - Gave us instructions for toasting and cutting cake (so simple but I really appreciated every instruction bc I didn't know what to do lol!) - Had assistants to help out - Led the table greetings, collected the cards, and neatly placed them in the safe in our room afterwards - Packed us to-go boxes of food and dessert and left them in our room at the end of the night - Caught duplicates in our seating chart - Immediately sent me photos/videos she took on her iPhone that were perfectly chronologically in order and recaptured the day!! I appreciated this a lot! She took some of the best photos/vids and made sure to capture each little moment! At the end of the wedding day, my partner and I literally said to each other "what the heck we should be paying Maria so much more, she did so much for us!!" We did the "month of" package but as you can see, Maria went above and beyond throughout the entire wedding journey and not just the month of! Wedding planners are really doing the most and deserve so much!!! I really felt so carefree, confident, and secure having Maria by my side the entire wedding journey. On the day itself, I didn't have to think about anything at all and basically Maria just told us what to do and where to go next. And I feel like that's the way it should be! We truly got to enjoy our day, stress free. I really don't know how you do it all, Maria! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all that you do and for all that you did for our wedding journey. My family and friends all praised Maria as well - a perfect testament to her craft! My only regret is not getting a proper photo together haha so I will end this review here with a behind the scenes photo of Maria giving us instructions during our cake cutting. read more

Maria and her team (Abby and Bre) are amazing! We were so happy to have booked them as our day of coordinator team - everything went so smoothly and stress-free for our wedding day at Rancho Las Lomas. They handled everything day of and we never had to worry about a thing. We felt like super stars being pampered with water, keeping us on track for our timeline, and we were able to fully enjoy our wedding and have fun! Maria also fielded alot of our questions during the planning process, printed our seating map poster, and jumped on whenever we needed her. I would definitely recommend Modest Magnolia to anyone. Looking back, I can see that there's no way I could have done all this by myself and I'm so happy that we had Maria and her team to make our dream wedding so beautifully orchestrated read more

A wedding is a HUGE investment and a very special but enormously stressful time in your life. Working with The Modest Magnolia will be the best investment you ever make. Please stop researching other planners. I am a particular and picky former bride with events/restaurant experience and they far exceeded anything I could have ever imagined. We were fortunate enough to find Tiffany Kuo and able to work with her. We had to cancel our first wedding a month prior due to the pandemic. We finally pulled off a small, but intimate and safe wedding that felt incredibly special and unique to my Husband and I. Tiffany planned 3 versions of our wedding with us and was truly our rock and safe place. She helped us create a stunning event in a difficult unprecedented time with kindness, grace, and utmost professionalism. We worked with the best of the best vendors through her network which we would have never found on our own. She was always mindful of our budget and entertained all of our wildest ideas. She is such a perfectionist, she photoshopped all of our rentals and food so we could envision how everything would look. She made countless schedules and timelines to keep us organized. She not only showed up for every meeting we had, but was there from sunrise until the wee hours of the morning on the day of making sure everything was wrapped up. We received compliments from all of our married friends on how flawless everything was. They all want to hire her for any upcoming events they will throw. We will certainly do the same. A warm thank you and shoutout to Brandon and Maria who were also with us on our special day keeping us calm and anticipating every need. They literally made sure I was hydrated and had a tissue for every tear I cried. With everything else she had to do, Tiffany was even the one who secured my veil. And I'm so glad she did. She was our planner, but is now our dear friend and like family to us. We adore her and can't say enough just how much we needed her. Don't hesitate to reach out to her before she gets all booked up! read more

I want to start off by saying... Maria is such a HUGE part of why our wedding turned out as fun and memorable as we envisioned it to be. I am forever grateful for her organizational skills and sweet and kind heart. She is also super prepared for anything catastrophic that could happen during a wedding, probably even a zombie apocalypse hahaha. Early 2020, I found Modest Magnolia while lurking on Reddit and scouring Yelp and Wedding Wire, joining SoCal wedding FB groups and spending hours on IG doing research (I must've checked out dozens of vendors' IG accounts). I really understood the assignment; my married friends told me vendors can make or break your wedding. I'm really detail-oriented about certain things, I've had many friends ask for my vacation itineraries because I plan my vacation days down to the half hour lol. Like when I get into planning, I can get borderline obsessive. So I knew I needed someone who could take over for me on my wedding day, someone I knew I could trust 110% could do things the way I wanted to, but could also make split-second decisions for me on the day of because I really wanted to be hands off on my wedding day. I found Modest Magnolia's Yelp account... Everyone's reviews mentioned something about an 11-page questionnaire and about how meticulous Maria was. Cool, that's exactly what I wanted. We booked our wedding day with Maria, then the whole pandemic happened... My husband and I work in healthcare, so we put wedding planning aside for most of 2020. Fast forward to a couple months before the wedding. We had some issues come up, like with our florist (my husband was super upset with how they handled some things) and Maria ended up being the messenger/mediator and I felt so bad having her stuck in the middle but also was super impressed with how well she handled things. This was also during the Delta variant surge, our guests were like 95% vaccinated but we asked Maria if she could ask vendors and guests (upon check in) to wear masks for everyone's safety and she was so quick and willing to do so. We also had a lot of moving parts (dessert, boba, In n Out truck) and everything was in place and on time for our wedding. We actually finished the whole dinner program one hour early! From prep to ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, everything flowed SO smoothly. We had an extra hour after dinner to mingle and spend time with our guests which we were so grateful to have. Some of our guests we hadn't seen for years either because of physical distance and/or the pandemic, and it was a blessing to be able to spend as much time with them as we could've. My husband and I aren't big on parties, but we just wanted our wedding to be a big fun gathering for everyone especially after the year 2020 was. Up to this day, my husband and I think fondly of that day... It was honestly the best day of our lives. All thanks to how flawlessly Maria executed things :) We actually went to three weddings within 2 months after our wedding and a lot of the guests at those weddings were guests at ours too, they said ours was the most fun wedding they've ever been to. May I also mention she always has an emergency kit on her... During our reception, one of my cousins asked if I had Pepcid because he wanted to take some before drinking (iykyk lol) and I didn't bring any. I asked Maria and she gave me two tablets! Haha. My mind was blown, she even had Pepcid on her! Some of the things she did that made me realize how thoughtful Maria is: - As soon as cocktail hour began and we finished taking family photos, she handed me my alcoholic drink of choice, I didn't even have to go to the bar for it - She made sure my husband and I got some time at the photobooth to take pics of just the two of us, since we were getting pulled in all directions by our guests lol - She put aside a copy of our dinner menu (I was planning to make a time capsule of our wedding and forgot to ask Maria to do it but she did it anyway) - She very carefully put away all of our photos, guestbook, and even put my bouquet in water and handed everything to our best man for safekeeping - She made sure we had two cupcakes of each flavor to enjoy the next day (we had cupcakes instead of cake served to our guests and it was all gone by the time dinner was over lol)... again, I didn't ask but Maria thought we'd want to eat our own wedding cupcakes and did it for us without asking :) My husband actually was a groomsman at another wedding that Maria was the coordinator of, so we saw her again 2 months after our wedding. It was such a delight to see her! We hugged like friends who haven't seen each other in a while. I had to ask her for Tums because hubby was having heartburn and already took Pepcid, unfortunately she only had Pepcid on her. (Kinda had deja vu, I asked her for Pepcid at my own wedding lol) The next day she texted me a photo of a mini-bottle of Tums saying, "GUESS WHO HAS TUMS NOW?" Hahaha omg Maria is truly THE BEST! read more

Tiffany and her team at Modest Magnolia are top notch! We contracted her to plan our wedding, organize and hire vendors and provide day-of wedding support with her and 2 team members. Tiffany exceeded our expectations on all fronts. She's connected to the top vendors in the Southern California area and her catering recommendation crowned our wedding as the best wedding food any of the guests have had! She only works with true professionals in the industry and is a wealth of knowledge. She also creatively provides solutions to avoid what would be a stressful situation, which is often when planning a wedding! She's kind, easy to work with, and an overall amazing person. If you have any doubts about hiring Tiffany and her team for any event, I'll leave you with this story..... As we were walking up for my first look with my now-wife, Tiffany asked "what do you need before you see your wife for the first time." She opens a clipboard that's she's holding and it's filled with mini Altoids, gum, breath spray, and hand lotion.... She thinks of everything to make sure the event is smooth and that everything is covered!! Tiffany is straight up the best in the business, and working with Modest Magnolia is the best money you'll spend when planning any event. read more

If you are considering Modest Magnolia (MM) and have been led by the divine to read this review, it's a sign that you book their impeccable service now. No need to read any further. For inquiring minds, my husband and I got married on July 22, 2022! Thanks to the enormous efforts and good graces of MM, it was truly the best day ever (for us and our guests)! We were one of many pandemic couples - got engaged in April 2019 and had to postpone our original wedding date of July 2020. This created the unique situation in which we worked with MM over the course of 3 years (so take it from us)! We were referred by a friend who worked in the industry and was also planning her own wedding - we knew we must have hit the jackpot in all the wedding planners. We sure did get lucky with Maria :) Summary of why MM: 1. Professional, Knowledgable Experts - Maria knows what she's doing and has been at this for a very long time. Trust her process. She will answer all your questions from what's typically done, what colors look good, the order of show and making it your own, to the timing of it all - she's got it DOWN to a science! Have no fear. She brings assistants also and everything runs so smoothly. 2. Great Vendor Connections - we worked with various MM vendors and met some along the way and they are incredible. Be sure to check them out! It's also fun when they all come together for your wedding too because they've already worked with one another and are close so it's like a tight knit group reunion which you'd love to have at your wedding! We're all family here. 3. They Think of Everything! - Maria fed us donuts. Yes, you read that right. When my husband and I were busy greeting guests, having fun and dancing the night away, she made sure to spoon feed us the most delectable donuts (one of the vendors which she recommended - refer back to #2 don't sleep on the donuts!). She offered us fresh mints throughout the night, they helped me in and out of my dress, she made sure we stopped for photos at the booth and we felt like guests at our own wedding! She lended us table numbers, offered a garter, cake cutting knife, she grabbed all our wedding gifts and stored them away safely, she cleaned and packed everything away at the end. Oh, we also didn't have a videographer and she recorded all our memories, too! We truly didn't have to lift a finger. 4. Kind, Sweet, Pleasant - They Become Your Family. This is where I want to give MM Infinity Stars. There are many services out there, and truly MM stands out as the best, and what makes them truly special is their heart and soul. Maria has become our family. At the end of the night, I asked when she would wrap up and she responded, "I was done an hour ago. I'm just hanging out." My heart melted and I just want to hug her so tight thinking of that moment. Maria is the most fun, beautiful inside and out, has the most contagious laugh, positive, hard working fighter and I'm so glad we met her!!!!! She is also soooo patient and has the best, kind attitude: despite Bridezilla moments or family going to her from every single direction, she kept her cool and calm demeanor ALWAYS. And she was so sweet and fun on top of that, still! She made my wedding day the best day and we truly cannot thank her enough. We still text, had a FaceTime call, keep up on Instagram, planning to get together for dinner, etc. Do yourself a favor by working with MM and never look back! Enjoy the ride! read more

Honestly, for all the brides debating about hiring a wedding planner, DO IT. Tiffany was our day of coordinator and she was AMAZING! My husband who didn't care much about the vendors and details, told me that he was very impressed with Tiffany and that every time he went to do something or get everyone, she was already on top of it. Our bridal party was great, always offering to help set up, but honestly, they had nothing to do except to enjoy the day with us. Going into the wedding, I thought I would be stressed and annoyed with everything, but the whole day, I was calm and having the best time with my girls. The only moment I had a mini freakout was when one of the groomsmen came to tell me the other groomsmen had tore his pants. I immediately got up to see what the damage was and try to rectify the situation. By the time I got there, Tiffany was already sewing up his pants. Our wedding was postponed from October 2020 to Feb 2021 and Modest Magnolia was so accommodating and understanding. They did their best to work with us and helped me bring me wedding to life. read more

There was a time during wedding planning when I thought, "I don't really need a coordinator, do I?" LOL, thinking back to our wedding day, there was no way we would have accomplished anything if we didn't have Maria, Remy, and Chelsea by our side. We never had to worry or keep track of anything. The day was completely ours to enjoy! Everything was perfect! It blows me away how prepared they were for every situation. Like when my make up artist couldn't cover up my tattoos enough, Maria reached into her fanny pack and pulled out the perfect concealer! LIKE A RABBIT OUT OF A HAT!! She was absolutely amazing!! Pre-wedding, Maria had great recommendations for vendors and promptly answered our never ending questions. One month before our wedding, she took over and coordinated with our vendors. It was such a relief not having to worry about contracts, quantities, payment, set up, break down, etc. She set up a timeline for the entire day for us and for our vendors, down to the minute! On our wedding day, she came with 2 of her associates who were total sweethearts, Chelsea who stayed with the groom the entire time, and Remy who stayed with me. They made sure we were well hydrated, reminded us to eat, made sure all my flyaways were tamed, made sure his shirt was tucked in, kept us on schedule and everything running flawlessly! I cannot recommend this team enough. I've been very observant at the weddings I've attended eversince; Maria and team always do an amazing job and every bride that has been able to book her has agreed! Based off my many bridesmaiding experiences too, this team definitely outshines the rest. You're in very good hands with this team! THE. BEST. COORDINATOR. EVER. Do you want to be carefree & stress-free on your wedding day? Do you want someone to put out fires by herself? Do you need a third opinion if you and your partner can't decide? Or a second opinion because your partner isn't participating? Do you want the sweetest and most communicative coordinator of all time? If you answered, YES to all of the above. Look no more! Tiffany is your girl! Tiffany was our friend's wedding coordinator, who highly recommended her to us. We can see why. Her program timeline is so detailed; I think it was 10+ pages. She made sure we worked within our budget; she was realistic about our situation and made any hiccups smooth sailing. We hired Tiffany for the day of coordination, but I was able to text her whenever I had a question. The goal for the wedding was to make sure our guest had a great time, so truth be told the icing on the cake was how she treated our guest! We received countless compliments from everyone from our bridal party to our guests about her. For example, she even helped someone with their luggage. Everyone had a blast; we'd certainly attribute that to her ability to organize a seamless wedding. Tiffany went above and beyond, not only for us but for everyone who attended. Attentive, communicative, detail-oriented, SO SUPER SWEET! read more

Maria is so awesome to work with. After I got engaged, I immediately met with Maria. I had seen her work on Instagram and was super impressed with her weddings. Well, a pandemic and four years later we were able to finally have our wedding. Maria took care of everything and made it the wedding we've always wanted. She's caring, attentive and kind. You couldn't ask for more in a person. She even took care of our dog! She made sure we didn't have to think of anything on our wedding day. Her staff is great as well, Dorothy helped me steam my dress and took care of us all day. Maria has access to five star vendors that produce beautiful results. Our guests were very impressed with the wedding. We definitely recommend Maria! read more

I just want to get married over and over again just to have an excuse to work with Tiffany again. I don't know if there are enough positive adjectives to describe how I feel about her and how special she made my husband and I feel throughout the planning and execution of our special day. I've been following Tiffany & Maria's work for quite some time before I even got engaged as I was obsessed with their beautiful work in infusing modern design with asian traditions. When it finally came time to start planning the wedding, without hesitation I knew I had to work with them! I had a challenging reception venue and I knew if anyone could help me revive where I had to have it...it was going to be them! After reaching out and inquiring (which was quick and seamless), I was assigned to work with Tiffany and that's when our love affair started. After sending her a few inspiration photos and talking through what I was envisioning, she just got it. I mean I didn't doubt her, but she was able to convey back to me what I wanted which was incredibly important in making me feel confident and comfortable. She truly has her client's best interest at heart and will be completely transparent about budget and feasibility in execution. I had a specific vision and she brought my dream wedding to life with the strictest parameters from our venue. I'll be dreaming about our day forever... I had a crazy schedule - 3am H&M, Tea Ceremony, Photos, Western Ceremony and Chinese Reception - but never once did I feel like I was nearing a breakdown during the planning process and the actual day, you know why? Because again Tiffany is such a BOSS! She is well organized, calm, patient, professional and OVERLY communicative. If there were any issues, I barely heard of it because she was already handling it! I mean the woman is a god...the best man ripped his pants during his grand entrance and not only did she have a sewing kit on hand, she freaking sewn it back for him within minutes! When it came down to the last two weeks prior to the wedding, I didn't have to worry about anything because Tiffany had it all laid out for my husband and I. From calling all the vendors to sending us all the necessary schedules and leading our rehearsal...everything was flawless. Also, I'm the first one to say that I have a large and demanding asian family with high expectations, and the fact that every. single. person. complimented her and her team of assistants says something! Yes we were overjoyed with everything, but this day was also one for our parents to and to see the look and happiness on their face on how everything came together was incredibly priceless. We really couldn't have done it without the support, love and knowledge of Tiffany!! read more

I took a bit of time to write this review because I wanted to illustrate and express how truly talented, patient, and graceful Maria is. We worked together for a year and a half before my wedding. I booked her full-on after our initial meeting. She is the saint behind (almost) every single all-white wedding in the local area. Bring in the white carpet, the lighting, the best florist, DJ, vendors, and watch her work her magic. Not only does she execute flawlessly, but through the entire year and a half, there wasn't anything that she couldn't handle. We had a lot roadblocks and I watched and listened to her. Every direction was with our best interest at heart. Every sentence was eloquent and graceful. Maria works best when you need her, and when you let her take reigns. I NEEDED her. She answered every question promptly, and gives the best advice. She's your best friend throughout the entire process. On our wedding day, Maria brought her A-team, Chelsea, Janaye, and the GLORIOUS, second-to-none, best, most amazing person I've met in my entire life, (no exaggeration), Remi. I was tired, sick, could not believe our day was finally here. Remi is the best friend you wish you had growing up and into adulthood. She's the Corey Matthews to Shawn Hunter, the Monica Gellar to Rachel Green, she's Batman if you're Robin. She made sure my hair was out of my face, had enough honey and tea to coat my throat, held my cough drops, helped my mom, made sure my dress was perfect, eased my stress, and made sure the stars were aligned that night....for me. (Remi, if you are reading this, I'm not worthy.) In all seriousness, my wedding day was THE best day of my entire life and I owe all of that to Maria Tran. If you are looking around for a planner--don't even bother. Hire Maria, full-time, because she will light up your life like you could never imagine. read more

Maria and the Modest Magnolia team created our dream wedding at La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes, CA on 8-10-23, & we will be forever grateful! We literally could not have done it without her. She was professional, responsive, creative, and knowledgeable. She hooked us up with excellent vendors, contributed great ideas, and was the most important part of the smooth success of the day! My family was so impressed with the event, & as the bride, I felt totally taken care of. I particularly appreciated how she was able to wrap us out of the venue with precision, allowing us to end the evening on a high note. For months leading up to the big day, she put in a lot of time and effort to ensure everything was addressed, and all my ideas implemented. When we first connected, I was so nervous that I had no idea where to start, and she was able to instantly ease my fears and get the ball rolling quickly. By the way, I'm a film producer with particularly high expectations for organization, vendor resources, and efficient planning, and she absolutely nailed it. It was a truly wonderful collaboration, and I could not recommend her services enough! Thank you, Maria!! read more

Words can never perfectly describe how thankful I am to have found Modest Magnolia to plan my special day!! Tiffany Kuo was my planner and she is seriously THE BEST, a total sweetheart and went above and beyond being our day of coordinator and planner. I first initially found Modest Magnolia through Yelp and Instagram. I sent an inquiry and they were quick to respond. I then set up a call with Tiffany and clicked with her instantly. They are with EVERY CENT for what they do. My wedding went so smoothly and perfect thanks to them! From the detailed itinerary to packing a slice of cake and desserts for my husband and I to eat in our room after the wedding. I have some friends who have experiences with their planners that say they hop off as soon as they get paid but that was definitely not the case with Tiffany. She was constantly there for me through EVERYTHING, a simple text or call away helped me with every detail and gave me an idea if I was stuck or needed a vendor recommendation. And every person she did recommend was terrific, enough to please my groomzilla husband LOL. She was also very realistic with me and practical with suggestions and her input which I loved because I feel like most vendors aren't like that when it comes to weddings. The attention to detail, love and care Tiffany put into mine and my husbands wedding I can never perfectly describe. I recommend her and her team to everyone, they not only do the best, go above and beyond but do it with compassion and so much care. If I could have my wedding all over again I would as long as I have Tiffany! Lol. So book them now!!! read more

Maria deserves so much more than 5 stars. I would probably give her a billion. I mean she was the perfect coordinator to have for my day of. When I first started planning the wedding I had already booked my big vendors bc I kinda already knew who I wanted. I spoke to a different planning company and they basically told me to hire them full time bc it would be better. I decided to call Maria bc everyone raves about her. Upon talking to her I immediately liked her. She was so warm and welcoming and when I told her all my big vendors were booked, she told me to save my money and book her for partial planning only to save. I mean what kind of honest person is that? I knew from there that's she was my person. She even offered to help me whenever I needed help with anything and said to text or call her whenever. To me, that was everything because with work and a 2 year old I was afraid I wouldn't have time to do some stuff. I tried my very best to NOT be bridezilla.... lol... and because of Maria, I was able to let loose and enjoy everything. I can't stop complimenting her. From her mannerism to her personality & her professionalism... it was all on point. She help put together a detailed time line for our day and for all the vendors so that everything was smooth. With all that goes on in that day... I definitely would have wasted so much time. We were on point with everything! When someone who truly cares about their company, their clients, their work it shows. My family, bridal party, & guest all raved about the girl who fed me mints and water and made sure everything was perfect for me the whole time. My friends who is getting married even wished they hired her because they saw how great she was. I put my trust into her that day and she made it PERFECTION! I can go on and on and on about how great she is because she left me with ZERO complaints. I am glad to say we are now friends forever hahaha! Love you Maria and team! read more

I had the pleasure of working with Maria, Remi and Chelsea on my wedding day and I couldn't be happier! I booked Modest Magnolia for day of coordinating and did not worry one bit on the big day! My husband and I were so stressed leading up to the day but we felt like everything was in good hands once Maria showed up that morning and handled the whole day for us! We loved how organized and professional the service was, ie creating a timeline for us, to contacting all of our vendors, to offering us refreshments and snacks during down time. Maria and her team executed our wedding day smoothly and effortlessly. She also has a great sense of design and detail that makes all the difference! Not to mention, my bridal party and family members all felt very comfortable working with her team because they were all very friendly and had a smile on throughout the day! We didn't think booking a coordinator or planner was necessary but we are sooo glad that we decided to do it because it allowed us to enjoy our wedding day! read more

I wish I could give Modest Magnolia, Tiffany and her whole team 100 stars. They are truly the best in the game. If you have any questions about whether or not to spend budget on wedding planning and day of coordination let me tell you-- IT IS WORTH. IT. And we only had 34 guests! The modest Magnolia team is prepared for anything. They show up on time and make sure everything is PERFECT. Groom spilled on his suit-- immediate stain removal. I had a headache-- advil was there in the blink of an eye. We even got back to our room to find EVERYTHING had been cleaned and organized, with waters next to our bedside tables. Truly, I cannot imagine working with more professional, reliable and kind humans. Our wedding would NOT have been what it was without them. In terms of pre planning, Tiffany has amazing taste and an INCREDIBLE roster of vendors. We had guests constantly saying "this is the best food I have ever had at a wedding" or "these are the most gorgeous florals I have ever seen." We trusted all of Tiffany's recommendations without question and I have zero regrets. The MM is always 5 steps ahead of everything (and that's saying a lot coming from me, probably the most type A person on the planet.) I can't say enough good things. I wish I could individually and personally talk to every person considering working with MM to convey how genuine these words are. Tiffany and the whole MM team, thank you for making the best day of our lives happen. We love you all! read more

Thank you Tiffany from Modest Magnolia so much for all of your help coordinating my wedding! As you may know, it was very stressful to plan a Covid wedding; however, Tiffany and her team made it happened. We experienced a really successful event. Everything went amazingly well that day and I cannot express how appreciative we are for everything that you guys did for us. Modest Magnolia was one of the easiest vendors to work with, so accommodating and did everything we wanted without complaints. We altered the reception timeline multiple times and even the night before the wedding and this wasn't a problem for them. Tiffany went above and beyond from the start. She's very organized and responsive. The timeline was comprehensive even to the tiniest details. She worked with many vendors in the wedding industry and had provided me good recommendations, making the planning process easier. On the day of, Tiffany was so attentive and even made sure I had something to drink and eat and was happy. The team also stayed and helped us with clean up. Thank you for the great and excellent support given by you and your team in organizing and managing our wedding. I am so glad that I chose Modest Magnolia as my wedding coordinator. We could not have asked for a better team to prepare our wedding day. We booked Maria almost 2 years before our wedding date before working out any details because we knew that she was the most important aspect to making our wedding perfect. Like all weddings, we had some unexpected surprises. We found out that our ballroom for the reception was booked for another wedding the afternoon of our wedding day. The team only had 3 hours to flip the ballroom, including wall to wall white carpet and floor to ceiling draping all around. Maria brought in extra vendors to make our vision possible. She's professional, thoughtful, and honest. We highly recommend Maria and her team to anyone who wants a beautiful, memorable, and well-organized wedding. read more

This review is for Tiffany! Tiffany was PHENOMENAL as my day of coordinator! Although we hired Modest Magnolia's Month of Package, the communication was always consistent and thorough with Tiffany from day one, even before we paid our initial deposit. Tiffany was always readily available with suggestions, recommendations, honest opinions, and even offered cost savings solutions! For example, our reception venue was charging a few dollars more for table cloth linen than one of her vendors and she caught that instantaneously. She is so sharp and definitely knows her stuff! Tiffany also has this calm demeanor about her that puts everyone at ease, despite how chaotic it may be. Another example was when our DJ had technical difficulties, but within minutes, Tiffany resolved it! Like how amazing can you be? She is the jack of all trades, I tell you! Not only was Tiffany amazing, but her team was equally as great. We had Carolyn, Brandon, and Mac as Tiffany's assistants and they were wonderful! I honestly can go on and on and on, but Tiffany is definitely THE best decision my husband and I made throughout our wedding planning process. If you are hesitant at booking the Modest Magnolia team at all, please put those worries aside - I can promise you that you won't regret work with this team! read more
