I know that there are 5 star and 1 star ratings for Modernistic. I WAS a 5 star customer and had them come back 2 additional times for cleaning. Each time they became worse and worse. There is no communication between the management and the people that come out to the home and do the work. They came out to do three separate jobs and became more and more sloppy. The did a superficial carpet cleaning and did not clean behind doors. Getting them to come back out and fix the sloppy job is impossible. Bottom line- use them once. I had been using Modernistic for about 5 years - carpets were cleaned adequately but the last time was, in fact, the last time they will ever be in my home. According to their own records the serviced my home 10 times. Each time it was "one room." The last time they showed up the technician told my daughter we would be charged for 2 rooms. I called the manager on duty and she told me that basically I had 'gotten away with it' the previous *10 times*! I could see if they had been there once or twice, but to have been there 10 times then all of a sudden my one room morphed into two...? I'm back with Stanley Steemer! read more

Had an appointment time between 11:00-1:00 for air duct cleaning. At 1:20 received a call from customer service saying they were 20 min behind.(which was already 20 min behind). Waited another 25 min and I ended up cancelling the work. I don't understand why they tell you they might be there at 11:00 when there is no way for them to be there. read more

Would have done a much better job myself, given the tool. They mislead on website. They do not use the high suction, that can lift a bowling ball, on your carpet. That pressure is reserved for other applications. Order a professional & let the modernistic kids play someplace else. read more

I wish I could give this company zero stars. DO NOT USE THEM! They will rip you off. Scheduled tile cleaning, two twenty year olds showed up. Using a carpet cleaning hose, sprayed my shower. Said "it won't clean", charged me $86.00 (the minimum). The water hose broke, flooded my bathroom floor. The company does not respond to complaints. Their 100% money back guarantee is a sham. I recently had my bedrooms and family room carpets cleaned but the next day when the carpet was fully dry the carpet looked like it had just been wet not cleaned. While I realize the carpet was heavily soiled in walking areas none of the carpet looked clean. My husband suspects that because he didn't go for the switch in price (one price quoted on the phone then a higher price when the guy showed up) the carpet was just saturated with water. It took over 24 hours to completely dry. It was still damp the next morning. In addition He never moved any thing not even a small trash can. I will never never use Modernistic again. I am very disappointed in Modernistic's service. After clearing the way for the carpet cleaning and waiting for my 2 hour window (2pm to 4pm), the technician finally called 20 minutes after the window ended to notify me that he was at least 45-60 minutes or more away due to traffic. I was in desperate need of carpet cleaning and air duct cleaning in my home, and decided on Modernistic to do the job. Only thought they did carpet cleaning, but was pleasantly surprised to learn that they do both. I had always cleaned my carpet, but Modernistic definitely did a better job. :) As far as the air duct cleaning, I was shown before and after pictures of the ducts. Before the ducts were cleaned I could see wood chips, dust, and dirt from the camera. After, I was actually able to see definition in the duct, and how clean it could get. What a difference! I thought they did a good job. I also had 2 coupons from Modernistic which saved me quite a bit of money, and helped me decide who I wanted to do the job. read more

Very dissatisfied. Carpet left very wet, asked technician to come back and go back over the carpet which I was told I would have to wait until the next day even though it was only 1pm. Management unhelpful. Will not use this technician or this location ever again. If you have gotten a good technician already make sure you ask for the same person the next time. read more

This place does not have very good customer service at all. They cleaned one couch and one chair which came out okay, nothing special. And cleaned my carpet. I did have stains from my dog on the carpet. The 2 guys came to my house and did two pieces of furniture and 4 rooms and were only there 45 minutes. I told them I had stains on my carpet before they started, but when they left I still had the same stains on my carpet and it cost me $370! I didn't expect it to be perfect, but the stains looked exactly the same. I talked to customer service and they seemed all concerned about my problem and said they would get back to me, but still have not gotten back to me and it's been almost 2 weeks! I will never use them again. I can do a better job myself renting a steam cleaner and paying $50! read more

Had a scheduled appointment between 9am and noon. They called me in the morning said they would be out to my house by 1pm and that they would call when they were on their way. Well, 120pm....nothing. So, I sat around on a Saturday and wasted my day. I called and told them not to bother coming out. At this point, I couldn't trust anything I was told. I would never recommend this company! The ONLY reason I'm giving Modernistic a one star rating is because yelp wouldn't allow me to rate them zero stars!!!! Please don't use Modernistic to service your home or business!!! Recently, we allowed Modernistic to clean our home. Two of their workers cracked BOTH my mirrored dresser and chest ALL GLASS! Being that TWO items were damaged it's hard for us to believe that the workers were unaware of the damage that they caused plus they left pieces of glass on the floor near my chest. I have pictures to prove it! My child or I could've been cut! Anyways, we noticed the damage once the carpet dried. I took pictures and contacted Modernistic immediately! I sent them the pictures and the sell invoice from my items! I've been getting the "round around" ever since! Everyone is always in "meetings"! Then they tried to offer to repair my items! They're glass! I'm frustrated because they know that they caused damage in our home, they have never denied it, yet they will not take responsibility to resolve this issue. The sad part part is I haven't even used them yet! We've been remodeling our home for awhile now! I'm taking them to court! Please take my advice, I usually don't write reviews, but DO NOT do business with Modernistic!!!! read more

Then they found it and stated they would have someone out in an hour. Hour came and went, no cleaner. Called them back again and they said they couldn't do it to the next day. Cancelled and went with another local company. Wont use Modernistic again. read more

My experience was very well with using this company. The crew called and came earlier then they said they would be there. They started right away and only stopped to show me traffic patterns that would not come out. We discussed before the cleaning what pieces of furniture I wanted moved, and they moved and cleaned under all the pieces we discussed. They even used these white things around the corners to make sure they didn't hit the paint. I would use this company again. read more

I had my carpet cleaned on Saturday, the service guys was very nice. BUT... I am not happy with the cleaning. I was told cat stains would be removed and quite honestly the stains look even worse then they did before the carpet guy got to my place. He said he could not get the stains out. This was the whole reason why I was getting my carpet cleaned in the first place. I had a couple of other stains that just look like dirt stains in my hall closet, those were NOT removed either. I paid $179.00 and I still have stains all over my rug. NOT HAPPY. I was told when I made my appt. that stains would be removed. "Yes we will be able to remove cat throw up stains" Not the case!! would NOT reccomend. read more

These guys say they'll move furniture. Don't believe them. We removed all our stuff from our cabinets as requested when making the appointment and were assured by the person making the appointment that the guy would move our stuff if we removed the nick-nacks, then when the guys got here the "boss man" says we can't touch those solid oak wood 2x2ft cabinets because they "might break". I have 5 of them. Yeah they are heavy, solid oak usually is. It's solid oak for god sake, its not going to break. The boss was just lazy, made his helper do all of the work. The only thing he was lifting was his cell phone. But he had no problem watching me attempt to drag the cabinets myself. Stood right there and watched me struggle attempting to move the cabinets till I just gave up and walked away in frustration. I'm a 60 year old disabled guy. All I can say is when the "boss man" walked outside to play on his cell phone his helper was more then happy to assist me in moving the cabinets while "boss man" was busy wandering around in my front yard and not looking. Guess he didn't notice our security cameras recording him. He walked over 50 yards away from my front door wandering around my yard talking on his phone. The "boss" spent another 15 minutes sitting in their van while the helper did the job. Suppose I shouldn't complain, if he hadn't gone outside to play with his phone the helper wouldn't have been able to assist me moving the furniture. He showed up late as well, we were their first appointment of the morning. After the high pressure sale of the scotch-guard "boss man" again just sprayed the scotch guard around the furniture that's now in the center of my living room floor but wouldn't move the furniture and put scotch guard in the middle of the room, he just knocked $30 off instead. So about a third of our carpet didn't get any scotch guard what-so-ever, right in the middle of the room in the high traffic areas where you really need it to be applied. I'm not saying that all of Modernistic's job site supervisors are like this but this guy was. His helper was stellar, friendly, helpful, attentive to details and apologetic. The carpets were cleaned well, the helper was fast and attentive to details. I'd use them again but if they send another supervisor like this guy they'll be leaving without doing the job. But the carpets clean and the wife is happy, that is all that is important, happy wife, happy life. read more

I paid Modernistic to come out and clean my carpets on August 7, 2015 and the guy that came out BACKED INTO MY VAN (parked on private property nowhere NEAR the Modernistic van), came back into my home to clean the carpets (in less than 15 minutes) and LEFT WITHOUT TELLING ME HE BACKED INTO MY VAN!! I have video surveillance footage proving he did it! I went and got a quote at a highly rated, reputable collision center in Ann Arbor (as requested by Modernistic claims department) to have this damage fixed-- over $2500! The collision company informed me that the security bar inside the door is damaged-- putting MY safety in jeopardy!! NOW Modernistic is telling me that their insurance company is NOT GOING TO FIX THE DAMAGE they caused because Kelly Blue Book says my van isn't worth that much!!!!!! They're dodging my calls and hanging up on me repeatedly! Over a month later, my van still is not fixed and have no information or communication from the company as to the status of this claim. I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service Modernistic has provided. read more

I've been a loyal customer over 15 yrs and 2 homes. Scheduled appt. on new online system this time. I never received a breakdown of pricing so I decided to call the next day, just to get my official quote. I advised that I had a coupon she said, 'no prob, show the tech when he arrives.' I was not home when carpet and upholstery was cleaned, my husband was. I reviewed the bill when I got home and realized that it was too high. Tech took coupon, raised price to accommodate accordingly so that coupon did not effect original quote. I called Modernistic to explain, the first rep said, 'I will have a Supervisor call you back.' A Supervisor promptly did and said she 'completely understood and would have to speak to a Manager to see how to fix the situation.' Two days later and no callback.... I, once again, call and explain the situation to yet another person. I was advised that 'Jeff' did review my service and made notes stating basically that 'I should have read the fine print online.'
