The workman lied to the customer to scare them into having their dryer ducts cleaned more frequently. We were told that dryer lint is the number one cause of house fires. Actually, cooking, space heaters, fireplaces, electrical shorts, candles, smoking, and Christmas trees are all far more common causes of house fires. read more

These guys are great. I work for a carpet cleaning/restoration company in Austin Tx. I was visiting my family here in Lansing. My mom needed her carpets cleaned for the holidays. Rook and Emma came on a Saturday and were polite, fast, and did a great job. They are fair with their pricing and the equipment they used was top of the line. I would highly recommend them. I used Modernistic to clean my home ductwork. Employees arrived on time. They were very polite. Did a good job. Decided to use modernistic to clean my carpet and upholstery. Arrived on time. Right off the bat they made excuses might not come clean. The carpet, couch, and chair looked good when they finished and they were wet. Once dry, I was disappointed. Everything that they cleaned, still looked dirty. I was very disappointed and will not be using them again or recommend them. read more

The river over flowed in our area and our finished basement ended up flooded. The Modernistic office staff was wonderful in getting things scheduled for us. The initial crew arrived timely and was great in getting carpets pulled back, drywall opened up & water removed. They set up the drying equipment and monitored the situation daily until we were once again at a point where we could put it all back together. The crews were professional and respectful of our property and the managers kept us apprised of the process every step of the way. My only reason for not provided 5 stars is they missed one little niche in the basement where there was a rug laying on the concrete floor--I ended up cleaning that up myself, so it wasn't a big issue. These are the guys I will definitely call if ever I need a water removal team again. read more

I had my burber carpet cleaned in my living room/great room/foyer in the summer a few years back for the first time with this company. As they were taking care of their equipment I asked them why they were in a rush, and that they needed to suck the water back out of my carpet. It was way to wet, and it will never dry by morning. I was told to blow fans on it. That was a Friday and by Monday it was still wet, and started to stink. I called and talked to the manager and he refused to come out and look at my carpet. He said his team did a good job and his equipment was in good working order. He blamed the weather because it was a rainy humid and damp weekend. By winter time I had to get the carpet out of my house, because the mold had made me very sick, which I still struggle with now and then. I would never recommend this company in Lansing Michigan. read more

I had my vents cleaned about 2 weeks ago. They were nice enough to get me in as soon as possible, however, I am wondering what exactly they did. I had to remove the tape from all my vents, re-screw in all my vent covers, clean up the mess they left in EVERY room on my hardwood floors (which took about 2 hours and my home is not that big!), and then when I did turn on my heat, I had trash come up through the vents. I called them back to complain, the manage offered me a 20 % refund, but the refund is actually about 18%! What did they do? I am very disappointed because Modernistic came highly recommended. I personally won't use them again, unfortunately. read more

I called Modernistic for flood remediation after several recommendations on our neighborhood page. We had already tore everything out, only disinfecting, cleaning, and complete drying were needed. When I called, I was informed there would be a $150 eval fee if I did not go through with their service. I probably should have hung up then, but the lady was so friendly and reassuring that I went ahead and made an apt for eval. Jeremy came out to do eval and I asked him about how much he thought it might cost. $2500 was his guess, which I knew was just a rough number. However, when we got the quote via email it was 50% more than his guess, with multiple errors and double charges for the same thing/wall. Jeremy told us up front there would be no $150 eval fee, which is a good thing! My husband is a civil engineer and he made the quote bleed red with mark-ups. He told me to email Jeremy back and let him know we wouldn't be using Modernistic's, or anyone else's services. I did email, declining services. Later that day, this is what really upset me, Jeremy called me and was very defensive and angry because we declined to use his company's services. He didn't even try to explain the double charges we saw, he was just angry with me! Who does that to someone that has already been flooded and is at their breaking point? I will never call this company again. read more

I wouldn't recommend this Co. I was told, my time frame was between 8am and 12pm. They called at 830am and said they would be at my house by 1pm. Well, I wasted my Saturday, waiting around for nothing. I never heard back from them. I had to call at 120pm---and then they couldn't even get ahold of the guy. NICE! a phone call from them would have been much appreciated. read more
