Really disappointed in how terrible this food truck is. We went here during Desert Farm Lights. We waited 52 minutes for two tacos and a quesadilla..... both of which were made wrong!! We did not modify anything either... we ordered the menu items, and neither were made correctly. Both items had the wrong meat in them and was not what we ordered. However, the rest of our party, who all had eaten already at other food trucks so they were ready to enjoy the park - and so were we - didn't want to wait around. So we just ate what we were given. Food was disgusting. Meat had bad flavor. Food was cold. Cheese in quesadilla was cold and not melted. Never coming back. read more

We used Modern Tortilla for an in-home event of 25 people. Ordering was easy and set up was even easier! The gentleman who set us up was quick and professional. We ordered the carne and the chicken tinga for our guests, both were delicious and everyone loved it. The beans and elote were also great and would order again. Where the food fell short was the rice and the guacamole. Every other bite of rice was crunchy which was a total bummer since we had two catering trays. Sadly, we threw away 1 1/2 trays. The guac did not taste like it contained any real avocado at all, it was more of a paste and no one ate that either. Would try again but probably not for catering. *EDIT with update* Modern Tortilla reached out after we told them about our experience. They offered to refund the items that did not meet their typical standard as well as ensure quality for our next order. This type of customer service is admirable and would keep us as a returning customer. Sometimes things happen and it's commendable when a business makes it right. read more

Ordered some churros and a steak burrito from them. I understand the meat is supposed to have some burnt ends and char from the grill but the MAJORITY of my meat was actually just burnt and old. This tasted like microwaved food and it was not even warm at all which further makes me believe they just served me an old order no one wanted. The churros were VERY bland. Not enough cinnamon/churro coating they were almost naked pastries. I tossed out the burrito 1/3 of the way through since it was actually hurting my stomach. Will never try this place again. Arizona's food truck culture is so garbage its like one out of five trucks you'll try that will make you happy. read more

We had Modern Tortilla out for our daughters graduation, taco cart for the backyard. They were on time, set up quick and just absolutely killed it. Chicken Tinga and Carne tacos were so good, churro bar was a hit. The staff was so kind, attentive and amazing, our chef even busted out a special spice blend to make my tacos extra spicy, just so good. Setting this up was easy, Jayson is an excellent communicator. It was such a let down working with Modern Tortilla for our wedding. They put zero effort into making our catering experience special. When guest went up to order food they forgot to hand out utensils and napkins. Our guest complained that the beans had not even been heated up, the tacos had zero flavor and the tortillas were so dry they were already falling apart. If you're looking for a catering company to ignore your health concerns and food allergies, look no further than MODERN TORTILLA FOOD TRUCK CATERING. We had a small private gathering for a family celebration less than a month ago, and our host decided to spend the additional money to hire Modern Tortilla for catering. With one caveat, ONLY ONE: no cilantro. I'm highly allergic. So are other family members. The host double, triple checked with the company. They were assured no one would see a LEAF of cilantro in the food. Remember this is a food ALLERGY. They arrived late (just an added bonus) and began setting out the appetizers and chips and salsa. And guacamole. And wouldn't you know it? Filled with cilantro. All of it. Our host asked the food truck about the allergy commitment and the chefs were not only unaware, but didn't seem to care one bit that there was a food allergy in the bunch. CHEFS. WHO PREPARE YOUR FOOD. KNOWING OF A FOOD ALLERGY. AND THEY DON'T CARE. After the event, when the owners were approached about their failure to comply with their commitments, their response was "oh... we don't really do that. You know, Mexican food without cilantro? That's just impossible." No "I'm sorry". Not "Oh goodness, did anyone get sick?" No concern at all. Just a big ole "IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR ASKING IN THE FIRST PLACE". And how did they make up for this epic fail? You think they gave her a partial refund or a discount on the overpriced platters of tainted food they gave out??? Nope. Their solution? A $50 gift card to eat more of their crap food. Let me be absolutely clear on this: food allergies are REAL. They suck, and they are annoying, and working around peanuts or gluten or cilantro or dairy or WHATEVER food a client cannot eat must be a pain in the ass. But if you commit to doing it, then you have to follow through. End of story. Shame on you, Modern Tortilla. Shame on you, and shame on your response. Don't eat here if you have a food allergy. We hired Modern Tortilla to cater our wedding even after seeing the reviews and speaking with Modern Tortilla and were assured they had been addressed...this turned out to be the biggest mistake we made. They showed up late- during our pictures. We were asked by the venue coordinator if anyone had heard from the food truck- no one had so they reached out and learned they were stuck in traffic. The food truck arrived and began serving our guests... in the end one table order food and never received food and several other guests at tables had the same thing happen. The guests that did receive their food said it was excellent. We were extremely disappointed in the service we received and this was the last thing we wanted to deal with on the day of our wedding. I have spoken with the owner about this issue and hope that they work to resolve this matter before it happens again. read more

I was not impressed. The food truck came to our place of business today and were not set up/ready on time. Gave 2 stars because the flavor of the food was really good, but it was cold. Rice was cold. Elote was hot on the ends, ice cold in the middle. They had no guac and just got there. The men running the truck seemed very unorganized. Took awhile to even take our order. Truck itself looked disheveled and unkept. Had to heat my plate in the microwave. Wish I hadn't left a tip. read more

The tortillas were not warmed up before serving and the meat was tasteless. They also stated that all orders came with chips and salsa and none of them did. The people running the truck seemed overwhelmed and it created a very long line for residents to order food.
