Moving to Georgia from California, my husband and I knew that we had to find a good Thai place in the area when we stumbled across Modern Thai. While the prices were higher than any Thai food we've ordered in California, the entire experience was well worth the price. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, not too many others in the restaurant. We ordered the Curry Puffs and Pad See-Ew to split and everything was perfect. The Curry Puffs were perfectly light and flaky with great flavor. For dessert, we shared the Mango Sticky Rice which completed our meal perfectly. Additionally, our server was extremely attentive to our needs and was quick to answer any questions we had. This is the best Thai food I ever had, I had the catfish eggplant but substituted the catfish for tofu. The owner personally brought the food out which is also the chef she was very pleasant and sweet. The waitress was very sweet and accommodated my diet, I am vegan. When pulling into the plaza we thought they were closed but don't be fooled it was 3pm and we were the only ones who drove off our path to Montgomery AL and we are glad we did! I started with the Thai tea and it was delicious, I have never had it ( a little sweet) and then we added Crab Rangoon (always an easy dish to compare) their pineapple sauce was a nice twist on the normal red Thai sauce. My husband ordered the Holy Basil Chili Bomb and it was a medium spice very tasty! I ordered the yellow curry chicken and it was just as good the chicken fell off the bone, the potatoes were soft and the jasmine blue rice finished the dish! I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was for a little hole in the wall. It had some good ratings but I wasn't sure. The crab Rangoon was absolutely probably one of the best I've had around here in Georgia. Best Thai restaurant in the area. It's a bit more expensive, but worth the price. Very high quality of ingredients and very balanced flavors. We had the chicken wings for an appetizer, which were divine. We had the Spaghetti Kee Mao and the Holy Basil Chili Bomb for our entrees. Both were exquisite. The spaghetti had large, tasty shrimp and scallops. This place should be packed on a Friday night. Can't get there on a golf cart but worth the drive. Dive in and be pleasantly satisfied with the flavorful delicacies of Modern Thai. We walked in after a flight on a weeknight and even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, the service was thorough and swift. Our food came out piping hot and beautifully arranged in plentiful portions. We tried and recommend the following: Red chicken (Panang) curry, fried crab rangoons, the Vegetables and mushroom sauce entree, the BBQ Rib entree ( just wow!), and the chicken peanut satay appetizer ( my kids eat as a meal). For dessert we had the chocolate mousse cake and the fried ice cream ( so good!). The bathrooms are very clean and the atmosphere was fresh and modern. We've had Thai food in this area of Tyrone, Newnan and Peachtree City that is tasty as well and a little cheaper, but this food reminded me of my years working in Bangkok, and was prepared with seemingly, extra special quality. All that to say, yes, I recommend eating at Modern Thai. read more

I give Modern Thai a five star for many reasons: 1) customer service was beyond expectations given the fact that GA has very bad customer service in their restaurant industry this place ranks at one of the highest for me. 2) Every dish was excellent and very tasty. 3) The owner and chef of the restaurant is so knowledgeable and puts passion into every dish she cooks. It's not the usual Thai food we are use to because as we know the usual "Thai" restaurants are very Americanized, but it was great nevertheless and we loved knowing we were having authentic Thai food. Last night was our first time at Modern Thai. The interior is just beautiful - simple, but beautiful! We ordered Basil Wings (delicious!), Tom Kha Gai (the best coconut soup I've ever had!), Pad Thai Goong (very tasty), and Spaghetti Kee Mao (a bit spicy, but it was SO good I couldn't stop!). Next time, I'll probably get a bowl of soup - it was that good! Overall a great experience with great food. (Two things that weren't as good as they could have been: 1. we were seated at a booth that was right across from the swinging kitchen door. Kitchen seemed immaculate, but the constant in & out was very distracting. Next time we'll know to sit at a table or seating away from the kitchen. 2. The waitress wasn't fully on top of her game. She was very nice and tried to be helpful, but seemed "new" to being a waitress. We always had to flag her down to ask for water refills, etc.) read more
