This was my first and last time ever visiting this place. I asked how much a veggie plate and she was stated $9 for small and $11 for large. I got mac- n -cheese, rice and kidney beans combined and cabbage. That was the worst veggie plate I have ever had. Everything taste OLD. The mac-n-cheese was extremely dry, the rice and kidney beans were very dry, and the cabbage lacked favor. It was overpriced, very disappointing and a waste of time & money. This was my first time at this location, and the food was pretty good. I had curried shrimp, rice and peas, and plantains. My son had stewed chicken, peas and rice and plantains. My son's gf had cabbage, curry chicken, and double plantains. My husband had jerk chicken with extra sauce, peas with rice and plantains. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese. The food was so delicious, but my only complaint is that I hate carrots and peas. (Ewww)! So I ate the shrimp, and tossed the carrots and peas in the trash. Also, the employees are really nice and veer helpful, if you need assistance with the menu. If we're in the area, we will be back...I forgot to order, the most important items here. I was so excited that I found a Jamaican Spot to eat! Food: I ordered the Jerk Chicken Meal with beans and rice, yams, cabbage, jerk pasta and macaroni/cheese for my family! Every side was FIRE!! Everytime i happen to pop in & grab some eatery, i always get a full sized platter with oxtails falling off the bone, I've had the jerk chicken, also brown stew chicken. I enjoy all of them. I've also had patties from there which are really good. I wish i could remember the lady or man who usually assists me, they're great to me every time! Very friendly & sweet. She loves me! I have frequented the Golden Krust chain on all sides of town and this by far is the absolute worst. They virtually had notHing I asked for, the wings were made to order, there were no chicken or shrimp patties, and the macaroni was dry. I was told that the only way to make the wings jerk was sautéing them in sauce, which none of the other locations I've visited have done, and then they only had medium sauce. The plantins were fried nicely, the rice and peas had no real taste, and sadly the wings were fried. You do not make Jerk wings by frying them, I could have gone to the wing spot and had them put jerk sauce on fried wings and got more for my money. I'm highly disappointed in this spot. Of the 5 other Golden Krust establishments I've visited the wings were consistent. The fact that I had to wait them adds insult to injury. This is NOT I repeat NOT jerk chicken Outside of the food, the restaurant is small and quaint. It's a nice vibe with Caribbean music playing in the background. It was my first time eating their after many good reviews. I must say they did not disappoint. I had the large braised oxtails with spinach rice. It was a delight, very flavorful and tender. They gave me enough that I had to full meals. My husband had the brown stew and he said it was really good just not as spicy as some he's had. We do agree we will be back. I called in 7:45pm, 15 minutes before closing yesterday and inquired if I can pay for some food over the phone, the girl who answered stated, no they don't do that. It's closing in 15 minutes, Then I explained to her I'll be there by 7:55pm, and wanted to know if any oxtail would be left , she said if you want to try to come you can. This young lady not only did she not care, but the business she is representing demonstrates a poor attitude, it was easier for her to tell me she can't do anything as opposed to just inquire if it would be possible. If I wasn't picking up food for someone I would of never had went. It was a complete turn off to tell someone they can come,try and see if there's anything available then to ask or put it aside. Once I got there it was a small order of oxtail left, barely any meat. I purchased it. I inquired about the leftover food with another coworker, he stated, if there is any left overs the staff is able to take it home. So for 10 minutes if I didn't make it, the food would not have gone to waste or stored for the next day, the staff would of been able to take it home. Her attitude was a turn off. I went specifically could try the beyond patties advertised on their windows. When I got there they didn't have any beyond patties. However the staff is really nice, so I decided to order two veggie patties, one spinach potty, and plantains. I think the patties were really well sized. I had enough food for two meals. Plantains were a bit drier than I would've liked however this is objective because everyone likes plantains differently. I thought the crust for the patties were a little tough and thick. I recently got some chicken soup from here but when I got home, I couldn't eat the soup. Any real Jamaican knows that we don't use cut chicken breast to make the soup. It tasted like a mix of goat head & chicken soup. I threw the soup out and i no longer go in to get anything. The quality and taste of the food has certainly gone down since opening. I also had oxtail dinner, which was served with rice and peas made with parboil rice, it was kind of dry and flavorless. I am disappointed. Don't get the festival- it's fried too long and cold, nothing like it is fresh in Jamaica. The rice and peas was OK. I remembered why I don't like goat curry-because of all of the little bones and pieces of fat that are disguised as meat.
