I will be working on this side of town where the Smallcakes is located for the next couple of weeks and just wanted to pop in today after work and grab a couple of goodies to take home. Young lady that was working inside was very nice. She greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. Hi took a second to order because I was also ordering for someone else and I needed to FaceTime and she was very patient with me. The price point for these cupcakes is a pretty good price. They are $4 apiece or you can order in multiples. A pack of two, a pack of four, a pack six, and even a dozen. They even have a loyalty card where you get a punch for each cupcake you get. There is no indoor seating right now because of course we all know Covid. It didn't take me long at all to order when I need it. I frequently visit small cakes. I was here a month or so ago. I asked for strawberry shortcake cupcakes or strawberry cheesecake cupcakes. I was informed that they didn't make those cupcakes at all during this season. I was highly disappointed as the the strawberry shortcake is only available on fridays. There were not many white cupcakes so I was forced to get chocolate. I can say that the hot chocolate cupcakes were delicious but they tasted like some of the flavors sitting next to them in the display case. We stopped in as my Bestie was craving something sweet. We selected our cupcakes to go, BUT...... The cashier totally left her brain at home in the bed. There was a total of four people, two couples. She asked if we all were together as we stood trying to decide on the cupcakes and we said "YES". Our daughter wanted gourmet cupcakes instead of a cake for her birthday this year, and Smallcakes just opened here about a week ago. This seemed like serendipity to us. We got a variety for our first taste of their cupcakes...pink chocolate, lemon, chocolate cream and (of course) birthday cake. The cake for all four was moist and rich. My personal ranking of the four were as follows: 1 - Lemon - The icing was very lemony, but not overly sweet. The cake was lemon with a lemon jelly filling. Even though there were three different lemon flavors, they worked well together to be rich and delicious. 2 - Chocolate Cream - This was a devils food cake with a vanilla cream and fudge icing. Most folks would list this a their favorite since the chocolate is decadent. It reminded me of a gourmet Hostess Ding Dong. 3 - Birthday Cake - This was traditional white cake, no filling, with vanilla icing and sprinkles. It's reminiscent of actual birthday cake, and perfect to bring out the kid in everyone. 4 - Pink Chocolate - This was devils food cake with fudge filling and pink cream cheese icing. I've been going to Smallcakes since it came to GA. When I moved to Newnan I was so excited to see a Smallcakes pop up, however, since opening this location has majorly gone downhill. When you walk in it smells HORRIFIC, like poop, literally. I asked one day and they told me it was the septic - might I suggest getting that fixed by the landlord? It's not appetizing eating cupcakes when it smells like someone pooped in the front entrance. On top of that they hardly ever have any cupcakes. Doesn't matter if it's mid day or evening - choices are slim Pickens as if they are too lazy to make more of the specials or hell, the staples. This evening I went in and there were literally 5 cupcakes, that's it. I'm sorry, this is terrible business. If you want a REAL taste of the franchise I suggest taking the drive to the PTC location. Always on point and even offer ice cream. It's just like my favorite location in Woodstock. Only reason I give 2 stars is that the cupcakes are good, but you have to take them to go and you're limited on choices. read more

I was told that the cupcakes are baked fresh daily and what isn't sold that day is donated to charity. The only thing I'd change is that I would love if they would put their filling deeper into the cake instead of right below the top surface. That way you get frosting, cake, filling, and cake. Not just frosting, filling, and cake that is way too sweet that way, at least for me anyway. Yes, they are way too expensive but in this case they are worth the expense and calories. This place wishes it was Sprinkles. Every time I've been in there they've had only chocolate, white, or vanilla cupcakes and most of the frosting is either vanilla or plain chocolate because anything else is 'specialty' and only available on select days. Newsflash: if you are going to charge $4 for a cupcake and call yourself a cupcake shop, everything you make is specialty and variety should be a given. What about carrot cake? Strawberry? Cream cheese? Dark chocolate?? Dumping oreo crumbs on top of a plain chocolate cupcake and putting white frosting on it does not a "cookies n cream cupcake" make. To be completely honest, the cake part of the cupcakes I've had were only okay and a bit too sugary, and the frosting was just blah--so it doesn't make up for the bland taste of the cake and since it's definitely not a true buttercream, I'd say it's not worth the price tag. Either bake your own, pick something up at Publix if you're wanting storemade. If you really want quality & variety, go to Sprinkles at Lenox--they have at least 8 flavors of cake at any given time and dozens of frosting flavors so there are tons of yummy combinations to pick from. I recently tried small cakes when I was visiting the newnan area. I must say that the cupcakes were delicious. The first one I tried was the s'mores which was just as good as I thought it would be. The other three cupcakes had delicious flavor but the s'mores I highly recommend. I will say these cupcakes are very dense. I ate one and felt very satisfied and left the rest for the following days. Stopped here this weekend after dinner because I absolutely love cupcake shops! And I've got to give the girl behind the counter MAD props on the nice factor - she was VERY helpful and had a genuine good vibe to her! That is very hard to find these days! The selection wasn't the greatest, but she helped me pick out a cupcake and even recommended one of her favorites, which I liked. I ended up getting two strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and a chocolate one which apparently had a filling, but I did not get to try it because my parents ate it. The frosting on the strawberry cheesecake was good, though! I was kinda scared because some small cupcake shoppes makes the frosting from pure sugar, which produces a sweet, grainy mess which tastes artificial and even hurts your teeth! This one did not, the icing was smooth and had a cream cheese hint which was not as amazing as Camicakes icing, but it beat the pants off other places I've tried in the past. Went in today and got the lemon and chocolate cream cupcakes. Fantastic!!! The lemon tasted just like lemon meringue pie. The chocolate cream was perfect. Neither was too sweet which is a mistake that Gigis Cupcakes makes. The cake was moist and the toppings just so.
