I ended up at Rock Salt Milk Bar by complete accident. I was visiting Newnan, parked right in front of it, saw they were open... and figured why not. It's a small spot with a few tables inside and even fewer outside. There's a long bar displaying all their ice cream flavors, and they offer free samples, which I definitely took advantage of. I ended up getting a small scoop of the Fig, Honey, and Ricotta--and trust me, it's good. Unique, not overly sweet, and just really well done. If you're in the area and looking for something sweet, I'd definitely recommend stopping in. read more

Enjoyed a short stop here on my way back up to Atlanta! They've got some unique flavors like blackberry earl grey and some normal flavors like dark chocolate - I sampled a couple and while some of the flavors sounded interesting, the more complex flavors fell a little short in carrying a strong flavor. I ultimately went with caramel apple without trying it, but it was great! Solid flavor and I loved the chunks of apple that I got. I was extremely tempted to get at least a medium because the prices here are amazing compared to in the city (a small was $3.91 in total), but I didn't have the stomach to eat more than a small. Next time I'll come prepared to enjoy more haha. Plenty of street parking! read more

Every ice cream we've tried here has been amazing. I usually get the mint chocolate chip, which I love since there is no green dye in it. I tried a gingersnap ice cream last timer I was there and it was so good! Love their location in downtown Newnan, so cozy and cute. I wish the one in Senoia hadn't closed as we live closer to that location. Sometimes we go to the PTC location but mostly Newnan. What I can say is this is a cute shop with plenty of space for a group or a little bit of seating if you're a party of one or two. This place was yummy! We hit them up Saturday after dinner. It's located in an old building in downtown Newnan. There are a few tables outside and plenty of inside seating. My husband and I come here every so often, and each time I like to try a new flavor. The coffee lovers was good, but it had unexpected chocolate bits in it which threw me off. Went here with a group of my family and really enjoyed the ice cream. The waffle cones and bowls were made right in front of us and you could smell every delicious whiff that came from that machine. We got to sample a few flavors and unfortunately the one I really wanted (creme brulee) was out. I ended up with Earl Grey Blueberry and Fresh Strawberry. The Earl Grey one was ok...flavor was very pronounced and by the time my tongue was cold, it just tasted like I was eating cold cream. The Fresh Strawberry, however, was really delicious with chunks of fresh strawberries throughout. Service was friendly and they were working as hard as they could with the crowd we came in with. Decided to zip into downtown Newnan and sample Rock Salt Milk Bar's ice cream. Downtown Newnan looked pretty charming, with a square, independent restaurants and shops, and historical homes nearby. Free street parking was easily obtained in a space across from the shop. Going with the 3 flavor flight ($6) in a cup, I ended up with generous scoops of berry rose, snickerdoodle, and cookies 'n' cream. I went in blind with the berry rose and cookies 'n' cream since I didn't sample them beforehand but was rewarded and relieved to find that they were delicious. Cookies 'n' cream tasted just like Oreos! In ice cream form of course. And snickerdoodle was much like its cookie version and even contained bits of its namesake. The berry rose was a unique and delightful flavor, needed some fruit/floral to balance those baked goods. Rock Salt was hoppin' when we arrived on a weekend evening, a mere 20 minutes before closing. There was a moderate line to my surprise. We secured seats at the end of a communal table and enjoyed the ice cream. Good: they had plenty of friendly staff working. Even though they'd sold out of two flavors, there were still many options. The restroom was clean. Sorta not-so-good: they'd been depleted of waffle cones and there was a 15 minute wait for more. The cookies 'n' cream was noticeably softer, verging on melted, compared to the other two flavors, odd. And the blackberry Earl Grey wasn't Earl Grey enough for me. But it sounded good otherwise! I dig the story behind Rock Salt; the owner decided to open it with her son after she retired from being an air traffic controller. They get their ice cream mix from Working Cows Dairy in Alabama and try to source locally when possible. I'm not too familiar with Newnan, but Rock Salt Milk Bar seems to be a super addition to the area! read more

On the way down to check on a friend's schooner I made a side trip to take a gander at this ice cream spot, found just off the town square of Olde Newnantown. Classic layout, with a line snaking past a crew of friendly young wenches wielding cups and scoops. I selected a scoop of pumpkin, which actually tasted like a pumpkin pie instead of the allspice/cinnamon flavor favored by those shapely and sheepskin-shod fillies haunting my local coffee house. The next scoop was a blend of cranberry and orange, set against a backdrop of cardamom. While any one of these ingredients could have held a flavor coupe, they decided instead to work together in non-partisan fashion, yielding a subtle blend that would be appreciated by discerning palates everywhere (except in locales where they prefer orange to dominate). Kudos to the Creamaster! Of course, we all know that the BEST flavor is chocolate, so I set the team of wenches a challenge to blend me a mix of their finest brown ice cream into a creamy drink. It was of course delicious, being that chocolate is the best flavor. Duh. If you are concerned about how this shop has prepared for the great plague, rest assured that the crew were all wearing masks... in stark contrast to the majority of their patrons, who were not. As a matter of fact, once I had removed myself to the relative safety of the town square to set about scarfing down my frosty haul, I noted that NONE of the citizens of Newnanburg perambulating up and down in front of the courthouse had bothered to make even the most primitive attempt to pay lip service to any sort of face covering. "Bully good for you!" I shouted, from inside my autocarriage (with its windows tightly sealed). We must recognize and encourage rugged individuals like these who press back against the tyranny of Science to fight for their freedom to contract any and all forms of infestation, because it means their homes might be put upon the market sooner so that pirates like us might move closer to this delicious ice cream emporium! I'm a lova of soft serve ice cream, so when I arrived I already had it planned brownie with soft serve vanilla and I'm set, HOWEVER this place doesnt have soft serve or Brownies... ( I know), so what is a lady to do turn around and go elsewhere....Nope, decided to just stay due to the other reviews and try this place out. They have several different flavors I sampled a few my favorites were the pecan salted caramel vanilla brittle ice cream and the Ooey, gooey butter cake. I put it on top of a freshly baked cookie which they also serve. Although the cookie was delicious, it was too many flavors mixed together so the ice cream on top didn't complement the cookie, so the next time I go back I'll get it separately but try out the flavors. The only thing I didn't like the sample spoons they give you to try the ice cream are reusable, I rather it be plastic and they toss it out, but I'm sure they can fix that. Over all this place has gone downhill. Ice cream is over priced and customer service is horrible. Today I went with the wife tonight got 3 ice creams 18$ one small and two mediums. We started with one server got another before we ordered and ended with another because the wife was looking so they took other people because she was not fast in her choice then I got over looked and people behind me got served and when I went to pay the kid that did the transaction miss keyed the cash I gave him and to hand count the change and then gave me the change and as I put into my pocket he asked if he gave the correct change because he did not put it into the cashier incorrectly. Rather then zeroing out the transaction he did it in his head. After getting our ice cream we went outside to eat them. The tables outside were dirty and trash under and around the tables. I went back inside to get some ice water that is provided but there where no cups I stood to the side until the kids where done talking to the customers that looked to be friends we're done the 4 associates completely ignored me and stood in a huddle and talked and tasted the ice cream as I was standing there I had to get their attention and asked if I could have a cup for the water. Driving through Newnan, I felt like stopping for ice cream, as I'd had a hankering for a malt for three weeks, and Lo and behold, Rock Salt Milk Bar was first on the list of suggested creamy locations. Pulling up to the location, we had to circle the wagons and park the land barge of a truck on a side street, so as not to rouse the locals into carrying pitchforks and torches, due to blocking their path. We sidled up to the counter, placed the orders, and let the journey of creamery commence. What an experience; listening to the whirring sound of the mixing machine, working away at blending that milky deliciousness, and watching as the cascading whipped cream frosted the top. Oh, what joy to be had from the taste of the cold sensation of sugary goodness! My friend ordered a scoop of blueberry cheesecake in a waffle cone, and he ended up with three scoops of moo-liciousness that enraptured him with its charms. When I went to the rock salt milk bar the cellophane wrapped pastries in the front did not do much to boost my confidence in this place. Why would you have baked good wrapped up like they just came from a pot luck in your display case ? The where the items are displayed is not pleasing to the eye it does not make you want to try them. I understand it's covid, but you you use some decorative pastry boxes. It was busy in there, and there seems to be no system in place for people that know what they want , and the people that want to sample every flavor. So if you order your scoops , you then have to squeeze behind the people that are sampling all the ice cream flavors in order to pay for yours in the que. So you keep having to say excuse me are you in line to pay ? To patrons that are just sampling the flavors. I really enjoy the fresh sugar cone for an adult. If you have a person that eats ice cream slow don't get the cone. The cone is thin It will collapse under the weight of the ice cream, if you don't move fast enough. The kids in our party that got the cone it busted in their hands and the ice cream tumbled down the hill . So get it in a cup . If you have kids you have to ask for extra napkins , they are not available on the table. The flavors are great to try and the prices are good. I really hope this business makes it through the winter without indoor seating . I don't see myself sitting outside eating ice cream in December. read more

Wow... speechless. The ice cream flavors are very unique and there are a lot to choose from! They are made with fresh ingredients in house, nothing artificial. The waffle cones were made right when we ordered, and they were still warm. The only downside was they were uneven and melted the ice cream slightly, but I have to tell you, a warm waffle cone paired with the lemon lavender is the best! They taste like fresh baked shortbread cookies. All the ice cream was super creamy and light. My favorite two were brittle salt and lemon lavender!! I just can't get enough!! read more
