So disappointed . I have been coming here for years and had been very happy with the service. But the last two times were beyond horrible . At first I thought it was just a new person...and since we've all been new at a job at some point ... I was understanding. However when I went on Saturday July 2, I left -- 2 1/2 hours later with a horrible pedicure, a person I question was even licensed, and horribly frustrated. I had to remind her to remove the clear polish on my nails, she never soaked my hands...I reminded her to do that...the polish on my toes was all streaked and messy, she didn't wipe the masque off my legs--I discovered that when I went to lunch--she left all the oil on the bottom of my feet and I nearly slipped and fell. And all that aggravation for $93 plus tip. As I reflect on this costly horrible experience I wonder if perhaps there is a new owner. I realized the gentleman who used to be there is gone, there are all new manicurists--no one I recognize. And now they ask that I pay via Zelle or Venmo, to a person, not even a business. Needless to say, I won't be going back and I intend to warn all the friends that I have referred to them over the years to stay far, far away. I hope the owner pays attention to this. read more

Arrived a few minutes early and was directed to a chair. was. then ignored for 20 minute. no one offered an explanation or estimate of when they would get to me. I hoped I would get a great set if NexGen nails; but I was not happy with the service OR the nails. My morning appt time wasn't on time...Over 30 minutes late and my nails were not to my satisfaction. When i asked Misty to make them thinner at the base she would not file them saying they would break. That's just not true. I asked several times and then said "well we'll do them YOUR way." They we're not smooth ... had to have them redone when I got back to my home salon. When my nail guy saw my nails, he concurred ...A total waste of money. I should get a refund. I'm sure there are good nail techs here but I didn't get the best but when I made my appointment I asked for "The best" tech they had... And was referred to Misty. Yes, they were busy that morning and had several Walk-Ins. But that's no excuse for the poor nail job. read more

Modern Nails has always been my favorite nail salon but admittedly I've cheated on them from time to time. Today was not your typical nail emergency, I brushed up against a cactus and ended with 30 needles in my finger. After poorly executed online advice, my finger had been mutilated with glue, tape, and wax and I still had 30 cactus needles in it. In a panic I ran down to Modern Nails, bc who else would have the patience to pluck each one- by one and have the tools to do it. Jenny sat for an hour plucking each needle out, dressing my finger, and insisting I come back if my finger still hurt the next day. Not only are they talented people but they are genuine and carrying people. They go above and beyond their profession and treat their customers like friends. Thanks again modern nails and Jenny. Up until today I was a loyal customer since 2014. I have no intention of ever returning. I have found them to be inconsistent as far as quality. To combat this I began making appts with the technicians I knew were consistently good. However what I have experienced is that they do not honor appointments and make you wait beyond a reasonable amount of time. They will interrupt during your service to service other customers. And they will tell you "oh it will be just five minutes; and five minutes turns into 30 minutes. I've had technician switched in the middle of appointments. read more

Basic mani + pedi. Mani- chips started day 1. Day 2 I had a nail break and more chips. Day 3, two broken nails and polish needs to be removed due to so many chips. I have long and strong natural nails and went two months with no polish and no breaks. The products and filing weakened my nails causing breaks. Have been coming here for years. The staff is lovely and they do an excellent job, especially on cleaning and prepping around your nails. They always get you in no matter how busy they are and they are open until 6:30 so it's possible to make it happen on a weekday. They have a huge selection of gel and have a large selection of matching polishes if you want gel on your hands and regular on your toes. On the very rare occasion that there is something funky with a polish, Misty will absolutely fix it for you. I've walked out and immediately ruined a toe and turned around and she's fixed it. I really like this nail salon, I like the people here, they are always courteous and do a decent job. The problem is, and it won't prevent me from going to the salon, that they are very time prejudiced against the young. My daughter who is thirteen goes to the salon more than I do, yet every time she goes she has to wait. She and her friend of a similar age just waited for so long to be seen, apparently adult customers were put ahead of them repeatedly These customers may have had appointments, that's possible, but many customers are walk-ins, I know because I have been to the salon so often. My daughter had a regular manicure and her friend got acrylics, from the moment they walked in the door till when they Ieft took 2:55 minutes. The last couple of times my daughter went, the manicurist would half do her nails, then leave her for thirty mins and go attend to an adult, they would never do that to me or to another adult. I'm putting this out there in the hope that the salon will amend this, it really isn't ethical in the least. The younger clients pay the same dollar amount as the adult clients, so why are they getting less value for their dollar. read more

I came here to get a fill on my acrylics, I didn't care to catch the name of my nail artist due to my experience. After kindly asking for a full set with regular polish, I was instantly scoffed at for not choosing gel polish, and I was continuously trying to be sold, it was very awkward. To top it off, some teenagers walked in and got gel polish, my nail artist then went on to compare me to the girls and once again asked, "why don't you get gels, all these girls do". When she did my nails, it was careless, I was cut multiple times, and my shape is completely different from one another. Finally after nicking it when she grabbed each hand so violently, she takes the chance to state "I told you so", and she didn't redo the nail, she dotted nail polish that covered nothing except leave a darker circle. I first stumbled upon this place about 5 months ago when I was walking around Laguna Beach. Although it was winter time- it So.Cal? We have the BEST weather here! I peeked my head in the store and asked if they had time for a walk in appointment -- they did and treated myself to a pedicure. I had looked down at my hands and realized that I really should get my nails done too (I typically wait around 3 weeks for a fill). I inquired about if they had any openings for a fill- and they did! Ty does such a great job with my nails and I've shown him many nail designs I wanted on my nails through Pinterest. Okay.... I thought about it a lot and I just had to leave this review mostly for the staff. That was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had getting a manicure. The lady who did it was also running the front desk so she was talking on the phone, yelling across the room, and was just really unfriendly and kind of rude. Not my idea of relaxing. She rushed the entire manicure and cut my finger with her clippers, a few nails are crooked, and the polish job was just not great. I am so extremely sad and disappointed in how my visit went since it was recommended by someone. I'm giving 3 stars because I don't want to ruin their rating but also because the lady who did my pedicure was sweet and did a good job. My toes got smudged as soon as I walked out though....
