I went here to get my nails done before a wedding. I had never been here. Many of the staff were drinking margaritas from the mexician restaurant next door and being really obnoxiously loud while doing other women's nails on a Friday. The other customers seemed not to mind it, but, I was shocked that staff would be drinking like that. The girl who did my nails did a good job. One of the other girls working there was rude to me when I was paying...she seemed to have a buzz so, I didn't pay her comment any attention. Very weird and disappointing experience. read more

I got a gel manicure and pedicure yesterday and within 12 hours of regular hand activity after - no washing dishes, long hot showers, etc. TWO of my nails' color have COMPLETELY come off. I'm pissed because I asked BARRY if my nails needed more time in the little UV light thing and he said, 'no no it's fine,' and sped through both of my services at lightning speed. Not sure if I'm more mad at myself or the situation because I wasn't happy while it was happening but I did my very best to be patient and roll with it. NEVER AGAIN. They are overpriced for what you get and where they are in the country. I have also been told they cater to their regulars with better technicians and give the newbies to customers they aren't familiar with. I now have to get my nails fixed before my event tomorrow, I'm traveling and extremely frustrated at the inconvenience after what I paid. read more

Unfortunately this will be my last visit to this salon. There is one tech there that clearly needs retraining as he does not know how to file nails in the correct shape and goes below the nail bed to file. I asked for one of my nails to be redone and add a tip so it looked correct and he didn't want to fix it. I just asked him to finish so I could leave. No clue how good they are at doing nails but I waited 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to get a regular manicure, and still no one would take me, so I left. On the plus side, they are located right next to a mexican place, so if the wait is too long, you can leave and get a jumbo marg instead ! :P People seemed nice though I guess, and I'm sure their nails are fine. read more

I went in for a polish change. What I got was a mess. The tech was too busy chatting with the other techs to do my nails properly. He left old blue polish on my toes and on my nails. I asked him to clean it up and he didn't do a good job of that either. The new polish is a mess. Parts of my nails aren't polished but I do have the new polish on my skin. I paid but didn't tip. I probably should have said something to the owner but at that point I just wanted to get out. I will not go back and I will not suggest them to anyone. read more

Not the worst mani pedi I've ever had but not good. I had to ask the lady to file/even out my toe nails. She just clipped them unevenly at first. It had been three months since my last pedicure and I desperately needed the skin removed off my feet and she hardly scrubbed them. Gel was uneven and bubbly. I've been to many nail salons in my life, but my experience in Modern Nails today has been by far, my favorite! What a nice, wonderful staff. Tina was my nail technician, she came highly recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. Ps she has the best laugh. Contagious! Couldn't stop smiling. The atmosphere was really great. Beautiful, clean salon! I scheduled an appointment ahead of time thank goodness because they had a steady stream! I highly recommend! NAIL FUNGUS. I get my nails done regularly where I live, I came to the area for vacation and got my nails done here. Not only did the guy file my nails down so much they started to bleed, he massaged my hand that was coated in leftover powder so it was like sand paper, and he painted my sisters nails and they were riddled with air bubbles and immediately peeled off when we got home it was so thick. THEN, after 2ish weeks, I noticed a dark spot under my nail, I tore off my dip and it's mold/nail fungus!!!!! Nail fungus can take months to get rid of, not to mention having to go on an antibiotic. I am incredibly upset. I do NOT recommend this place whatsoever. read more

I have been going here for 2 years now...but no more. I was asked if I exercised which I thought was odd. My nail tech pointed at my calves and said something in Vietnamese which started a rather loud round of laughter and giggles. I thought it was a little disrespectful and rude. Amy saw on my face that I was not happy. I will not go back and pay money just to be the butt of a joke. There are other nail shops out there. I found a lot of the nail salons here at the lake too expensive, and not that good. Modern is the right price, a really lovely pedicure and Dave, my technician, was terrific. I didn't like my manicure by another person, the sns powder, she wrecked my cuticles. Maybe I'll try another technician for that. read more

The first time I went to moder nails I got a terrible technician. I decided to try them one more time with a different technician. I have found my nail lady for life! Vivian does great work, she's very friendly and I leave the salon so happy every single time. I am very picky about everything and she makes sure everything is perfect. Mediocre nail salon with pushy technicians. My nails turned out ok and was happy with the initial result, but it only lasted a week before it started to come off and I usually get at least two weeks when I get gel. One lady was also especially pushy, not even giving us a second to pick out our colors before she insisted on picking them out for us. I'm talking less than a minute of us looking through them. And basically shoved a color at my mom impatiently. I would understand the "help" if they were really busy, but besides one other person, we were the only people in there. I'm good, thanks. And no, I don't want sparkles. The manicures themselves were also very rushed. Not really the experience we were looking for on our Saturday outing. Though this place is fine if you need to get your nails done quickly, would not recommend otherwise. read more

My usual salon was closed so I decided to try somewhere new and I'll never go back. I was a walk-in customer and asked for an acrylic fill-in, pedicure, and eyebrow wax. I made sure to ask if they had time to do all that before they took me back and they said it was no problem. First of all, I was talked into SNS because they said it would be cheaper than my usual acrylic gel? They didn't have their prices displayed so I just believed them and went with it. They lady seemed super rushed doing my nails and not very gentle (she cut my cuticle and it bled). Then I went in for my eyebrow wax and she was, again, rushing and rough with me. Although, my eyebrows turned out great I definitely don't appreciate the pain. I then sat for my pedicure and the water was scalding. I asked her to cool it down and she did but it was still a million degrees, my feet were blood red. Besides that the pedicure was nice and my toes turned out okay. Finally, we went back to finish my nails and that went as normal as it could but my overall results were garbage (I did not notice how bad they looked until I left the salon). I was charged $63 for all of these services which is more than I have ever paid in my life at any salon and got the worst results I think I have ever gotten. Every nail is uneven and so poorly shaped. It's like they're all slanted. They're bulky and not clean around my cuticles and I am very unhappy with them. Salon was beautiful and clean. Staff were very friendly and nice. But I'm paying for good results not friendliness. read more

Nice spa. It is clean and has a classy atmosphere. I like the pedicures and manicures and the atmosphere is nice, not too noisy. The man in there is a bit rough on the pedicures. My cuticles bled and hurt afterwards. I have liked all of the manicurists that I have used in there. I remember Tina and Vivian did good jobs. I do know people have waited for an hour to get served and sometimes if you have an appointment, they don't acknowledge it. They stay busy. They are overpriced on some of the services. I think 35 dollars is too much for an SNS fill in. The lake is too expensive. read more
