Made pedi appt for myself, my daughter and a friend. Arrived on time my friend was already soaking, they told me to come on, when my daughter attempted to sit with her 2 yr old in her lap, the man was extremely rude...NO, NO, then he moved her stroller with 2 month old baby and just shoved it towards door. My daughter said never mind and sat and waited. The rude man did my pedi, no soak and he started trimming, etc.. I said I need to soak for at least 10 min before he started...he said "NO THIS HOW WE FI IT!" He cut one nail into the quick and cut and made me bleed as he cut dry cuticles!! The total pedi was 20 min and I sat under dryer for 30 waiting for my friend who's pedi was almost an hour! To ad insult to injury I paid $30 for pedi and nail polish was coming off by the time I got home! No other patrons were in salon while we were there. I've tried to " like" this place mainly because it is convenient. I walked out tonight so disappointed. They don't speak much to you , they are greedy and downright rude. I went two weeks ago and used a gift certificate. $200) It had apparently expired by two days. ( 6 months ) They did take it but got very upset when I gave them a $15 dollar tip ( $55 dollar bill ) on the gift certificate. They wanted CASH ONLY.. umm sorry money is money. extremley rude and 3 of them yelled at me when I pointed out my toe and finger nail colors were different colors. rather than trying to help rectify a simple mistake they proceeded to berate me for not communicating and then abruptly ended my manicure. I was upset and extremely embarrassed at been yelled at in the shop and they kept going on at me even after I asked them to stop yelling at me. If i could give negative stars I would. I visited this place based off of reviews and they were very wrong. I am not from SML and was there visiting my friend and her family. We got there and was attended to quickly. I told the worker right away that I have gel polish on my toes. She said no problem. I wasn't paying much attention to what she was doing at first until I noticed she was being kinda rough on my toes. I then noticed she was using what looked like a freaking knife to slice away the polish off my toes. Unfortunately I noticed too late and she literally cut half my toenail off and I was bleeding. The owner came over and said something to her in their language and handed her a drill to finish. I was already injured and bleeding and I said to her that my foot was bleeding she said I know and shoved my foot back in the water. She then took my foot out and before I knew it she was dabbing GLUE on my toenail to put it back and I said did you just glue my nail back together, she didn't respond. She then got some green stuff I'm assuming it was antibacterial or something and put it on there. It burned like hell. I said OMG that hurts and burns and she said I know and again put my foot in the water. I have never in my life had someone slice off polish. She then tried to tell me that it was my fault because my toenail was cracked and she didn't know because of the polish I had and when she "pulled" it ripped. No ma'am you sliced me. I have a video of her doing this after she had already injured me she tried to continue slicing. If you don't want to lose a toe I do not recommend going here and if you do go insist that they soak off your gel polish and not slice it off. read more

Guy who started to do my nails had no idea what he was doing. He didn't listen to what I wanted and insisted on doing what he wanted with my nails despite my protest. He eventually became upset and told me that he wasn't going to work with me (same guy from the description of the other 1 star review here). His boss came by to see what was going on. The guy tried to tell me to leave with acrylics glued on my fingers and refused to take them off, I said he needed to take him off. His boss told him to take the acrylics off me. He took it off and went to the back. I told the owner that that guy's attitude was going to lose her a lot of business. She was complacent and didn't try to make things right. This was the worst quality manicure and worst customer service I have ever experienced. I went in for a relaxing gel mani and pedicure while visiting SML with a friend. I noticed that the polish looked clumpy on my nails after the first coat and asked if it was ok. The technician continued anyways. After they did not get any better after the second coat, I asked again and she told me it was the color I chose (1. I have had several white polish manicures and 2. If the color is bad, why would you continue to give me a terrible manicure). A second technician came to try to fix it and managed to her one hand looking decent, but by now I had several coats and feared it would peel/chip easily (which it did less than 24 hours later). Two of my nails on the other hand still looked terrible and clumpy after he "fixed" them. By this point I had been at the salon for 2 hours and just wanted to leave and continue my vacation. Even tho it was a visible mess, they reused to offer me even a discount on the service and said I would have to sit there and take it off or pay full price. I didn't want to waste another hour sitting there getting the polish off that they messed up and cut into my vacation time, so I was forced to pay full price for a terrible manicure. This is a great place for a pedicure! I've been here twice while visiting family that lives in the area. $23 got me a relaxing massage chair, a thorough pedicure, and a great nail polish application (still looking 100% perfect 4 days later). The place is very clean (a must) and staff are very friendly. I will definitely be back on my next visit. read more

I have been using Mimi since I have moved to Smith Mountain Lake and am most pleased with the results. She even warned me about keeping the acrillic and gel polish on as I was going in for surgery in the next few days. Very sad to see a nice place go downhill. Definitely don't go while The Bold and Beautiful is playing! The last 2 times I was not pleased so this time I called about my nails. They were half painted and the polish gummed up and peeled off I got them done on a Monday called on Tuesday then when I went in to show them she yelled I don't want to talk because I had the polish on to long. 1 day really? I go to get a mani- pedi to relax. No massage didn't cut my cuticles to interested on what was on TV. Very very disappointed that they didn't even try to rectify the problem and upset in the manner they talked down to me. I wasn't asking for money back just wanted some pretty nails for a tired mommy! All of the nail techs pay attention to details and do not huff and puff if I show them a design on Pinterest. They also don't charge an arm and leg for regular gel nails or the designs I throw at them to recreate! I highly recommend Mimi's!!! read more
