This salon is located within Cherryvale Mall. It is very convienent, and I have gone twice, but will never go back again. The staff is doesn't seem to care about your experience, they are more interested in talking to each other in another language than to the customers. It is also VERY dirty. Nail shavings and dust EVERYWHERE. While having my nails done, the nail tech clipped me no less than 4 times with the electric nail file, then after finishing my acrylics, did not use the file to remove the excess acrylic from under my nails. I spent the next week attempting to get it out myself. Overall, there are much better places to go in town for right around the same price. read more

One of the worst sets I've ever gotten. The service was very rushed and I hate to talk down about someone's work but my nail tech personally was a a little aggressive w/ the way she was grabbing and tossing back my hands and her technique compared to other nails techs was not good. The glitter I chose was not used, the shape is lopsided and they are not all the same length, the tips are far too big and uneven and also not the V-Tip I wanted. To do the tips she covered almost my entire nail bed with white polish and tried to sloppily clean it up with a brush and acetone, leaving a white cast over the rest of the nails. When I mentioned this she said it was because the acetone is not clear and the clear nail polish will fix it. I again asked that she clean it up more and she sloppily and hurriedly went over it again with the acetone but didn't clean up not one thing. Two of nails also smeared under the light because she put so much polish on and it was so thick and I had to mention it 3 times for her to fix it. She asked me "why?" and blamed me for not putting my hands under the LED light correctly. I get my nails done often and never have this issue. The sides of nails have no polish on them at all. I could go on and on about how horrible my nails were after getting them done here. I will be going to another nail salon to get them reshaped and to remove this awful polish job because looking at them makes me upset all over again. This is how I left Modern Nails. I went in with acrylics and asked for a soak off and buff. I was asked three times if I wanted any other services and I repeated that I just wanted a soak off and buff. I was treated poorly from staff after that. The man I sat with grounded my acrylics so they were very then and then used a fake nail and shoved it between my acrylic and natural nail to pop the acrylics off. He then used a file on my nail bed, leaving scratches and cutting my skin around my nails. No soaking, no oil, no buffing. Would not recommend this place to anyone if you want your nails to be healthy or look good when you leave. 0/5 stars if I could. read more

I have been to this place a handful of times In a couple of years. The first couple of times they did ok, that's why I came back a few more times. The last few times however I have left unhappy with my services. In today's issue, I asked for a black French tip, no chip mani and a regular pedi. 5 minutes after walking in my tech had asked me 3 times what color I was gonna choose. Umm, excuse me, do you not see me looking? I seriously had to ask him for a 'second'. The pedi water was burning hot. He rushed through the pedi. My mani came around. The water to soak my hands in was cold. I asked for a solid nude base with the black tips. I did not want a see through shade. What did I get? A See through nude. I had to ask him to do a second coat on the black tips because the first coat was so thin it looked purple. He didn't even clean underneath the gunk in my nails. Then he cleaned 4 of them and was done. I had to sit there and take it out myself. Everyone is yelling to each other and they never listen to what you're saying. I came in on 1/22/2020 to get a dip nail treatment. I had dip nails previously from a much nicer salon (They were all still fully intact over a MONTH after). I am not from this area, but needed to get my nails done as soon as possible. You get what you pay for here. Within DAYS, 4 of my new dip nails had completely popped off of my real nail. I had to tell my tech 3 times that I want my nails files round and not edgy straight. She did not speak to me at all, the place was disgusting with overly loud Vietnamese drama on while everyone is talking to each other. My sis in law and I got pedis and I also got a no chip mani. She was burnt by the hot towel and her foot was cut open. No apologies no acknowledgement at all. Both of the pedis were rushed and so was the mani. She left polish and clear coat on my cuticles. Isn't that the point to not get it on them. And no they didn't clean them up. Not satisfied. At. All. This place is so unsanitary and disgusting. They don't use sterilized tools out of a brand new packet like everyone else. They rushed on my manicure and pedicure just to hurry up and get me out of the door when they weren't even busy. No one had on gloves!! The lady who did my pedicure rushed so much that she cut me and used the napkin to clean my cut and placed it back on the countertop and tried to wipe of my nail with that same napkin 30 minutes later!! I asked the nail technician to please be careful with my toe because I had stubbed it and broke the nail awkwardly- instead she ends up cutting me on both of my toes while cutting my cuticles and I start bleeding. She then filed my finger nails but didn't even them out. Oh! And She also put on a really old topcoat on my nails and when it dried it looked bubbled. So by the time I got home my nails were chipped and later one of my nails broke because of the awkward filing they did. I am never going there again. read more

I will never be coming back to this salon. Despite the girl doing my nails very well, the service was awful. First off, when I walked in, the receptionist was lounging in the pedicure chair. When I was telling her what I wanted to be done, she was blankly staring at me. I should've got out of there then. When the girl was doing my nails, I told her to be careful of my cuticles because they are a little sensitive. I pulled back in pain a couple times when she burned me, and I wasn't being overdramatic. She never said sorry once. Instead, she continued talking and laughing with the other employees taking absolutely no notice to my pain. Pathetic excuse for a nail salon. Cleanliness is not their concern. I asked for an acrylic fill with no chip. I walked in at 10:30 and the tech (Cindy) was done (???) In 32 minutes. I had to ask her to clean under my nails and she did only after saying that they usually charge extra for this!! My nails were not given ample time under the light and they now look smudged. Only went to this nail salon because my regular salon was closed and wanted pedicure..I will never return. The nail tech rushed the service. I requested acrylic on my toe nails and she did not file the acrylic down enough to where it looked natural, so after she applied the nail polish the nail looked extremely thick because when didnt file down enough. I asked her to file it down more and she ended up filing over my cuticles causing them to bleed, I just told her to forget it because I was afraid she'd keep hitting my skin. They need to do a better job, have patience and take time when they are completing their services, the service was $50 for gel polish and the acrylic, but she only charged me $45 for the service probably because I wasn't happy for the service..I tipped her $5 for her efforts but I will never return...I need for nail techs to take their time when completing my nail services as much as we are paying, and many times people are going twice a month. read more

The location is very convenient. Because it is the mall so I can shop and get my hair or nails done just one stop. I've been modern Nails' client for many, many years. In general they are ok. I am satisfied with their services. But one thing happened last Saturday make me so mad. I sent my daughter there for her pedicure and eyebrows. The lady who performed service on my daughter didn't do good job. She messed up my daughter' eyebrows. Hers was uneven and one side totally disappeared on the end. My daughter started crying. Instead of fixing for her, the lady denied her fault with her terrible English. She was so rude and yelling at my daughter. It was a worst day that my daughter hasn't had in her life. Really wish I had the read the reviews before coming here. I was in town for a wedding, and needed my nails done for a trip I was going on the next day. Decided to get a full set, and came here because when I called they said it was $25. Which is as cheap as it gets. But you get what you pay for..this place is so incredibly dirty I couldn't believe it. But I was on a time crunch so stayed anyway. Showed them a picture of what I wanted, and they proceeded to tell me they needed to do a gel acrylic (which I'm pretty sure they didn't even use that, and used a regular acrylic anyway. Still charging me an extra $10 though) and that I needed a no chip on top. Which was an additional $10. Tried to ask for regular polish but they insisted I needed the no chip to get my nails like the picture. Ok fine, did it because I figured they knew better then me. The nails turned out ok. But were way too long, and uneven. After I filed them myself they looked way better. So I paid $45 for a full set that I didn't even really like, and at a place that clearly needs to be shut down immediately due to sanitary reasons. Do NOT go here!!! read more

I have been going to Modern Nails for almost 10 years. Tan usually does my nails. Today he was busy and some other girl did them. I wanted a regular manicure and pedicure. She got an attitude with me when I did not want no chip on my toes. Then when she starts doing my nails she's poking at my toes and it hurts. I asked her to stop and she just giggles and says something to her partner. When she starts painting my toes, the polish was coming out in globs and looked awful. I asked her if she had a different color and she again got an attitude. I went to get another color and the girl told me to hurry up she had people waiting. I finally had enough of her attitude and just asked to pay for what she had done. The girl wanted to charge me $30 for a basic pedicure and no polish. I then just picked something for her to put on my toes and asked her for my Coach sandals back which were left at the pedicure chair. The girl then tells me I didn't come in with sandals on. I walked in BAREFOOT?! I said if she didnt' give me my shoes back I was calling the cops. Then she goes in the back room and gets my shoes. How did they wind up back there?! My friend and I decided to go get our nails done here. There was no wait, and there were plenty of nail techs ready to help. However, both of us encountered problems with our techs. My tech was very quiet with me and blunt. She continuously urged me to do "no chip" or "gel" polish, even though I told her I just wanted regular nail polish multiple times. She did my nails super quickly, and had no regard for the pain she was inflicting me with. She scratched me with the file numerous times because she was going to quickly and wasn't paying enough attention to what she was doing. When she was finished applying the polish she told me to move over to this little booth to dry my nails. In past visits, the nail tech would help with my items and move them over to the drying station so I would not mess up my nails. However, this nail tech did not. So, I nicked a couple of my nails and messed up the polish. When I asked her if she could fix it, she said "Oh my god, how old are you?" in such a demeaning way. I was beyond pissed. And to add on top of that, she got out the polish remover and started removing it all while throwing around the bottle and paper towels because she had such an attitude. When she was finished, my nails were finally dry so I put on some lotion. She yelled at me and told me my nails weren't dry. I told her that they were and that I had touched each of them to make sure. And she kept rolling her eyes and shaking her head saying, "no they're not". But they were definitely dry. Now onto my friends nails. Her nail tech continuously urged her to do "gel" or "no chip" but she also asked for regular nail polish. However the nail tech started with Gel. My friend told her again that she did NOT want gel, she wanted regular nail polish. So the nail tech charged her 10 extra dollars because some of her nails were gel and the others were regular polish, even though it was the techs fault, not my friends. My friends middle nail is butchered and will probably end up getting it fixed else where. Never again! read more

They do what they want.They don't pay attention to you because they are to busy talking to co-workers in a different language. You can't have color change nail polish unless it's the whole nail. I asked for them to cut the length a little. They filed it flush to my finger. Had nail junk under my nails. Nails felt like they were glued to my skin. Very uncomfortable. Told person was not happy with the service or my nails. All he said was sorry. My friends nails looked like a bad press on nail job and design was atrocious. Asked to speak to a manager. Complained to her. All she said was so sorry. Didn't offer to fix nails when I told her I had to go some where else and pay more money to fix. Didn't offer a free fill in for next time either. I was totally unhappy with service, I was getting a pedicure done I was offered several different pedicures for an extra cost, young lady was very pushy, I had to ask her 3 different times if she was going to take the old polish off, and she left lots underneath a herbal pedicure which I paid the extra 5 dollars for was nothing but simple soap, no powders or rubs or anything rip off!! The other lady that was getting a pedicure done was offered water so when her nail tech got up to get the Also asked for one as well, VERY RUDE !!! there air conditioning was broken and they had 1 fan! Felt like I was in a sweat shop, the time came for my manicure and she put me in the chair didn't even clean under the nails left them as is, and LEFT Polish Underneath again .. I have been a customer here for literally years, I am a good tipper and consider myself a good customer. I unfortunately have never been treated so rudely the last 2 times I have been there specifically by one technician. I consider this experience a luxury for myself and the last few times it has been a terrible experience and I will not return. I think if they want to stay in business the management should be looking closely at how the customers are being treated. I needed a fill and the girl I had the first time was off so someone else took me. After sitting down the woman grabbed my hand and yanked it towards her so hard that my joints popped. When I said ouch, she told me that it didn't hurt and that I was being a baby. When she asked what color I wanted and I told her no color, just clear, she told me that I had to have a color because it's christmas time. Again I said just clear. She snorted and mumbled something which I couldn't make out. While filing off the polish, she cut my cuticle and finger open which started bleeding. This was ignored and she kept working. By this point I didn't have a choice but to get my nails finished since most of my nails were filed and looked horrible. After the acrylic was applied I noticed there was glitter on my nails. I asked if she would be able to file it out since I don't want glitter on my nails either. The woman told me that she knows how to do nails and to not tell her how to do her job. At the end she asked what shape I wanted. I told her to leave them as is, which is square. The woman said okay, yet filed them how she wanted, which was to a rounded point.
