Went here to get my acrylics soaked off since they were wayyyyy overgrown since giving birth and also get a pedicure. I'm glad that this salon actually soaks off the acrylic and not rip them off causing more damage. I got a no chip mani after the acrylics were soaked off and they look so great! Found this little gem through Yelp! Was looking for a nail salon that had great hours, was easy to book with (love the Vagaro app) and had skilled technicians. Nova did not disappoint! I've seen both Ehthna and Mars. Talented nail technicians that aim to please. I haven't done anything crazy just a no chip mani and pedi. Love the elevated pedi stations. Only come here if you want to hear the owners yell at their employees. I was getting my nails done when I see one of the owners barge from the back room with a box putting in her employees stuff in there saying "she's not going to stay here she needs to get out" it seems to me someone doesn't know to keep things professional therefore I won't do my nails at nova bar no more since I don't feel comfortable and I don't want to watch my back from the owner firing her employees. Yes it took 3 1/2 hours for Gel X but it Angela perfected my nails to the absolute T. I will be going here from here on out for my Gel X to grow out my natural nails because this product is absolutely amazing for your nail health! I don't do acrylic so I cannot attest to that, but they are the place I got my wedding nails done and they did a fantastic job with the design. I feel that says a lot about them. Went with my mom for 2 pedicures - was running late for our appointment and we called and they were so nice and understanding. Everyone was so nice and the 2 techs helping us made us feel comfortable and had a nice conversation throughout. And they did such a nice job on my French tip. Loved my experience! New gel set for $35 plus tip. My gel nails had been cracking and breaking because of many previous experiences of getting them drilled when removed. I was pleasantly surprised to know that they removed my gel nails in a less aggressive way with acetone! I didn't feel that typical burning sensation when drilled. I also like that they asked me to wash my hands at the beginning (something that other nail salons don't, unfortunately) and they appear to have sanitized their main metal tools using an autoclave. The only suggestion for improvement I have to offer is to keep the general work areas cleaner/tidier. My tech was Molly and I loved her! Will be coming back. read more

I've gone here 3 times for a no chip manicure and 2 of the times the polish has chipped off within the first week. I've had no chip manicures from many different salons, but I've never had it chip off. I called them and they had me make an appt to have it fixed. I came in for my appt time and there was only one nail tech and I was going to have to wait over 30 minutes - so I left since I had another commitment. I came back in a couple days and they redid all the chipped ones (5) and painted over the other ones. Then one of them chipped again within a few days!! My two friends and I came here on Sunday as it was one of the only places open. First of, they over booked appointments and I had to wait while two other ladies got helped who walked in way after us. Then the lady doing our nails tried to ask me if we were in a rush because they had a party of 7 also come in way after us for pedicures and she wanted to stop doing my nails to do pedicures which was not happening. Made an appointment and was immediately taken back when I got there which was nice, a lot of places you have to wait even with an appointment. I got a no chip pedicure and manicure. The reason for the lower rating is that my nail tech probably answered 6 personal calls on her cell phone and made 4 outgoing calls all during that time. She wasn't focused on what she was doing and as a result my manicure didn't last a week. There were two other women there getting pedicures when I came in and somehow my pedicure was finished before theirs, quick and sloppy work for the price. I am not likely to return here read more

Finding a nail shop that's open on a Monday in Rockford can be a challenge. Luckily, I found this gem of a place on Yelp! I love when a business allows you to book services online and responds to Yelp or Facebook messages. Let's be honest no one really likes having to call to make appointments. Nova Nail Bar responded to my message for 2 no-chips and pedicures within 30 minutes. Less than 10 minutes my mom and I were booked for our appointments. Boom! The nail salon is in a strip mall that I've passed a billion times. Honestly, never even noticed it was right there. The salon is clean, brightly lit and modern. I do wish the price menu was a bit easier to read. We were greeted and our tubs were already prepared. The nail polish selection is pretty solid. Seriously, their no chip color selection is amazing! I changed my mind 15 times since there were so many colors and finishes before my pedicure was even done. The nail technician, Mout, did a great job! She was professional and detailed. One thing I did like is that this salon is not as chatty as other nail places I've been to in the area. When I get my nails done I like to zone out and relax. Yes, they will chat if you want, but you're not required to. The last nail salon I went to in Rockford felt like it was an interrogation. The no chip from Mout looks phenomenal! She did a great job shaping and painting my nails. Bless her heart for putting up me and my I can't figure out what color to choose!! 10/10 would recommend this place! I've been going to the same place since high school and I'm SO happy my girlfriend talked me into trying this place. You walk in and are immediately greeted by their friendly staff, they appreciate appointment only but will take walk ins if they have time. I had the honor of having Bill do a No Chip Manicure that was amazing. Complete with a hot towel and a hand massage at the end. I had to pick a rating of 1, but if I could choose zero stars I would. FILTHY salon! They don't wipe down the counters after customers. JUNK EVERYWHERE. POLISH EVERYWHERE. While the nail tech was doing my nails she answered the phone the whole time and booked appointments. In the middle of my manicure they switched me to another nail tech so the first girl could do designs on someone else. Then the new nail tech had a full on conversation the entire time in another language while she did my nails. Beyond rude. My nails looked as horrible as the service. Was looking for a place to get my nails done. I'm new to the area (was just passing through) and I was searching for a place to get my nails done last minute. This place popped up and it looked promising. I called to make an appointment and they were booked and they told me if I could make it by a certain time then they could fit me in. I was able to get there in time and was greeted by a nice young man upon arrival. I was seated and the man who was going do my nails approached me. I had came in for a fill and I had stiletto nails but wanted them square. He managed to do them square without having to remove the nails and start over from scratch. You can tell this man has talent because he really took his time to perfect everything. There was so many colors to choose from but he reassured me I can take my time to choose a color. I chose my color and he made sure to put any last touches on the nails before putting the color and let me tell you...they came out beautiful. The color is gorgeous. I had asked him what the name of the color was in case I were to return again and he said that they create a file for you with your name and they put the name of the nail colors you use in case you would want the same one when you return. Not a good first impression. I went ahead and let Julie do my no-chip mani and regular pedi. Big disappointment. My no chip nail polish started chipping & peeling after two days and the pedi was just that, regular. The atmosphere is very nice and clean. The the quality of my nails and the price that I paid for them are not equivalent. I did the dip powder manicure and my nails are uneven, they feel bumpy and some nails are thicker than others. My thumb nail is also peeling off, I got the manicure done 3 days ago. When asking advice on what type of manicure I should do they did not answer my questions and didn't seem too pleased that I asked about the different types offered. I probably wouldn't return due to the quality and them not wanting to answers questions. But I wouldn't say this is the worst nail salon I've been to. read more

Well, unfortunately today was my last day at Nova Nail Bar. I had been a client for a couple of years and this was hands down the best shop in town. Until they sold it... (crying). I noticed my Facebook messages were not being answered by them, and it was hard to get ahold of them on the phone. Very unusual. Finally I got in for an appt at 11am and I literally sat there until 11:55am with Acetone on my nails for 55min. My sister and I had scheduled a babysitter so we could get our nails done, and given in the past how good Nova was at being timely, we expected to be done by noon. Well, They admitted to being overbooked. So I asked if I could come back later and they gladly told me yes, and they'd give me a discount. I ended up canceling my return appt and went elsewhere. They were very kind and I wish this business the best. But it's not the Nova Nail Bar I used to know. So I won't be coming back. read more

Coming from a licensed cosmetologist.. this business should be avoided. My sister who came in town from the Military to visit before leaving the country decided to go with my mom who is a returning client.. my sisters nails looked AWFUL! She wasn't able to return back to get them fixed due to leaving back to the military... so after discussing another solution a refund was given & now they are refusing my mother service and no more appointments!
