My pedicure was ok. They didn't exfoliate (which I was on need of) with the cheese grater, the menu said it came with paraffin wax, but it didn't and when I asked about it they just said "we do this other thing instead." This place was pretty good. They use liners which I appreciate and it seemed overall clean. The polish was great and lasted a long time on my pedicure. Do not come here if you want your feet exfoliated. The lady doing mine and the guy doing my friends did barely any exfoliation. My lady lightly rubbed the scrubber down my foot once and didnt hit the whole thing even. My friend asked for more. They did do really well at the massage part. Went in for a Gel manicure. I picked out the color I wanted, it was a cats eye polish. First the technician couldn't find the color, so she demanded that I choose a different color. The manager found the color and gave it to the technician. Then she kept getting up and leaving the station. When she tried to do the cats eye on my nails she must not have known what she was doing because I have looked at the color out in the sunshine, it looks just like a sparkle in the polish, there is no cats eye design. She also only put one coat of the cats eye on one nail and was going to top coat it until I showed her, she acted like I was crazy and didn't know what I was talking about. I've been here a few times because it had great reviews and was inexpensive. It was always very subpar but this time was terrible. Just don't go here. They don't use liners. They use the same crusty mail file for everyone. the nail tech i had clearly did not want to be there. she was so rude. exfoliated my legs dry. no water. nothing. made my skin extremely red. instead of a gentle massage she hit my feet a few times and called it a day. after she "finished" my pedicure i noticed she failed to put a top coat on one of my feet. at that point i was so frustrated and unhappy with the service i decided to pay, tip, and leave. of course i left a tip but i will not be returning. i feel like i wasted my money. i dont not get the luxury of getting pedicures often. i could've just painted my toes at home. read more

My mom found Modern on Yelp, close to our new house. I thought it was a very good sign when I walked in and saw a sign that they were raising their prices for the first time in 13 years. It's not fancy, but they do a great job and that's what I care about. The first time I came in, Sonny helped me, and he was excellent. He was easy to visit with, and before I knew it, my mani was finished. The next time I came in, Mini helped me soak off a bad dip I had gotten somewhere else and we started over. The last time I came in, the person who helped me was a little rougher with me and I got a small cut on my thumb from the tool slipping, but she felt so bad and spent a lot of time cleaning it up and making it feel better. I'm sure I make them crazy because I always want my nails so short, but they never make me feel bad about it! I think I've found my Edmond nails shop. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I called last Monday (05/08) for an appointment today (05/18) for dip with tips and a pedicure. I am not sure if my appointment was never recorded or what, but when I walked in they were almost confused that I had an appointment at 10 (I arrived a few minutes earlier as well). I didn't catch any of their names, the only person who made me feel welcome was one of the girls there. One of the guys there told me to wait 10 minutes, which is cool I don't mind waiting a bit. Well 10 minutes comes & goes, I get taken for my pedicure & everything is going well until the same guy who told me to wait 10 minutes comes by & says he's ready to do my nails. Mind you, I am still under the assumption that a nail tech was assigned to me BECAUSE I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT and the point of an APPOINTMENT is to be seen for all the services I wanted to have done at the time I agreed to with the salon. I told the girl doing my pedicure that I want to get this certain design that's I wanted on my middle and ring finger on both hands (picture below) with the same color as my toes which was a coral pink color. I tell the guy the same thing & show him the inspo picture & that I wanted the color the same as my toes, the guy goes "Uhhh I only have 30 minutes I won't have time to do your nails." At this point I am annoyed & irritated because how is it that I made an appointment & no one has time to do my nails?? When I had called and told them everything I wanted done, design included! After my pedicure, I am sent to this other guy who by the way smelled bad, it was very unpleasant. I showed him the design I wanted and that I wanted it to match the color of my toes, and he goes *big sigh* "I'll try.." LIKE WHAT?? I finally decided before he even attempted to do the design to just do a solid color and try and get out of there as fast as possible. After the guy finished doing my nails (which by the way, NO TIPS were used after I had asked for them!) I noticed that the nail color DID NOT MATCH MY TOES. I am so annoyed and pissed off at this point that I wanted to cry (and I did). This was my first time at this salon and I will NOT be going back. I think what pissed me off more was the fact that I made a freaking appointment & I was not treated as such. read more

They don't spend much time on massages and they don't accept AmEx and they also most importantly removed like 5% of my foot calluses- the whole point of a pedicure!!! It's a family run business, so they're very sweet and helpful. A few times in the beginning my gel polish came off quicker than I would like, but I think it was the brand of polish I used. I wanted to like this place so much. I've been searching for a favorite Edmond nail spot for the last few months and this one just isn't it. I tried Modern Nails and Spa because of all the good reviews it had. The salon has a deal where if you give them five stars in Yelp then they will give you $5 off on your next visit. I think this is why it had so many high ratings. I went in for a Gel Polish Manicure. When I walked in it was pretty empty and there was a man laying on the couch. He said, "Can I help you?" I told him what I wanted and he didn't even get up to help me find the gel polish. He just vaguely pointed in a direction. This same man never got up the entire time I was there. He even fell asleep and started snoring. My nail tech was nice but didn't say any words to me the entire time. I don't even know his name. After going home and a few hours later I noticed that my nails were "gummy." When I tested it with my nail it put a line indent in it. Which I've never had gel do that before. The facility could definitely use some cleaning. It was pretty cluttered which gave me the impression that it was probably dirty. This is a pretty decent nail shop. They've been open for eleven years so that's pretty awesome. Its a family owned business with nice service. They give really nice pedicures. Probably one the best I've had in a long time. The nail colors are a little limited in comparison to other shops. I didn't see any spraying of alcohol on thw tools. That's important because I like to know there's a minimal risk of germs lingering around from past clients. Nonetheless, the place seemed clean and had good service. Well 1.5 days later 1 nail fell off and they fixed it for free... 2 days later 6 fell off, and I mean they just fell off. I've recently moved here for college and I've been on the hunt for a good, not-too-expensive nail salon. Not only is the service great here, but it's clean too. A lot of nail places claim they can do an ombré nail but they come out horrible. I got ombré here after seeing some pictures and let's just say, they did not disappoint. My nail tech was very personable and friendly, even joked around a little bit which i liked, considering some are quiet, and even rude at times. I made an appointment and was so glad that I did. I arrived early and they started right away. The spa type treatment was amazing. I did a clear dip on and asked for a it to not be applied so thick and she did an amazing job. looked absolutely natural. The dip lasted 2 full weeks before starting to crack and break. Hands down the BEST pedicure I've ever had and I've been to dozens of nail shops all over Oklahoma, Texas and California. I'm flying out to Miami tomorrow and needed a quick pedicure and Modern Nails was the closest to my house. I called and asked if they had time for two pedicures and they said yes. My nail tech was Hien and she's AMAZING! As the sign said on the door said ; "Gentleman welcome" and they delivered. She executed a detailed pedicure that was enjoyable and fast!
