He has very nice bed-manners too. He is in a new office now, Eye to Eye on 432 W 19th St. and works only on Wednesday. Three days ago, I realized that I had a stye and it was painful. He was fully booked for the coming Wednesday. However, when his assistant told him that I had a painful stye, he made time to see me at noon! He is an awesome person. So he gave me a good treatment and taught me how to prevent it from happening again. I love that he shares his knowledge and explains things well. I highly recommend Dr. Ullman.

Dr Anderson was able to evaluate and treat my eye problem on the same day. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that I could fully understand. After my visit, Dr Anderson and Miriam helped me find some coupons for my prescriptions since I don't currently have insurance. The office visit was super affordable for a cash pay patient. While their website booking was down, I called in and was able to book an appointment within 2 days. Google Maps takes you to the right place - it's a small parking lot. Inside is a bright and welcoming lobby. My eye exam went smoothly and Dr. Nguyen showed me the images of my Meibomian glands, which indicated that I had a stye in both my upper and lower eyelids. No wonder the swelling was so bad... I was sold on a special moist eye compress mask and did not purchase any frames or lenses during my visit as I had to get back to work. The eye compress price was comparable to Amazon's. The office staff were even considerate enough to give me some sun filters after the dilation for my drive home as I'd forgotten my sunglasses. Overall, a very pleasant visit, about an hour and some change because of the dilation time for a new patient. Would come back again!

The clinic is busy, but the system and secretaries make things run quite smooth. I'm a rather difficult case, presenting with angle recession glaucoma following an injury I had over 15 years ago. After a botched attempt in changing my eyedrop regiment at another clinic, Dr. Coburn's team accepted me as a patient and asked me to come by ASAP. As bad as the situation was, Dr. Coburn set me back on the right path. When I'm in a critical point in my care, the doctors here are willing to make exceptions. Dr. Queen has placed a beautiful shunt in my eye. I can't see it. Post-op check ups are frequent and I feel comfortable as a patient. Compared to other clinics, communication is quick and much needed emergency visits are taken seriously. Hard to get care this good anywhere.

I kind of rolled my eyes, because it sounded too good to be true. But I tried it at her recommendation and I will say, I was impressed at first. The customer service was top notch and like nothing I had ever experienced at an optometrist office. I was not expecting to spend $1,000 on glasses but I did. Dr. Paul took his time and you could tell he really cared and was passionate about his profession. The equipment and technology was cool too. I felt like I was in a science museum. That was my first visit. The second visit was good too, and my eyesight hadn't changed. Dr. Paul brought up contacts but I told him that contacts made my eyes itch and he asked me about the kind I had prior and I shared reusable. He recommended daily contacts. I tried on a trial and liked them. I had also mentioned LASIK and he gave me a recommendation for a specialist that he trusted. Here's where things go south--I decide to get contacts. I ask, "what's the difference between getting an annual supply vs. a 3 month supply?" The lady says not a difference really it's just that the annuals are slightly cheaper. Since I was considering LASIK, I asked her what the price was for a 3 month supply? She said $99 and I said, "okay and if I get more contacts in 3 months, how much will it be?" She said it'll only be $99 and repeated that it was only cheaper if I did annual but it'd be the same price for another 3 month supply. This was about 3 months ago. So I send a text the day after Memorial Day asking for an invoice for another 3 month supply. I'm now told it's $250 not $99. I told the lady that I was confused, because the price is more than double the price. I called the office because sometimes things are better said over phone than text. The lady answers and I share with her what happened and she puts me on hold for about 15 minutes to ask her manager. She tells me that the manager Marisol (I think that's what she said her name was) is out to lunch and she'll give me a call back. I didn't receive a call back but a text message saying they apologize for the miscommunication on their end but it was always $250 and the insurance made it $99 and I'd need to wait until 2024 to get more contacts if I wanted to pay $99. I asked for what I was told initially to be honored and was told that the manager, Dr. Paul would not honor it and to let them know if I needed anything else. So you tell me one price, it isn't accurate and instead of honoring it or meeting me halfway, it's more of a too bad, so sad response. I'm always surprised how business owners will lose dollars, trying to save pennies. Nevertheless, I no longer recommend this practice as telling a client one price and then changing on them later isn't in integrity. If you decide to go here, I'd recommend getting all charges in writing. I'm sad to say that I will not be returning due to that bat and switch experience. -------------------- UPDATE: DR. PAUL MADE IT RIGHT. He also clarified some things, and I'm clear, happy and will continue coming back!!! Mistakes and miscommunications happen but how you handle them is what you sets you apart.
