I'm absolutely delighted that Modern Display has reopened their doors in Murray, Utah! I follow them on IG, and saw their announcement saying they were reopening this week at the former Shopko on State Street. This new place is huge, everything is spaced out well, and the place is well-lit so it's easy to see all the wonderful merchandise. The service I received was terrific. I was there to inquire about lighting for my patio, since they carry really lovely custom lights that lend a romantic feel to any garden space. They were able to answer all my questions, and provided me with helpful tips and suggestions. While Modern Display's new store has only been open for four days now, you wouldn't know it! They're already well stocked with classy and fun Halloween, Autumn Harvest, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and other Winter decor. As part of their grand reopening, they were advertising all Fall and Halloween merchandise at 25% off, and it's ridiculously cute stuff! Staff pointed out that the Christmas/Holiday trees aren't decorated yet. No worries, that just means I get to have an excuse to come back n' see! What a major disappoint. Never again. We made a long drive to Salt Lake to their location on 7th East. A holiday joy right after Halloween. Every inch of their location was very pleasant, fun, holiday spirit. All categories of holiday ware to add to a home. We were very disappointed to hear they were moving. Ya'll are really doing Modern Display dirty huh? I will relinquish a bit of criticism, because I agree that yes, prices are high. Maybe a bit overpriced, but because of the quality provided, I'm not going to get too political. Modern Display is not Target, and it's not a Spirit Halloween popup. If you're thinking of coming in and getting a barrage of decor for a reasonable price, you've already lost half the battle. Unless of course money isn't an issue and you spend without consequence, then hell, I'm jealous. The thing is, items aren't shoddily made here. It's somewhat akin to buying well made clothing. Yes, it's expensive, and truthfully it hurts at first. But you're likely making an investment in a quality item that will outlast and outperform that cute but rickety piece from Walmart. That's the honest truth. The lighting section is also no joke. I'll know I've made it when I can come in here and comfortably buy a few strands. As I'm writing this review, I'm looking at purple and orange Halloween lights I purchased from MD, that are so brilliantly colored, that every time I see them, I'm reminded of what a great investment it was. My only complaint? I wish there was a little bit more seasonal decor. You can tell that Christmas sits at the top of Modern Display's pyramid, and I wouldn't hate to see just a little bit more variety from season to season. This is a beautiful showroom, that I come to a couple times a year. That's more than enough to satiate the urge, and still walk away with a great item. Yes, MD is terribly expensive but their outdoor holiday lights are very durable and they have excellent variety. Where else can you customize your own string of light with the exact colors you want? Their service is fantastic. They have many employees so there is always someone around to help and answer questions. I interacted with 3 employees on the floor and all three of them were very nice and helpful. I am ok paying for quality, variety, and excellent service. read more

Never Ever Go Here To Shop. Was treated so badly by the employees, managers, and the owners sons to not leave anything but the worst review I can think of. They are so dishonest about honoring the apparently worthless guarantees that the say they offer on their crap products. I do not recommend that anyone do business here. For the rest of my life i will make sure to tell everyone i can how absolutely horrible this company is and how untrustworthy they are. and then on top of that they are so horribly rude it is ridiculous. My husband and I walked in to the store and before we could take five stars in a dark haired man maybe in his 60's asked if we were looking for anything, we responded with a no thank you. He then said we close in 5 minutes. This site says closing is at 8:00. A good part of my career has been in customer service, and there is no way I would hand over my earnings to help sustain a business that has no regard or respect for their clientele. We turned and said no bother we'll leave now and did. We will never return and will spread the word of how we were treated. read more

Modern display is more expensive, but if you want Walmart quality lights go to Walmart.... These guys have decorations and lights that are better than anywhere else in the valley. In addition, these guys can give you advice and help you do it right...try and get that from Walmart! read more

We rented a bunch of ferns for a wedding and were very happy with Modern Display. Florists insisted we would have to BUY ferns and they would be $50+ per plant, stands, etc etc, and it just wasn't possible to get a large quantity of plants. Luckily we came across Modern Display who rented us many potted plants at around $15 per plant, including delivery, set up, and take down. They were very helpful and familiar with our venue so they could recommend how many plants we should rent. We were able to create the ambiance we wanted only with Modern Display's great prices and service. I highly recommend checking them out for plant and event rentals. read more

This store has customized lighting and decor options you can't get at a standard home department store. They don't sell low quality stuff. Some of it is pricey and some of it is actually quite reasonable. But you can't beat it for setting up a legit holiday lighting system. read more

Great holiday shopping experience. I couldn't be more thrilled with the surprise Christmas gift my husband purchased for me ... a 12 ft. Tall Nutcracker! Manager David and sales associates Audrey and Natalie were super helpful. I love the selection and quality of the merchandise that Modern Display carries. Strange people and prices are WAY too high... you can find most anything they sell here online for a fraction of the price!! Customer service was terrible and no one seemed to know much of anything. Purchased a $600 tree with what we thought had a three year warranty on the lights. We started having issues with the lights on the 2nd year and didn't take it in until the next Christmas. We started calling in November and were told that only one person handles the warranty. Never heard back so we decided to put up the tree and deal with it after Christmas. We called back a week after New Year's and was told there are a few people ahead of us on the list and the guy would call us back within a few days. One month later we had to call again. FINALLY got a hold of the ONE person who does the warranty's. He said to bring in the tree and it would be a few weeks. When he called back he told us that we bought this tree on an "as is" sale and there was no warranty. Thinking back to when we bought it the cashier said we had to buy a certain surge protector to not void the warranty. Then when we purchased the surge protector and the tree we were given the warranty paperwork and was told to register tree. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated. We've loved the tree, but the customer service has been a huge joke. From not getting a call back, to being told we purchased an "as is" tree when we KNOW we didn't. read more

Buy your artificial Christmas Tree at Costco. You will save around $800! You will get a better quality tree and it will last longer! I have bought trees from Modern Display and they do not warranty them. I had nothing but problems with the tree purchased from Modern Display and they just told me it wasn't warranted because I did not use a surge suppressor. paid over $1300 for a Pre-strung Christmas Tree from them approximately 8 years ago; and it was on sale! It had like 1800 lights on on it. The first year it looked great. The next year, a bunch of the bulbs were burned out. I took it in to them, and was told It was not warranted, due to the fact I did not use a surge suppressor. So I paid one of their employees to replace all of the bulbs, and bought a surge suppressor. I still had to continue to replace the bulbs that year. The next year I plugged the tree in, and there were several hundred bulbs burned out, So I purchased a commercial bulb finder, that would help find the burnt out bulbs and I also punched several hundred bulbs to replace the burnt out ones. The next year, I plugged in the tree and had a bunch of burnt out lights again!! I threw the $1600 tree in the garbage and went shopping at several stores. I ended up at Costco, spent around $500, and have been happy ever sense. The tree looks real, and is so easy to assemble. Takes longer to has the sections upstairs, then it does to assemble. The lights always work, and we can even choose between white or colored. I realize that when I bought my tree at Modern Display, it was not LED, however I paid a lot of money for it, and expected a quality product. They charge you a huge price and do not back up their product. If you are buying a tree, I would stay away from Modern Display, and consider alternative places. I you do not like Costco. Try Balsm Trees. I cannot tell you how well they do, but their customer service could not be worst then Modern Display. I am still using the Costco tree, problem free, and it has been over 5 years. read more

Worst customer service ever!! Relative purchase an item from them and had it shipped to her from modern display. The item was a duplicate of what I already had. Went into the store to exchange it. The lady was extremely rude. She went and got the manager and he was even worst. He told me he would not take it back because there was tape on it from shipping it to my relative. He then showed me one of many no return signs. Be careful what you buy there is perfect. And don't expect them to care about your satisfaction. read more
