I never got a solid plan, they hard-sold me high, promising we would reduce it, just to make me sign the contract. (my first mistake) Of course, those meetings to discuss my priorities and reduce the budget, never came. My dream wasn't realized as they either vetoed, forgot or bumbled each feature of my design. Examples: I have a wavy wall, it took them days to correct the paint throughout the house, they flat refused to match my craftsman trim, they forgot my vented kitchen hood, vetoed my transom (they don't even know what that is), failed plumbing inspection three times and nearly blew up my house. (I'm not embellishing) Had to install the cabinets twice (ordered incorrectly and hung at the wrong height), the rough plumbing is so poorly done that the knobs don't sit right and turn lop-sided; failed to contain the renovation dust which covered even stuff inside cabinets and drawers throughout the house. The cleaning crew came multiple times and I still had to hire my own at a cost of $360, to get all the ceiling fans, fixtures, floors, etc. finally clear of dust and paint splatters. They scratched my hardwoods and damaged my stove. To top it off, they stopped paying the subs and one of them put a lien on my house, EVEN though, i was up to date on my payment arrangement. (Yes, that's totally legal, for some reason!) The drama continues as I need help correcting some issues that i don't feel I should have to live with. Once in the store, I was able to receive service. After scheduling an appointment we received a quote to replace the tile in our master bath. We were ready to move forward until we read the contract. The terms of the Good Guys Flooring contract were unreasonable. Per the contract, an upfront payment of 75% is required. Cancellation would result in the loss of up to 50% of the deposit. We requested that a start date and date of completion be added to the contract before we would sign. Without a date, the company could delay our project indefinitely and keep our money after we got tired of waiting. The store representative stated that he needed to speak to the manager regarding our concerns. We never heard from him again. Eventually, the DocuSign contract was canceled. I guess there is such a thing as having more business than you can handle.
