Excellent service! 20 years of experience at the same location! The ladies are very nice and understand the requests of style requested. I get the $20 haircut which is all I need. So not sure how well they actually style your hair. I am pretty easy going with not many particulars for my hair. So, they are worth a try. read more

Just got back! My first time at this barber shop. It was a good experience. Tina cut my hair and did a great job! I found Tina to be friendly and engaging. She's worked there for 21 years. And the haircut price was reasonable. read more

My first time to get hair cut here. I see other customers like their service and hair cut. Now is my turn to get hair cut. Disappointed. I showed her the hair style I like. Not meeting my expectation. Hair all over place. read more

I'm pretty particular about my haircuts, so much so that I decided to grow my hair out rather than risk a bad cut when I moved to SoCal. But with my sister's wedding on the horizon, I knew I needed to find a place that could deliver. After reading some great reviews, I decided to give this spot a shot--and I'm so glad I did. I walked away with a fresh, perfect cut and received countless compliments from friends and family at the wedding. Now, I've found my go-to spot for haircuts. read more

Stella is a master Haircutter! Hi She took the time to ask me what I wanted, and look at the pictures of the hairstyle I wanted. Then she cut my hair perfectly like the example I showed her!! Thank you Stella, Rick Riassetto read more

I've been going here regularly ever since I moved to the area last year. Overall here all the ladies are very friendly and give you the cut you want quickly. This place can get popular sometimes and there could be a wait of 3-4 people in front of you. Usually I don't wait long, but on some instances I have had to wait 30 min. Cheap prices. I'll keep coming back here! read more

Excellent service, great haircuts, competitive prices. The young lady barbers create a very nice business setting.

They are horrible at listening. I wanted long bangs not straight. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She did absolutely opposite and made them too short. I will not be going to this place ever again. I hate them so much and the fact that I have to now wait for them to grow. You will not be seeing my business anymore and you're lucky I even gave you a tip. I should've gave you a tip by saying do better next time. You really pissed me off. My bangs are so ugly. I would rather have a refund and go to someone else who knows what they were doing and actually listening. It sucks that she can't listen. read more

Quick friendly good & inexpensive. To meet Yelp's minimum review length, let me repeat, they are quick friendly good & inexpensive.

Excellent barber shop. Most importantly, they do a good job. Secondly, they are very friendly and very nice people. Thirdly, they are inexpensive. Finally, there are three who all do a fine job so there is no waiting. My personal favorite is Stella but i would let any of them cut my hair. Cheap, friendly, and excellent hair cutters, what more could you ask for?! read more

Don't go here they will mess up your hair. They did not follow the reference given and decided to cut what they felt liked. Asked for a high tight combover and instead got a shitty faux hawk. read more

It's August 2018, figured it is time for an update as now I've been coming here faithfully for 9 years (pretty much ever since I started my job which is close to this barbershop). Tina, Stella, and Kim are awesome as ever. My kids love it here too!! Whenever they come in they are happily greeted and can't wait to get their haircuts and their lollipops. I was perusing the reviews, there was one review that gave it four stars because of cleanliness. I would agree with this that the hair does tend to get around and if there was one thing to improve it would be to sweep up a bit more often. At the same time, I figure that's why somehow it never feels like a long wait despite how busy they are AND despite they never rush any cuts. The place never feels rushed and I'm guessing if something had to give it is sweeping up a bit less. Even with that, I would not stop coming here and have not stopped coming here. The price, quality of cut, friendliness, customer service are all top notch, and I really appreciate they are always super nice to my kids and that's why my kids are always so well behaved and smiling when sitting in the chair and getting their cuts (another big plus!) read more

I have been coming to this barbershop for a couple of times now. I generally have a really pleasant experience with all the ladies that worked here. They are very gentle and attentive. They have some of the best prices around here and so I always show my appreciation by tipping at least 40%... This review is only for this one particular lady that I have not seen before...maybe she had a bad day or something...but you should judge for yourself: After sitting down, she began her small talk...which is usual. She then proceed to inquire about my ethnicity. After learning that it was one of the country that her friend had recently visited, she began to bash the country and say that her friend had a really bad experience there. She said one of the tourist place was very dirty and the tour guide overcharged her friend. She also said that it rained most of the trip, which made the trip even worse. The more she talked the angrier her tone get...flailing her scissors around my head... In the meantime, I am sitting there in the barber chair, trying not get stab by her. I'm not really sure why she is taking her friend's bad experience out on me...I'm not the tour guide that took her friend to the country. I'm do not know her friend. I'm also not a weather god and am not able to dictate how a weather of a country should be on someone's trip. I'm just a guy, born in the United States, whose ancestors happens to be from the same country that her friend visited...trying to get a haircut on a relaxing Saturday. But I guess I should weight the blame for a bad vacation experience, not from herself, but her friend...? Needless to say, this was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. I just feel bad for the other barbers that had to bear working with this lady. I will not be coming back here and if you do come here I suggest you keep quiet about what your ethnicity is...god knows if the lady's friend travels around the world again and have a bad experience in a country that happens to be your great-great-great-great grandparent's birthplace, who knows what she is gonna do with her scissors! In the midst of all her complaints about her friend's trip, she of course did not give a good haircut. There were uneven sides and pieces of hair that I had to trim myself after I got home... read more

The lady's are super nice but look at this haircut wow. I'm sticking to my barber covid is the thing to blame because most places are closed. I don't wear hats but with this cut I need too read more

Fast and experienced, great haircuts for a reasonable price. Will be my go to barbershop going forward.

Reasonable prices, especially for the location. No frills. Showed them a picture of what I wanted and the haircut was exactly what I'd hoped for. Not Boujee like other places I've been to around the area. read more

Busy little barber shop but the two ladies cutting hair were fast. I think I waited less than 30 mins for my turn with about 4 people ahead of me. They listened to their customers and everyone looked good after they were done; nice fade on everyone (all male customers at the time). I came here on a Saturday about 2 hours before they closed and a few more customers came in after me; so they get busy which is good because i think that says a lot about the work they do. I only needed to clean my sides and back and they did what I asked them to (which is surprisingly difficult for a lot of hairdressers and barbers to do out there). My hair was cut the way I wanted it; took maybe 5 minutes; she worked fast but it didn't feel like it was done haphazardly. Male haircut: $14. She charged me only $13 possibly because she didn't have to do a whole lot; I would have gladly paid for the $14. Fast and cheap and good service. Why 4/5 stars? Cleanliness. Hair all over the floor from who knows how many people and it was piling up. I know it was a busy afternoon but it doesn't take too much time to sweep the floor. Doesn't have to be right after every customer either. But not a deal breaker; I'd still come back here! read more

I've been coming to this shop since I was five years old and have never switched salonists since. Tina, Stella, and Kim do an awesome job and always offered great pricing for the area. They're all super personable and will do a great job cutting your hair! read more

Product (+1 Positive): There are three barbers, I worked with Tina. She did a great job and I am pleased with the way that she cut and styled my hair. I had asked for a classic fade, with some texture up top, so I could comb it to the side. Tina delivered. Price (+1 Positive): The price was extremely reasonable. I paid $14 plus tip. Customer Experience (+1 Positive): Since they do such a good job, at such a reasonable price, there is constant traffic flowing through the shop. Nevertheless, I didn't feel like I had to wait long. And even when it was my turn, it didn't feel like Tina was rushing to get me out. While there are three barbers, there were only two on the day pertinent to this review. I love that both greeted me when I walked in. They continued to greet other customers as they walked in. Since it was the holidays at this time, several patrons had stopped by to drop off gifts for the barbers. This is a good sign. I will be returning here in the future. read more

Good fast haircut. Keep in mind, this is really close to a school so after 3pm, there might be a wait. I went after 3 and students were walking here from school or parents were bringing their kids. The wait wasn't bad but after me, the wait was getting longer. With that in mind, the haircut was to the point and I liked it. There isn't the same attention to detail I am used to, but nonetheless, it's a good haircut. I'll be back. read more

Super friendly and fast! Mostly known for their military cuts. Do a much better job than any chain hair cut joint and for about $5 less. Stella is awesome! Always asks how I'm doing and such. Only been here 3 times and she already knows my name :-) My hair, what little is left is pretty easy to cut so am in and out in under 10 min! Parking is a breeze. Place is in a strip mall that's never that busy. It's a little hidden though. Might see it if going east on Sierra Madre. Oh if you want your ears trimmed just ask ;-) read more

This is the best barber shop ever! When I was a little boy, my grandfather took me here on a monthly basis. During that time period I did not appreciate getting my haircut. Now to this day, I always want to go here whenever I get the chance. The barbers take pride in what they do. They cut customers hair with extreme precision, they entertain, and always have a smile on their faces. read more

Always a good hair cut. My husband and son both go here and they both look spiffy when they are done. The girls who cut hair take their time despite the fact that many are waiting. They do a great job. If you aren't satisfied, just walk back in and they will fix it for no charge. read more

Best place in town! Never a wait and full of experience. Love this place and that's why I haven't been anywhere else in 2 years!

I've never had a regular place to get my haircut until I started going to Modern Barber. They always do such an amazing job --especially Tina! They are truly skilled and I've never left unsatisfied. Kim and Stella are also very very talented, but Tina is absolutely my go-to. Regardless, between the three of them whoever cuts your hair will do a great job. read more

Modern Barber is finally open! Felt great to get a real haircut after surviving on COVID haircuts for the past few months. The ladies haven't lost their touch at all during the pandemic hiatus, and I've already received a lot of compliments on my haircut from yesterday. I've been coming her for about two years now, and what I really like about this place isn't so much the hair cuts, but the fact that they remember you. Every single time I go in they always let me know how they hadn't seen me for a while, you would think it's just something they tell all their customers, but it's not, they actually do remember you. They also don't do a bad job on the cuts and it's only $12 + tip for a hair cut. I think that's pretty cheap. read more
