Kristy was so easygoing and we chatted the entire time I was getting my hair cut. I showed her the length I was going for and had her go from there. In the end, I realized the length was shorter than what I wanted but I love it still. It was honestly one of the best experiences I've had at a salon.

The shop is located within Salon Republic at the Paseo Colorado. You can park in the structure and get your parking validated for up to 90 minutes for free. Gaspar has put in a lot of work into giving the shop a mafia/mob style aesthetic. The brick wall, bullet holes, pictures of the mob and vintage style barber chair is such an awesome touch! He's really doing his best to bring back the feel of an old-school barbershop. As far as the haircut goes, don't go in expecting a quick cut. You can really see Gaspar's attention to detail when I ask for a comb-over fade. He's personable and easy to chat with, so I don't feel like I'm just there for a haircut. One of my favorite things about getting a cut here is the hair-wash. Not only is it super relaxing, but it means I don't have to go and cleanup the little hairs. Gaspar also does beard and mustache trims, as well as a straight razor shave. 10/10 would recommend Gaspar to anyone looking for an affordable, quality cut.

So I've been on the hunt for a new barber for a while now but always was left unhappy with my cut they would always be uneven or just weird, until I met enzo. I first met him at his old barber shop and when I left I KNEW this was the guy, my girlfriend told me that it was the best hair cut I had in a while. When It was time for a new cut, I knew who to call. That's when i found about high stakes, I set an appointment and showed up a bit early but I didnt get the normal quiet, come in and wait for your hair cut I was warmly welcomed by enzo. During the hair cut I felt like I was hanging out with a friend getting a cut, he has a cool personality and let me tell you this man has talent! I have this cowlick and he sure knew how to tame it, left with a smile on my face and an excitement to do my hair. High stakes barber shop my number one recommendation from here on out. read more

Two other customers were already waiting, but they also said that I should go ahead. That alone could merit 5 stars - magnanimity from both professionals and their patrons is a rare thing these days. And then, Patrick was splendid: although I had never come to their shop before, he assessed the cut I wore and knew exactly how to tighten it up, but he regularly made sure that the lines he sharpened matched what I wanted. He was especially patient when I misquoted the length I wanted for my beard, and he didn't touch it until he was sure I was sure what was right. Between clippers, scissors, and straight razor, I got one of the most precise cuts of my life. Conversation was more than genial - I felt as if I had come to a large family gathering where there also happened to be haircuts. The place itself is spotless and full of warm tones; I could have spent three times as long in there and not noticed the time go by. I would award them six stars if I could.
