Mike's Barbershop in Mesa AZ has a variety of barbers, male and female, and all provide quality haircuts for old, young, and in-between. Nigel is my go to. He takes his time and is sure to make each haircut a good one. He is courteous and good with conversation. There is no reason for me to go anywhere else! read more

If you have a service dog forget about coming here. The guy will curse at you and does not know or speak enough English to understand what a service dog is. He will absolutely kick you out. And unless you like suing there is not much you can do but find someone eles to cut your hair. I absolutely do not like Mike or his attitude!!! read more

This barbershop is amazing!! First of all, he takes walk-ins which is very appreciated. Also, the atmosphere of the barber shop is lively and makes you feel at peace. I got a low fade comb over, and he came outta amazing! Thank you again for ur stylish Work!!! read more

Excellent haircut for a reasonable price. Mike is very polite and professional. The standards of cleanliness are high. I plan to go back again. read more

This is my 2nd time to this barber and I have to admit that this recent experience was underwhelming. Instead of a mid fade he went super high, spent no time blending the corners and absolutely butchered the top of my hair. I asked for nothing off the top except for some shaping and he basically took an inch of off everything and left an extra long poof behind my bangs. On top of that it was an egregious $24! I'm used to spending $10-15/cut from someone much more experienced. read more

Mike's Barber Shop - Super not impressed with the high fade (when I asked for a mid) and how messy the top was left... - Barbers Near Me - Pasadena, California

A bit on the upper range for simple guy's haircuts (23ish), but understandable since it's only Mike in the shop. Does a fantastic job on hair, and is quick (but thorough!) read more

He charged me $20 for a men's haircut. Total haircut time about 15-20 minutes. The haircut itself was decent. Mike definitely knows what he's doing. That's the highlight of my experience here. However, I think $20 is a little pricey for a man's cut. It's definitely not $12 or $14 as other reviewers have quoted. So that means Mike has raised his prices as much as 66% in one year. BTW the sign didn't even say $20, it said $18 and I never got an explanation I fully understood. I also didn't have much chemistry with Mike. We just didn't get along for whatever reason. I won't go into the details of our argument but I'll just say that I respect his ability and will pass on future service from him. read more

I cannot believe I just paid 25$ for the worst haircut in my life. Even after a previous bad experience, I give this guy the benefit of the doubt all for the sake of supporting a local business but it won't happen again, I would rather drive to a different city than go back to Mike's shop. read more

The BEST VALUE in Pasadena. I've tried many salons and barbershops around Pasadena and paid from $20-$70 for a mens haircut. I'm in my mid-fortys and like a semi-conservative cut with a bit of an edge. Mike open his shop in my neighborhood earlier this year and advertised a mens haircut for $10. Yes...that's $10 bucks. I like to support our local business so before vacation I decided to give Mike a try. I figured if the haircut was bad it would grow out while on vacation and I could have it fixed when I returned. Instead of the normal "what number clipper" do you want ie: #3 on the side and #4 on top. Mike asked what kind of "style" do I want. After a brief discussion he went to work. Clippers on the sides and finished with a comb on scissors on top blending my hair into a conservative "faux hawk". Not too edgy but just enough to make this 40-something feel a bit younger :) The best $10 bucks I've spent. My son and I are now regulars. Highly recommend. read more

This has been my choice of barbers since he first opened up shop. Great place, great barber, no fat lazy hairdressers who are always going on break, like you would find at supercuts, or what not. Call, make an appointment, go, get your hair cut, pay in cash. Bounce, come back in a month or so. Thanks Mike. read more

Stay Away!!! This guy does not know how to cut hair. He up-sells the hair wash by stating he can't cut hair that has pomade, and that it's part of the service, WHAT!? To make matters worse he then charges for it in the end with his gratuity included in his price. Example, buzz cut $19, shampoo $5.00 and his total is $27.00...crazy!!! Stay away from this horrible barber who has zero clue how to cut hair and zero clue how to add up the prices. read more

I can start getting my haircut every other week again!! Once the Supercuts in my neighborhood raised their prices to $17 a cut I knew it was time to start shopping around. I rolled past Mike's one day and decided to pop in. The experience was great. It's the longest haircut I've had in years. My cut is pretty basic but Mike was thorough and you could tell that he cared about giving me a great cut. He explained to me that $10 a cut doesn't really CUT IT (pun totally intended) as far as the bills go but it matters to him to build a loyal client base. If Mike raised his prices I would still go there because he listened to what I wanted and did just that. I had grown accustomed to going to Supercuts; telling them what I wanted, and having the stylist do whatever the hell they wanted which usually resulted in my hair being way too short or too thin or too SOMETHINGIDIDNTASKFOR. lol. On top of all that Mike's a good guy and I will continue to go to him for my cuts. Plus, it's always good to support local businesses, especially when they are deserving. WORD TO THE WISE: Bring cash and make an appointment if you're going to get your cut during a time that is typically busy at salons/barber shops because Mike's there cutting on his own and he takes his time. You'll be glad you went. read more

I've been coming here since he opened in 2012. I would see him consistently every three weeks. He would give a different cut every time but I thought it would be nice to support a guy whose just starting his own business. His cuts continued to be inconsistent but I kept coming back due to convenience because I lived around the corner. My work schedule changed and it became very difficult to see him so I had to just cut my hair with different people. That was annoying because I felt like I had to try the new people at least 4-5 times before they would get it right. Once in a while I would manage to come in due to getting off early. Then, I went for a long 3-4 month stretch where I couldn't come at all, until recently. I was so happy to be getting off early enough to make my appointment, but would soon find out it would turn into a nightmare. He acted very strange and upset, which made the 20 minutes there feel very uncomfortable. He definitely was not his usual pleasant self. He proceeded to give me the worst cut I have ever had in my life!!! I'm sorry, but if he was upset about something it was not very professional to treat someone like that. He should have just turned me away. read more

I have been there 3 times. The first two were good, and that is why I would come consistently. But this time the experience was really not good. I waited for about 15 minutes after my appointment time as he just started to cut another customer's hair when I arrived. And the result is also not good. I didn't realize it until I came back home, took a shower and blew my hair. The left and the right are not consistent or symmetric, and I think I have to wear a hat to hide this bad haircut. read more

It is really hard to find a barber who is good, fast, and cheap, but Mike is all three. If you know what you're looking for (1 on the sides, high fade, half inch off the top), it takes 20 minutes at most, which is great if you've got a packed day. I'm usually out of there in 15 minutes. $20 (including tip) isn't bad for a haircut. It's not the absolute lowest priced place, but I'm okay paying a few bucks extra for clean edges and even sides. Mike also has some great stories. Hilarious guy. read more

We all know how hard it is to find a good and reliable barber. A few months back, I was looking for a new barber after relocating to Pasadena. I searched everywhere and came across Mike. Mike has cut my hair maybe 2-3 times now and it has always been perfect. The price is reasonable, he takes his time, and he always cleans your neck. So far I haven't had any complaints with the results. Come here and check Mike out! You wont be disappointed. read more

BETTER than the $12 I was charged. I just relocated to Pasadena and was looking for someone I can count on for a monthly haircut. I'm glad I looked at yelp and trusted the reviews because this place lived up to expectations. My 40ish receding hairline doesn't require salon manscaping but it's easy to mangle with uneven "supercuts" from folks just out of cosmetology school that start pinging out after the first week. Mike's been cutting hair since 1994 and finally decided to open his own shop in the summer of 2013. He took the time to ask questions and during the cut, he made sure he was getting all the angles and edges around my bulbous noggin, using four different clippers and two different scissors. The resulting haircut was exactly what I asked him to do. Mike's not much for words but is a friendly conversationalist if you really want to gab. I highly recommend Mike's Barber Shop to men looking for a no-nonsense, affordable, accurate hair cut. I also highly recommend getting on an appointment cycle with him because business is really starting to kick in and he's probably going to be too busy to take folks on a walk-in basis in the near future as a result of all of his good word-of-mouth. read more

I went to this barber shop and I must say... Worst haircut I've ever had. I read most of the comments on here and people praised him for taking time on your hair and I must say, he spends most of the time cleaning his equipment than actually doing a good cut. I overpaid for a simple buzz cut and I have a lot of areas that were missed. He did take his time but in all honesty it's overpriced and if he can't do something as simple as a buzz cut I feel bad for the people that want something more complicated. He's an old man that doesn't want people in his shop waiting so don't bother trying to be a walk-in. If you read this Mr. "Mike" just go on retirement, you've lost your touch and it's ridiculous that I even tipped you only to find out when I got home that half my head had stragglers that you missed. Good luck everyone that doesn't listen to my warning. read more

I called in to see what time they were open till and asked if they had a wait. He had two people there so I said ok, thanks. Click. Hung up on me. I drive there and arrive at the same time as someone else. Other dude does not have an appointment, and neither did I. He tells the other guy to wait and asks if I have an appointment and he says "I cannot do it." uh ok. It's 40 min before closing time. No apology or explanation. Suffice to say, I won't go back there. read more

Been going to Mike's for about 4 months now and I have no complaints. I get the same quality haircut here I used to spend 40 for at half the price. My current favorite barber, Mike takes the time and effort to give you a good cut and listens to what you want. A lot of my previous barbers are very inconsistent with their fades and tapers, or attempt to try new styles because they "think" it looks good on you, but Mike stays consistent no matter what. I always try to stop by Pasadena when I need a lineup even though it's out of the way for me, and it's worth the trip every time. The place is cash only $20 + tip. If you were like me trying to find a consistent go to barber, get your hair cut here. Also make sure you call ahead and book an appointment because people are catching on, and he always make sure he carves out a 30 minute block for every customer. read more

Excellent job on the high and tight. Just walk in, tell em what you want, get your hair cut, pay and leave. If you're looking for small talk, or for something to drown out the awkward silence, you won't find it here. Do not go to this barber shop if you actually want to get your hair cut. I am writing this on behalf of my husband because this type of lack of consideration is inexcusable. As working parents, personal maintenance is a luxury. When he made an appointment for Saturday afternoon he expected his barber to be there but after a half hour of waiting the barber never showed up. This has actually l happened twice and there was also another person waiting there for double booked appointment for 1pm. Now my husband has made an appointment elsewhere for a haircut taking away more time from productive matters and family time. The first time the barber didn't show up my husband had hoped it was a one time excusable matter but a second no-show makes it a pattern... Seriously, Who does that?!?! read more

This place is absolutely terrible I have scheduled appointments on weekends multiple times and twice he is not even shown up to the shop. Also both times there were other people waiting outside for his place to open who had earlier appointments than me, so he obviously booked appointments then didn't even show up to honor them. On previous haircuts I've gotten they've been okay but he also charges $26 which is a little absurd for a very basic barber shop. I'll never return and I'll tell every person I know not to go here. read more

I found Mike after moving back into the neighborhood just recently by accident as I was stopping by a nearby liquor store. I had been looking for a replacement barber right about that time since mine was moving back east. Mike is a professional, experienced and proficient hair barber who is respectful of his client's space (especially when it comes to chat). His work caters to your needs and style desire(s). He is very easy to talk to and VERY dedicated to making sure you are happy with your cut! I got lucky again when I decided to become a new regular and besides, I felt his price$ were more than reasonable for that kind of good work. As a side note: His shop is clean, simple and complete with WiFi. He gladly accepts walk-ins although he mentioned it would be easier on "the customer" to call even minutes before just so they wouldn't have to wait. GOOD IDEA! Nice to have a guy's barber in our nice neighborhood to go to. "Thanks, Mike" read more

Great value. Mike is an awesome guy. Very nice and takes his time with your hair. Totally willing to support this business again and keep coming back. Went in for a simple head shave and I got in and out of there rather quickly. A bit too quickly it turns out. When I got home and rinsed my head off I saw a lot that was missed. Luckily I have my own clippers so that I could clean it up myself (I usually expect to have to do a little, but this was too much). I liked the guy so I was upset by the outcome. read more

Decided to give Mike a try on a simple routine head shave (4 on the top and low zero taper fade) and Mike spoke with confidence that he'd execute an awesome fade. As a new customer i began asking questions about how long his shop's been here, how long he's been in the business, etc etc. He got offended and asked me "is this an interview"? Didn't realize he didn't like me asking questions so i stayed quiet for the rest of my cut. After he showed me the mirror, i quickly told him "this is not a fade" -- every customer's worst nightmare situation and the words we should never have to tell a hair professional. Mike was flustered, tried to fix it and then i saw him making it worse so we stopped. The good thing about this encounter is that he told me to leave freely without paying if i wasn't satisfied. I admire his business ethic and applaud him for that. I'm sure he's a great hair stylist but i'm probably never going back again for a fade. 2 stars for good business ethic. read more
