I have had repairs in the past done by Modern Auto Body and their work has always been excellent, fairly priced and they have been very pleasant to work with. I went in there today for an estimate for some scratches on my car due to a tour bus clipping me in the rear of my car as it attempted to enter my lane. The technician told me that the scratches were superficial enough that he thought he could get them off with some spray and buffing and he did! Perfectly. And refused to charge me. Professionalism, kindness and courtesy still exist in this world. I recommend them and their work unqualifiedly!! Leslie K, Maplewood, NJ read more

Stay away from this place. Had to take.my car to another body shop to make adjustments from their repair. They do not pay attention to details. Did a horrible job! read more

Fixed my car after an accident. Work was awesome and Anthony is great. They even cleaned up my car a bit (kid car) an buffed up the other headlight so they would match free of charge. I was very happy with the service!!! Try them out! read more

Unfortunately while our car was parked, someone hit it. Thankfully the person left a note with contact information and we were able to go through insurance. They participate in the Geico express program and decided we should go in for at least an estimate. We were a little nervous since we never went here before (and didn't get a referral from someone we knew). The entire door needed to replaced and painted. The person working there explained the whole process. We received the estimate and we felt so at ease here we decided to get the work done here as well. They did such a great job and kept us up to date by adding photos (through Geico) while it was in progress. We also were able to get the rental car and once we picked up the car, just leave the rental car there. We were so thrilled with the paint job- they would have never known the door was new. Just as an FYI- the car is a bright cobalt blue (pretty distinct color) and it matches perfectly. The car was also throughly cleaned when we picked it up just another bonus. Would definitely recommend this body shop! Everyone we interacted with there was very nice & helpful! read more

I just wanted to Thank all the employees at Modern Autobody. From the first moment I walked in the door, your customer service was above and beyond. All my questions were answered, since this was my first time at Modern Auto Body. I definitely will inform my dealership (Hilltop Nissan) in East Hanover, about your shop, and I will be recommending Modern Auto Body to anyone that needs any work done on their car. They sent real time updates without asking, and they informed me when my car would be ready. It was ready one day earlier. Once again, thank you for your professionalism. Have a happy and healthy new year to all employees and their families. read more

I was a hit and run victim in December 2021. Came back to the Bay Street train station in Montclair after work one night and some idiot driver had completely tore off the front fender of my car, and crushed part of the radiator when carelessly pulling out from the adjacent parking space (causing all coolant to leak out - car wouldn't hold coolant and thus was undriveable). For context, my car is a 2018 Audi S5. I looked around at local repair shops and chose Modern Auto Body in South Orange. My experience was very positive--Modern was extremely professional, worked with the at-fault party's insurance adjuster seamlessly to get the repair done at no cost to me, kept me well informed on status via text messages and also voicemails. It ended up taking a bit less than 4 weeks to fix due to parts delays (normal in the current economic environment, as the front fender of my car is not a commonly available part and is loaded with sensors for park distance, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision prevention). When I got the car back, it looked absolutely flawless - paint color was perfect, etc. Looked better than the day I bought it. Even more important, the sensor and radiator repairs appear to have been done correctly. I just took the car on a 500 mile road trip this weekend and everything was in perfect working order. Strongly recommend Modern. read more

Ok, so I wasn't expecting to write another review for this place so soon, but the guy that rear ended me last month had other plans. Once again, Modern did a great job! With them being in the network of the other driver's insurance made the claim process very easy. Basically I just went there for an estimate and everything else happened behind the scenes. Communications were great once again and the job was perfect and done within estimated time (after they wrangled an additional part from BMW). I would definitely recommend this place and would go there again, but hopefully not for a while this time! read more

We could not be more thrilled with our experience at Modern Auto Body. Our VW station wagon was side-swiped by a garbage truck, leaving it with a massively dented passenger door. Geico suggested this body shop when we filed our claim, since the body shop participates in their Geico express program. We were at first reluctant to go with a body shop not personally recommended by a local, but read the reviews and decided to give it a go. We are SO GLAD we took our car here for repairs. From the moment we arrived at the shop, the experience was perfect. They've set up a great system in the Covid age for safely dealing with customers, especially for those using the Geico estimate process. Anthony clearly walked me through the process. He explained the work that would need to be done, arranged for us to get a rental car delivered to the shop, and remained in touch with us throughout the days that followed so that we knew the progress of the job. I was in and out of the shop that first day within a half hour, driving away in a sparkling rental car and feeling confident our car was in good hands. Then the payoff: When work was completed, our car came back looking stunning. The paint job is spectacular and you would never guess that the entire door had been replaced. They also installed new tires and did a wheel alignment because they caught some wear and tear we didn't know about. Anthony was kind, friendly, communicative, and a true professional. So was everyone else we encountered there. We couldn't be more pleased with the experience or our good-as-new VW. read more

Awful customer service. I was the only customer waiting in this place and was told the gentlemen would be right with me once off the phone to help with my auto body estimate. After completing his call I waited an additional 15 minutes, being completely ignored while the staff enjoyed their morning brew and chit chat. I was so turned off I decided to leave without any notice. They don't deserve my business with that kind of professionalism. read more

Exceptional work. The staff made the process so easy. I dropped off my car, got a rental and was on my way quickly. The staff explained the work to be done and how they would send text messages to keep me in the loop. The repairs were completed early and the quality was great. I would 100% come back if I ever need body work again. read more

It was difficult to locate a body shop that had the capacity to repair my truck in a reasonable time during COVID-19. I searched extensively and was lucky to find Modern Auto Body. Anthony was able to give me an immediate appointment and provided me with the expected time of completion. I really appreciated receiving the daily updates via text and especially the phone calls from the owner, Jack, keeping me apprised of the status of the repair of my 2015 Ram 1500. As a Marine, I would like to state that my vehicle was repaired and returned to me in "IG" condition in less than two weeks! 5+ stars, hands down!! OO-RAH!!! read more

They repaired our car in the quoted timeframe, at the quoted price, and everything looks as good as new. They fell right in the middle of the price range of the quotes we got from a number of area autobody shops, and couldn't be more convenient for Maplewood-South Orange folks. They've an arrangement with the Enterprise car rental location in Millburn, and will arrange for a representative to drive you over to that location if you need a rental. They even called and left messages with updates on the status of my car's repair! All in all, a pleasant experience. read more

Jack and his team were easy to deal with, fast, and professional. No excuses, no hard sell for extras. Would 100% use again.

I noticed some minor items was missing out of my car after, I picking it up from the auto shop after it was painted. No biggie until I reached for my Chanel sunglasses and they weren't in the place that I always have them. After coming home and pulling my house apart, and them now where to be found. I talked to the own who wanted to tell me that everyone has worked there for over 19 years and they don't take things. Not to mention that my car had to be repaired a third time do to the paint flaking and chipping off after a year. And the paint on the bumper being 2 shades darker. Smh. Nothing more than a horrible job read more

We needed to take our Lexus SUV in for minor body work. The Modern Auto Body group was fair, upfront, and highly transparent. The work was excellent. Highly recommend. read more

A volume body shop in S.O. that mostly does insurance repair work. The shop is tidy and they have a system and will get done in time. I've used it twice and not been happy with the work - and pretty much got the shoulder shrug. If you are particular about body work, this is probably not the place for you. read more

If you have to go to an auto body shop (hopefully not), I highly recommend Modern Auto Body. Friendly, efficient, and fast.

They definitely take care of their customers. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Went out of their way to call Enterprise for me. Have a great system where they give you updates via text. Added a nice little touch by throwing in a car keychain on your keys when you leave. Highly recommend. read more
