I've been getting my hair cut at Modelcuts in Studio City for over 20 years. I walked in, conveniently, and took whoever was available to cut my hair. I always left satisfied. I finally had a chance to sit in Felipe's chair. I have to say, I won't let anyone else touch my hair now. He listens to me and gives me exactly what I want. Trying to keep my hair long, it's hard not to chop off too much of the damage, but Felipe cuts it in a way that it remains long, full and healthy, and all the dead ends are gone. I, now, make an appointment, so I don't miss him. I recommend Modelcuts to anyone nearby. It's a clean studio in a great part of town on Ventura Boulevard and has recently been updated. Absolutely love the service here. Hair stylist Nicole and her mom Vicky are the absolute sweetest. They are always making sure that their clients are well taken care of and they do amazing work too. My whole service when by so quickly, time really flew by and before I knew it I was already done. I have super thick hair and lots of it and they were super gentle. They made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend giving this salon your service. He listened to what I had to say (I.e. layering, length, etc.), and cut my hair accordingly while incorporating some of his creativity into the cut. On here it says that they are "walk-in welcome" and so I go in and seeing that its completely empty I thought the guy would take me in. I'm super picky with where I go and who I let do my hair but Vicky and Nicole are absolutely fantastic at what they do. I love my hair every time and they do it just the way I like it. I feel like I'm getting pampered every time I'm there. The environment is amazing, extremely clean. Especially during these difficult covid times, they are following the CDC guidelines in an outstanding way by making sure to disinfect and clean everything thoroughly, social distancing and more. DISGUSTING SERVICE!!!! DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a DUMP!!!!! The lady at the front with black hair (Mayra??) and the other older male guy (James) left me completely traumatized with the way they treated me. First off, I walked through the door because I saw a sign that said $10 haircuts (I'm not super fancy when it comes to haircuts, so I was game). The "$10" turns out to be just for men and it's $18 for women. She was completely RUDE the second I sat down in her chair and said "oh so you want to be cheap about a haircut?" After I proceeded to ask her why the place said $10 when it's really not (I really didn't care but it's false advertisement, so I felt like I needed to call her out). I felt so uncomfortable with the way she was using a tone with me and questioning me (the customer). She didn't make me feel at ease and didn't care to see the photo I brought her. Instead, she put the cover up on top of my jacket, which she knew I wanted to take off and tied the white string on my neck completely too tight. She later tells me that she could indeed charge me the $10 but then wouldn't section off my hair, instead cut straight across. Which then I asked her, "but wouldn't that make my hair uneven?" She rolled her eyes at me and called me cheap and that she didn't like the questions I was asking and that she didn't need people questioning her. She laughed in my face and started calling me names while looking at her other co worker. I got up so disgusted that she didn't even begin to start cutting my hair. Her energy is AWFUL and she treats her customers like complete trash. Making fun of someone's socioeconomic status and whether or not they can afford a $10 haircut is completely dehumanizing and disgusting. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!! THE PEOPLE ARE TRASH. read more

I can't believe how amazing this place is. At first I was skeptical-a place that is cheaper than a run of the mill chain like Supercuts? Are the people who work there any good? I wanted a major makeover including a dramatic new, shorter hair style with highlights, all over color, and blown out. I would never dare go to a cheap chain like Supercuts due to bad past experiences with even some things as simple as a bang trim; no way I am trusting a total new do to them. I gave it a try. We are talking highlight bleaching, all over color, wash, cut, blow dry style. Average cost at most salons? At LEAST $150-200. Minimum. My total cost for all of those services? $95. Holy shit. And I am in LOVE with it. Susan was amazing and was so patient with working with me and communicating on what I wanted. I am definitely coming back here as a regular. Unbelievable to expect a client to pay and leave the salon with a haircut that looks as if it was done by a five year old (see photo). The best mom and pop shop - style salon in the studio city area! I've come here for four years and no place can beat their prices and friendly staff. My hair grows extremely fast and I get it cut often but I couldn't afford 40 bucks for a trim ( normal prices at most salons). For $10.00 a mens cut you can't go wrong.
