I discovered model cuts, and Nicole through TikTok and quickly booked a haircut with her. She was really sweet and took her time going over what I wanted and she delivered exactly that. I wanted to keep the length and revive the layers in my hair and I love the results. Thank you, Nicole!

Nicole!!! She is incredibly talented and so knowledgeable about hair. From start to finish, she walked me through the entire process and made me feel completely at ease. I've been searching for someone who could truly nail a warm, dimensional chocolate brown--and no one got it right until Nicole! I left feeling the most confident and pretty I have in months and with the best haircut and color I've ever had. She was so easy to talk to--it felt like I'd known her for years! I usually wait until I'm in Phoenix to get my hair done, but now I know I've found my go-to girl here. I truly feel like I made a new friend. You ATE girl!! The man who helped me here was friendly and fit me in as a walk-in. He worked quickly, but when he was done with the haircut it looked jagged. I pointed this out and was assured it was not. I went home to sleep on it and look again, but now I'm sure that I was right and it wasn't a good haircut. I will have to get it redone elsewhere

Absolutely love the service here. Hair stylist Nicole and her mom Vicky are the absolute sweetest. They are always making sure that their clients are well taken care of and they do amazing work too. My whole service when by so quickly, time really flew by and before I knew it I was already done. I have super thick hair and lots of it and they were super gentle. They made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend giving this salon your service. It's so hard to find good hairdressers now a days but they are truly the best. read more

I found out about Nicole through a cashier at Costco. I really liked the way Nicole blended in her blonde highlights and her hair looked very long and healthy. I made my appointment with Nicole to get blonde highlights and I have been going to Model Cuts for about a year now. I like the way Nicole takes her time explaining the process and she really cares about maintaining my healthy hair. My coworkers and friends always ask who does my hair. I am a mother of 2 toddlers and don't have a lot of time to do things on my own. I hadn't had a haircut in 2 years and chose Modelcuts as it is walking distance from my apartment. Philippe had me in and out of there quickly and cut my hair better than I expected. He listened to what I had to say (I.e. layering, length, etc.), and cut my hair accordingly while incorporating some of his creativity into the cut. I'm just super confused that I went today in the first hour that they opened and it was completely empty. On here it says that they are "walk-in welcome" and so I go in and seeing that its completely empty I thought the guy would take me in. I asked if he can take me in for a quick haircut and he just takes a glance of his paper and says he has nothing for today. I walked out confused cause it was so empty and no one was currently entering. I think this place is just by appointments and should take off they they are "walk-in welcomed" on here and on there door. read more

5 stars! If i could add more stars, I would. Modelcuts has been my goto for years now. I'm super picky with where I go and who I let do my hair but Vicky and Nicole are absolutely fantastic at what they do. I love my hair every time and they do it just the way I like it. I feel like I'm getting pampered every time I'm there. The environment is amazing, extremely clean. Especially during these difficult covid times, they are following the CDC guidelines in an outstanding way by making sure to disinfect and clean everything thoroughly, social distancing and more. DISGUSTING SERVICE!!!! DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a DUMP!!!!! The lady at the front with black hair (Mayra??) and the other older male guy (James) left me completely traumatized with the way they treated me. First off, I walked through the door because I saw a sign that said $10 haircuts (I'm not super fancy when it comes to haircuts, so I was game). The "$10" turns out to be just for men and it's $18 for women. She was completely RUDE the second I sat down in her chair and said "oh so you want to be cheap about a haircut?" After I proceeded to ask her why the place said $10 when it's really not (I really didn't care but it's false advertisement, so I felt like I needed to call her out). I felt so uncomfortable with the way she was using a tone with me and questioning me (the customer). She didn't make me feel at ease and didn't care to see the photo I brought her. Instead, she put the cover up on top of my jacket, which she knew I wanted to take off and tied the white string on my neck completely too tight. She later tells me that she could indeed charge me the $10 but then wouldn't section off my hair, instead cut straight across. Which then I asked her, "but wouldn't that make my hair uneven?" She rolled her eyes at me and called me cheap and that she didn't like the questions I was asking and that she didn't need people questioning her. She laughed in my face and started calling me names while looking at her other co worker. I got up so disgusted that she didn't even begin to start cutting my hair. Her energy is AWFUL and she treats her customers like complete trash. Making fun of someone's socioeconomic status and whether or not they can afford a $10 haircut is completely dehumanizing and disgusting. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!! THE PEOPLE ARE TRASH. read more

I can't believe how amazing this place is. At first I was skeptical-a place that is cheaper than a run of the mill chain like Supercuts? Are the people who work there any good? I wanted a major makeover including a dramatic new, shorter hair style with highlights, all over color, and blown out. I would never dare go to a cheap chain like Supercuts due to bad past experiences with even some things as simple as a bang trim; no way I am trusting a total new do to them. I gave it a try. We are talking highlight bleaching, all over color, wash, cut, blow dry style. Average cost at most salons? At LEAST $150-200. Minimum. My total cost for all of those services? $95. Holy shit. And I am in LOVE with it. Susan was amazing and was so patient with working with me and communicating on what I wanted. I am definitely coming back here as a regular. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

Hidden Gem! This place absolutely stunned me out of nowhere since I wasn't even planning to get a haircut. I walked by going to the metro and ran into a sign that said "Haircuts"! So I was like, why not? I gave it a try and Nicole welcomed me like it was home. Awesome customer service and a man named Felipe cut my hair, and it turned out to be one of the best! Seriously! Modelcuts is great. I thought they were cheap at $13, but they have lowered their prices to $10 for men's cuts. JeanCarla cuts my hair great and has a good personality. She can run a bit late if you are trying to get there first thing in the AM like I do. Also, they take credit cards, but there is a $2 fee. read more

Was shocked to see the haircut that the man who has been with Modelcuts for "30 years" gave my friend recently. Unbelievable to expect a client to pay and leave the salon with a haircut that looks as if it was done by a five year old (see photo). Didn't give my friend a hand mirror to see the very noticeable 1" longer length at the back left side, and the overall cut was sloppy and choppy all over! "Never going there again!". read more

For men they are ok and better than the chains, especially the male barber he is the best. For women I won't take anyone there again. Way to rushed and quick, 10 minutes or less, no style. Guess it reflects the low price, but options would be nice. read more

I've been going to Model Cuts for 20-years at the Reseda location. Today I went to their Studio City location, to meet with Vicky and Nicole. Turning 60 I wanted to dye my hair with the hair cut. After the cut, was the simple dye, but then I decided while sitting there that I wanted a different style shorter younger style. Vicky was super happy to switch it up and took an extra 30 minutes to make it perfect. Love Model Cuts. read more

The best mom and pop shop - style salon in the studio city area! I've come here for four years and no place can beat their prices and friendly staff. My hair grows extremely fast and I get it cut often but I couldn't afford 40 bucks for a trim ( normal prices at most salons). For $10.00 a mens cut you can't go wrong. She told them they had to leave because her stylists had to feed their families and it was causing a disruption. What does that even mean? I can't imagine a person with an appointment walking by, seeing an upset 2yo, and then thinking "oh well, I better cancel my appointment because there is a kid crying outside." Parents deserve compassion and help, not shame when a kid is having a tough time. As they were trying to leave, she even went so far as to call security. It was insane. I hope anyone who is looking for a new salon chooses a place that supports and lifts up families, not who makes them feel unwelcome and like they're an inconvenience.

While they were outside, I witnessed a woman, who I was later told is the salon manager, Marisa confront these parents in an incredibly inappropriate manner. She made them feel humiliated, and treated them as if they were doing something wrong simply for comforting their upset child. She even went as far as calling security, claiming they were being disruptive because their child was crying. As a bystander, I was honestly disgusted. Watching someone speak to parents this way, especially when they were calmly trying to support their child, was deeply upsetting. Children have difficult moments, they don't always know how to regulate their emotions, and that's exactly when they need patience and compassion, not hostility. I cannot understand how anyone, especially someone in a position of responsibility, could behave in such a cold and unacceptable way toward a family in that situation. To the salon manager, just do better.

I've been going to this Model Cuts forever and a day, really. I was first introduced to it by a friend of mine back in, gee, can't remember for sure, 2003-2004 and haven't stopped going since. The prices are super affordable, $12.99/hair cut and for ladies $20. They do all the services a regular salon does: color, conditioning treatments, perms, highlights, waxing, etc. Since the salon's pretty, pretty close to Universal-NBC and dozens of production and post-companies, you'd be on the floor if I told you that I've seen some movie stars, TV & Radio personalities walk-in in complete and absolute anonimity to get their hair done. It's not only the low price the stars and us common folks are attracted to: it's the service and the feeling that we're getting a greal deal that would cost us twice as much anywhere else. All the hairdressers are bilingual in English-Spanish and sometimes you may find it that you're not being understood, but you are. So, take out those dusty old Spanish handbooks from middle school & high school and get you rusty bums to this great hair cutting joint and save some mulah while you're at it. I popped in here for a $10 haircut one day, and haven't looked back... been getting my hair cut by Susanna for over a year now. Bar none, the best barber I've ever had. And again, the haircuts are ONLY $10 before tip... I've had $100 haircuts that weren't as good as what I get here every two weeks. No clue how such high quality work is so affordable, but I'm sure not complaining. I've also had my hair cut by two of the other women who work at Model Cuts, and they both did great jobs too. Cheap, fast and clean.. what more could you ask for? JeanCarla does my hair every time I go there but when she's not around (on Tuesdays), Edith takes over. People are surprised when I tell them I pay 13 bucks for a haircut in Studio City... especially since it doesn't look like a 13 dollar haircut. The cuts are clean and the service is great. I took my coworkers there last month and they loved it. We're all hooked... how they manage to get away with charging so cheap, I don't know... but I'm not complaining. read more

Ladies with long hair....listen up! I have very long hair and most times I find that stylist have a hard time achieving what I want, this in turn makes me scared to have my hair cut. But today.... Modelcuts is my old standby for a good haircut at an excellent price. I live near Studio City and can't really think of another place in the area that does such a good job for so little money. The wait ususally isn't very long and the staff makes it a pleasant experience. I went to Supercuts once nearby in stead and that was a complete mistake. The best place in St. City, Sh. Oaks, and the east valley, maybe even the entire valley. The girls are all fantastic; Veronica, Susan, Frances and Myra, all very good. For a guy, I'm out in 10 minutes, and they are the best cuts I've ever had. And it's $10! That way you can leave a nice tip, and still only pay $20 or less. Have been coming to Model Cuts for like 10 years. I maybe got ONE mediocre haircut five years ago out of like a HUNDRED good ones. You're in and out fast. You can't beat the price. $10 for a haircut!
