Had my appointment with Brittney. I would follow her anywhere... she's the only hair dresser for me. That said, I've had her cut in color my hair in 2 different nearby salons & Darling Nikki's is definitely my favorite. Prince, Queen & David Bowie all watch from the walls as your hair dreams come true. The salon is neat, stylish & more than a little Rock & roll. Brittney did an all over bleach taking my dark brown hair to a light blonde without damage. She was constantly checking my comfort as the bleach was on my scalp & asking if I needed a drink or a break. After that she gave me the most gorgeous color, melting 3 different tones to give me a pastel pink & rose gold color melt that was exactly what I wanted. If pastel pink hair was a natural hair color it would probably look something like she created for me! I feel like a rock star, magical unicorn, & flamingo sex bomb all in one! I couldn't be happier with my new hair & my experience with Brittney at Darling Nikki's! read more

I just got home from my appointment at Darling Nikki's. My appointment was with Kayla. I was referred here by a friend of mine who also has great color and I'm always impressed. So decided to make an appointment (after a year). A little background; I have been going to the same hair person for over 25 years. I've wanted vibrant color and she always told me it was impossible and I just accepted it. My colors never have dimension and I've hated my hair for years. Last year she gave me a Cut that I absolutely loved but the next time I needed a cut, she couldn't duplicate it and ended up butchering my hair. This was a year ago. Since then I've only allowed her color and to trim my bangs. Last Sunday she did my eyebrows and I asked if she could trim my bangs and she said she had no time (even though her next appointment wasn't there yet). I made a choice to make a change. I contacted Darling Nikki's. An appointment was set for today at 11:15am and when I tell you the last 4 days were brutally long waiting for today to come, I wouldn't be lying. I got there a few minutes early and was greeted by a great receptionist who told Kayla I was there. I sat down in her chair and we started chatting. I told her all of the above (and then some) and while she listened she was evaluating my hair. I told her where I want to go color wise and she explained the process. I get that we can't take me from a totally dark color to light in one day and agreed with her course of progress. We begin. First we strip. Next we color. Last came the cut and dry. I am very nearly in tears. My hair is the purple I have always dreamed of having and it feels awesome (not dried out). The cut is great too ! This salon absolutely ROCKS in regard to listening to their clients and delivering. I am "home" Personally; Kayla THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to once again look in a mirror and not hate my hair. You and I are looking at a beautiful future together Step 1 done edit: 1 week in the books with new hair color. I have washed it and when I did, I thought there would be a ton of color in the tub. Nope, hardly any. Now, I did wash and rinse with cooler water and when you have color like this it's necessary. The other thing I noticed is that not a lot of hair is in my brush. The cut is fantastic and I am so excited for my next 2 appointments (which I have already made). Again, I am so happy with my hair now and haven't been hiding it in a ponytail anymore :) read more

Thank you for making me feel beautiful and helping me out with my extensions. They were on time and ready to go, it was such a stress free experience. Just got home from my appointment at Darling Nikki's Salon. My hair stylist was Amber Payfrom, from the beginning she was very nice and catered to my needs. She was very welcoming and understood my vision. The first thing she did was bleach my hair, in order to allow for the color I requested to hold and look good. Might I say, I've had other people bleach my hair in the past and they've all left me with burnt marks (around my hairline) - but not Amber. She was on top everything and made sure to constantly check on the progress of it. Second, as we waited for my hair to bleach; Amber went ahead and worked on multiple shades of green (which was the color I had in mind) and brought them out to me so I could chose. I ended up picking a color that turned out to be WAY TOO BRIGHT. Amber was so accommodating and then went ahead to work on a bit darker version of the color, which she then applied. [Again, sorry Amber for having you work double, but THANKYOU because the outcome is just what I wanted]. I will definitely be returning AND recommending Amber. ALSO, quick shout out to the owner of the salon, Ashley for setting up this appointment very last minute. I'm glad we were able to make it happen! read more

I have been going to Ashley for many years. After a much needed haircut from the quarantine, I was so happy to finally go to Darling Nikki's. Every other station is blocked and not being utilized to provide safe distance between customers. The staff wore masks and would clean the stations between appointments. My hair was not blow dried, but that's ok since it's been so warm...my hair air dried on the way home. I am so happy with my haircut! read more

I see the business owner's response and am okay with the fact that stylists set their own price, but the owner still insists I got a haircut when all I got (and all I asked for) was a basic trim. Just want to clarify for readers. UPDATE: I think the response to this review is now bordering on hostile. I didn't call anyone a liar anywhere in my review, there was clearly a misunderstanding here - I tried to get clarity on pricing over the phone and couldn't get that. My intention with posting isn't to disparage the salon, just to let others know that it's not clear or upfront how much a service costs. Like the owner mentioned, I ultimately did pay the price requested with tip. I don't appreciate the hostility/accusations or the message to my yelp inbox urging me to read this rebuttal. This was my experience, and perhaps I should have been more aggressive in my initial ask about pricing. At other salons I've been to, a trim costs less than a haircut. I thought this would be the case here as well. I think Amber was great, so again, absolutely nothing bad to say about the haircut except that if I knew I was going to pay for a full haircut, I would've gone somewhere where trim=haircut isn't the case. I wanted to try this place as it comes highly recommended from a coworker. All of that said, the responses to this review have been a bit much and I guess I know now I'm not welcome back. read more

Marisa is the best stylist for redheads hands down! I have followed her through 3 salons over 15+ years (yes, she's that amazing!) and will continue to do so as long as we are both in LA! She has taken great attention and detail to maintain a very vibrant, gorgeous red that results in ongoing comments weekly. She understands how sensitive I am to the length, style and hue and continues to take care of all my needs from root to tip. I have recommended her to countless fans of my mane and she has additional regulars as a result. If you want the best red coloring... or actually ANYTHING amazing done with your hair, Marisa is the master stylist for you! She truly satisfies every personality and hair type! read more

Let's start with the ambiance...fun, badass, friendly and clean. The salon screams Purple Rain! I look forward to each appointment as I help myself to a cup of coffee from the mini coffee station & take in the lovely aroma of candles burning and the fresh shampoo. The eclectic playlists totally sets the vibe and compliments the posters and artwork on the walls. I have wavy dark hair and love that my haircuts always result in a cool, edgy, stylish bob when I go shorter. I don't end up looking like Dora the Explora. My stylist, Kayla understands my hair. She's always on point when it comes down to color, texture, cut and overall look. Now that I'm letting my hair grow for the first time in years, I get my trims and touch up my roots regularly. I always leave feeling a pampered. Every now and then when my sons (9&12yrs) need a haircut to bring out that inner rockstar, I bring them to Darling Nikki's. U got the look and you don't even know it sometimes till you have that Darling Nikki's experience. read more

I've been following Marisa around for many years now to be my stylist and I won't let anybody else touch my locks. NO ONE. She's absolutely awesome and talented when it comes to all things to do with hair. She's cut, styled and colored my hair in so many ways to get me out of my mommy hair funk and for that I love her. She's a colorist MASTER, a great listener and actually does what you ask her to. Plus, she has great suggestions for new looks. I now bring my teenage daughter to her who simply adores her and now also wants no one else to touch her hair. I guess, like mother, like daughter. Thank you, Marisa for being so freaking RAD. Okay, I totally forgot to tell you about the salon. It's a really nice one. Super clean, modern and everyone is nice. And I really love this this hair care line they are carrying now since they've dropped Bumble & Bumble. So go on and make your appointment now. You will love it there. read more

I was in search of a stylist who could make me platinum blonde, so when I called Darkling Nikki's I was set up with Amber P. I was nervous because I've never done anything drastic with my hair, but Amber walked me through each step and made me comfortable. She did a STELLAR job with my hair, and it came out a flawless platinum blonde color. Not only is the color gorgeous, but my hair is soft and moisturized. I expected the bleach to dry out my hair, but the type of products Amber used plus her coloring technique resulted in my hair coming out healthier than I've ever felt. Amber exceeded my expectations and I recommend her to everyone. The salon is also very clean and friendly. Everyone there is willing to help you out with products or answer any questions. Highly recommend Darling Nikki's! read more

Ashley did an amazing job on my husband's hair. For the longest time, I've been trying to convince him to go to a reputable salon to get his haircut. Finally after a series of disappointed haircut after haircut, he finally decided to take my advice and get his haircut. My husband got a messy spikey hair cut, and for the first time in the history of him getting haircuts since he's been home, he walks away a happy customer. Ashley followed directions well on what he wanted done for his hair, and she was also very helpful giving him tips on best ways to style his hair. I am so happy that his hair came out really nice, and I know he will be going back there again. read more

I just got my haircut from Rosie and she's absolutely amazing. I've been coming to her for over 3 years now and she always does exceptional job with my hair. I just tell her what I want and she makes it happen. What I love about her the most is that she always listens to my opinion and uses her expertise to get me fabulous hair. I'm very picky when it comes to hair but Rosie doesn't leave any room for complains. She's very sweet no matter how much hard time I give her during hair cut with all my demands. There are very few expert hairstylist who will listen to all your demands and make it a reality. I've gone to many hairstylists but I always come back to Rosie truly because of her knowledge and expertise in excellent haircut. Along with wet cut, she also makes sure my hair looks perfect after she blow dries it. She continues cutting my hair after drying it to bring perfection. She's a gem to any hair salon and I had to share it with my fellow yelpers. So ladies if any of you want to look fabulous this summer please book your appointment with Rosie. read more

This salon ROCKS!!!! The Salon is named after one of my favorite Prince songs which definitely intrigued me to check it out. So so glad I did. My husband and daughter were the first to try it and shared that it was a must for me to visit as well. Receptionist sat me up for a consultation with Amber since I was new. Walking in I knew I found my new hair salon. Return hair appointment resulted in a Platinum Blonde color and cut which Amber pulled off beautifully! She was fabulous! I'm EXTREMELY picky about who touches my hair. So the fact I found a place and an amazing person who I keep coming back to. I have to share... Darling Nikki's is a cute salon. Everyone that I've interacted with has been super friendly and just good hearted people. They have a bomb picture of Prince, and I mean let's be honest if you're going to name your salon after a Prince song the place itself HAS TO be bomb, and it is! My girl Natasha, is a cut and color genius. Every time I've seen her I've given her a color challenge and she does it with ease. I've never received so many compliments on my hair, until I started seeing her. I'm paranoid on getting my hair cut, but she knows exactly what to do with my hair to make me feel comfortable and for it to most importantly be healthy. Honestly she is THE BEST. Truly love every experience going to Darling Nikki's and seeing Natasha. You should most certainly check them out! read more

I'm not a fan of going to "salons"... That being said I decided to skip my usual Barber Shop haircut and visit Darling Nikki's. The hours are more accommodating with my schedule. I called and was promptly booked with a hairstylist named Maureen. The place was easy to find and they have free parking in the back. It's super close to Porto's so if you're hungry before or after your cut you can stop by there,(and bring the girls some goodies, too!). I found the salon to be girly but not so much so I felt odd being there. The colours were neutral and the environment and music was choice and as soon as it was known that I had an appointment I was asked if I would like something to drink by the very nice girl at the front desk. Maureen was called from the back and I was greeted with an awesome smile and a sense of comfort. She quickly had me in the hot seat and ready to go. I had some pics of previous haircuts that I had liked on me. Maureen looked through them and quickly went to work. Maureen has an attention to detail I have never experienced at any barber shop. She switched from shears to clippers and was very in tune with the ebb and flow of my head and maneuvered it with ease and professionalism. The conversation was enthralling and the hair style was spot on and painless, as it should be. I will definitely be visiting Darling Nikki's Salon in the future for more fantastic fades and will absolutely request Maureen as my stylist. You should too! I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

A true gem of Burbank compared to the competition, Darling Nikki's prices were fair and their results were professional and impressive. This review is for my wife's hair dye treatment by Angelina Marie. My wife went from jet black to a strawberry blonde in one day after 9 years of dyeing her hair black. Angelina offered a free consultation-- which does not come free by most other salons in the area who want to charge you $30 just to talk for 10 mins. She dedicated the whole day to my wife's hair treatment. The pricing was very fair too $75/hr compared to other stylists charging $85 or $100/hr and the stylists here have just as much experience as the other competition out there. I would highly recommend this establishment and Angelina to anyone looking for a professional hair dye treatment or cut. read more

First things first, this salon is the jam. The walls are outfitted in lavender with prints and painting of the late Prince. I must admit I stood there awestruck for a moment before I was greeted with a warm smile and an offer for coffee or water by the salon's senior assistant and junior stylist, Amber (who gives the most glorious shampoo and head massage, plus has enviably great hair). A little backstory for those of you who just love reading reviews: my hair was a bit of a mess. And by a bit I mean a lot of a mess. Like Animal from the muppets dying his own hair for years and then never cutting it mess. Like a giant fluffy tangle. I had let my hair go bad and it was going to take a badass woman to fix it. That woman of course is Master stylist and owner, Ashley who is so amazing, she likely has a degree from Hogwarts in hair revival wizardry. She joked with me through my nervousness, was patient and kind as we discussed color and cut options and before I knew it, the sad beige dust bunny living atop my head had transformed into a beautiful amber red TOUCHABLE mane. The rest of the day the compliments wouldn't stop! Everyone in the salon was downright Gold. I couldn't recommend it more, so whether you just need a quick trim or to tame your out of control tresses, this is the place to be. read more

Got the Groupon deal for hair cut, color and style. Apparently if you want to bleach your hair that's extra. I came to Darling Nikki's with long dark hair that had been box dyed for close to 20 years and Angelina turned it into beautiful blond hair that I really wanted but was sure was impossible to achieve. She persevered for 7 long hours, treating each piece of hair with delicacy and care to ensure that we got the best results possible. Before this process I didn't realize how much knowledge and patience it takes for someone to do this properly, it's a science and I now have so much respect for professionals who can execute a successful transformation. I'm reviewing this salon on my friends behalf, as she is the one that had the experience of getting the cut on Friday and I was just there for support...or just to entertain her as I feel she uses me for that lol. Amber was the stylist that attended her locks. AMBER, you did an amazing job on my friends hair, she loves it! Not only did Amber do a fantastic job, she gave her a scalp massage while getting her hair washed (I was a witness). She also has a great sense of humor. This salon is different from the ones I've been too. The stylist just ask you what you want done and basically that's all the conversation you're going to have with them. Not here, they talk to you, they offer you something to drink and just make you feel welcomed. It feels comfortable to get a good cut and convo. My friend was so impressed with Amber that she is even going to cheat on her hair stylist and get her hair color re-done with her. Amber, thank you for making my friend feel comfortable, relaxed, making us laugh and also for the great cut. Not only is she going to go back BUT I as well will be trying YOU out soon. read more

After finding out I was pregnant nearly 2 years ago, I went into full-on Save Mode and one of the first things to go was getting my hair professionally done. A week ago I finally felt like I was in a place where I could give myself a little TLC and went to see Armen at Darling Nikki's. He did a beautiful job with my color - a caramel/dark red balayage/ombré - and gave me a great cut without taking off too much length. He was also great to talk to! So happy with my choice to come here and I'll be coming back as a regular customer for sure. This place is a new salon in Burbank but the stylists are anything but new and know what they are doing. I'm SUPER picky about my hair and after my old stylist moved out of town, I went to every salon imaginable to try to find a new affordable stylist to maintain my 80's/pixie/skater cut and keep it looking top notch. After years of awful haircuts and stylists who couldn't follow instructions and didn't know what they were doing, I finally found Rosie and she's been keeping my locks looking fabulous for the past year now. This salon is very clean and in a great neighborhood near Porto's and they have plenty of parking in the back which is very convenient.
