MOD pizza is definitely my favorite pizza place! The staff are always sweet & work really hard to get your order done quickly. My favorite pizza is the MOD Caspian with no gorgonzola (I substitute mozzarella) ! It has a BBQ base with cheese, grilled chicken, red onions & a BBQ swirl on top. The pizzas are then placed into a Woodfired stove and cooked to perfection! The restaurant is well laid out, with a mixture of booths and tables. No harsh lighting & some of the friendliest staff members you could ask for! I also love the message that MOD spreads! On the back of their sign behind the counter it says "It's cool to be kind" ! Came here for 1st time then remembered i had been taken to the Newport News Location a few years ago. I was greeted and i told the young lady it was my first time so she offered to give me a run down of how Mod works! The staff was friendly, my pizza tasted really good i got the Mod size (11") which has 6 good sized slices! I like the fact you can add as many toppings as you'd like! They also have salads, sides, & desserts. Oh i also got 2 finishing sauces on the side (you can also get it on the pizza at end) They also have 9 Signature Pizza's to pick from if you don't want to create your own & you can add or take off from those 9! The stores was clean for the most part just a few napkins on the floor and food so on down time they probably should sweep up & wipe tables down otherwise nice ambiance even had nice music playing. Then he finished every other customers that came after me despite me standing by it's not like he couldn't see me or anything. I just ordered one single pizza. Genuinely love pizza from here but, unfortunately I've noticed a decline in product quality. To have only been open for 2 hours and out of ingredients on a Tuesday is unacceptable. Not only that I have gotten the house lemonade and without a doubt it was old! It tastes as if the machine had never been cleaned and is just been recycling expired lemonade. On this day the lemonade machines are completely out. I used to love traditional pizza places, and it's still normal for me to enjoy their pies, but hands down MOD Pizza is special. I always build my own MOD sized pizza and it never disappoints. In addition to having numerous toppings to select from, they are also generous with them when preparing my pizza. The pizza is cooked quickly, but thoroughly in the pizza oven, and staff can top it off with sauce(s), if desired. My favorite toppings are: spinach, pepperoni, mozzarella, Asiago cheese, feta cheese, bacon, mild sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Sour of the moment stop in occurred here. Just another weekend trying to squeeze in time together as a family. We like to try new places and MOD Pizza seemed perfect. I could not tell how ordering went when we walked in. But, we got the hang of it. We ordered three MOD sized pizzas, one no name cake and 3 fountain drinks. The total was around $45 with a tip. I forgot to ask about military discount but, as we left I overheard a customer receive one. So they do offer a discount to military. Pricing was not to bad. I enjoyed the pizza. Crust is thin and toppings were delicious. I could tell the staff was a mixture of new, seasoned and half seasoned. They were all trying though. Most businesses are like this and a little patience goes a long way. My favorite pizza was the Caspian. The flavors meshed well together. It had mozzarella, Gorgonzola, red onion, BBQ chicken and BBQ sauce. We also got the maddy, cheese only. We lastly had IGGY- Flash mob. I loved that pizza!!! It had mozzarella cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, cilantro, taco spiced sausage, sliced tomatoes, jalapeños, and ranchero sauce. I am going to need this one to be on the menu all the time! 4/5 stars because my toppings did not go to the edge and some toppings were missing from some sections of the pizza. Due to short staffing they're not allowing people into the store unless you've placed your order online (as of 12/16) Had to stand outside in this chilly weather trying to sign language to the people that I already placed an order. And it still took them forever to come to the door. The employee that was making my salad came to the door and let another employee in. Went back to continue making the salad. Literally had to BANG on the door to tell her to change her gloves. I'm not sure what they have going on but every time I come to MODs it's a bunch of nonsense that comes along with it, multiple locations. After looking around, they miraculously remembered that they had it in the oven. Once I got my pizza, I couldn't believe how terrible it looked. Toppings were thrown on and the cheese was disgusting. I brought the pizza back in to be remade, and the staff asked confused on who made it and tried to blame it on DoorDash/Uber Eats even though I picked it up myself through their online pick up service on their website. Most of the staff members were friendly but the management has some work to do. It appears that this location has more curbside pickups as opposed to patrons that eat inside or outside and it shows. The exterior seating has not been cleaned in a very long time which is where we sat. The inside areas where napkins/straws and drinks need cleaning as well. The pizza is good but my lettuce was wilted. I ordered the smallest size salad but was given the larger one. I believe because they needed to use up the wilted lettuce and there was so much dressing on the salad that I could not taste the salad. The pizza was very good though. So I'd just say there needs to be a lot of cleaning at this establishment and a refresher in customer service along with salad preparation and they'll increase their customer base. read more

There is a universal love for pizza. How can you go wrong with bread, cheese, and sauce? It is one of my favorite foods to eat. The hubs and I tend to be a glutton when it comes down to stuffing our faces with pizza. I'm not familiar with the area, so Yelp was one of the tools I used in searching for eateries. Due to Covid, we ended up ordering takeaway, because we were never too sure what phase the state was in one day and the next. Mod popped up on the yelp feed, and I learned that we could place an order online for pickup. The ordering process was relatively easy to navigate, and reminded me of the chipotle setup of being in control of what toppings to add on. I ordered one of their promotional flash pies named "Diego." It entailed pork chorizo, red sauce, mozzarella, feta, roasted corn, red onion and cilantro. The next three we both created our own. A confirmation and time was sent to the email provided at check out. Our order was ready when we arrived. I noticed on my first bite that the dough had a card board taste. All the pies looked cooked on top, but the bottom was lacking texture and overall flavor. It was weird, because I reheated it in the oven, and the dough rose and had less of a starchy taste. I thought with the amount of toppings we had on our pizza, it would be bursting with flavors. The crust was very chewy.... maybe it was the lack of yeast? Anywho, maybe it was an off day. The concept of Mod Pizza is great-- you pick any toppings you want on it. Yet, I feel like my pizzas always end up looking really sad at this location. Like they were penny pinching on the number of ingredients allowed per pizza. For the price I paid, I probably could've gone to a nicer sit down pizza restaurant or even made my own pizza at home and been more fulfilled. While this is a chain restaurant I enjoy what they have to offer. I tried their cauliflower crust, although it cost a bit extra, it's 10/10. I feel it cooks the most even as well. The roasted garlic topping is my wife's favorite, Maybe she gets it to try to keep my advances at bay or she genuinely is in love with the taste but regardless it's at MOD's benefit. Hmmm I was really expecting a little more from this pizzeria. I ordered online which is very easy to do especially for me being on my lunch break. The mini pizzas seemed like the best idea since I wanted to try a couple different kinds. I was really intrigued by the description of the Dominic mini pizza. The white sauce with Asiago cheese, fresh chopped basil, red onion, and mild sausage sounded like I was gonna be in heaven for lunch. But..... I spoke too fast. The Dominic sounded good on paper like my ex-boyfriend,but didn't deliver in real life lol. It lacks flavor and it really needed more cheese it was more of a saucy flatbread with some toppings. I wasn't impressed. But I did really like the mad dog mini pizza. I wish the crust wasn't so crispy but the flavors and the house made red sauce was definitely living up to the hype. Our food usually looks good, but the short African-American lady with the short haircut and scowl on her face, just threw our food all over the place. I have been to several MOD locations in North Carolina and was very excited to see a location closer to home. I always get a custom pizza and was very satisfied. We also always get the cheesy garlic bread which does not disappoint. The service was the best we have had. During our lunch stay we were asked twice if we needed anything and how our meal was. This was unexpected but appreciated. Parking is right in front and we went during lunch time but you can get through the line in about 5 minutes because it moves quickly. Food was fresh and hot. The price is definitely affordable. For two people with drinks and getting the cheesy bread we only spent $25. You won't get custom pizzas for that price anywhere else! Literally every time we go to MOD, it's a stellar experience. The staff is incredibly nice and so so helpful. I have celiac disease and I HATE having to ask questions about ingredients. I always feel like I'm being a bother. The MOD staff has never made me feel that way and they always make amazing recommendations. They always ask if I get a gluten free crust because of an allergy vs. preference so they can be more careful of contamination if they need to be. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that!! Their white sauce is gluten free and SO good. The grilled chicken is never dry, and they always have delicious seasonal options. I highly recommend the balsamic after-bake! read more
