We've been buying bikes and bike accessories from Mock Orange since they were in Mocksville (hence the name) and are never disappointed about this. They really put the customer first, which is a necessary business model in the age of big box stores and e-commerce - but not all small businesses succeed as well as MOB does. Our most recent experience motivated me to write this review after years and years of being a customer. My wife and I had two bikes we wanted to donate to World Relief for Afghan refugees they are relocated to the Triad. We wanted to get them fixed up before donating them, so (of course waiting until the last minute) brought them to MOB on Saturday for a Monday donation date. Told Charles what we were doing and he said they were about a week out on repairs but that he could throw them up on the stand and if they didn't need much work his guy could do them while we waited. About 30 minutes later, we had two functional bikes to donate to some needy families. Not only that, but one of the bikes we had bought at MOB so the tune-uptune-up was free. For the other he halved the standard tune up price. What a wonderful business to have as part of our community. read more

This is a fabulous place. I took an e-bike to them to get a tune-up, and to ask them to switch the tires, because the rear tire was worn. Instead of just doing what I asked, they explained how what I was asking was dangerous, because a front tire that is worn is more likely to get a flat, and flats on the front tire can be seriously hazardous. After receiving their counsel, they switched the rear tire for a new one, and gave it a full tune up. They found that there was a bolt missing from the rear brake caliper, and put a new one in. It's also a lot smoother to ride now. I couldn't be happier. They were transparent about the pricing, which was very reasonable, and they were super friendly. I know that bike shops in general don't like to deal with e-bikes, but they were great about it. read more

This is best bike shop I have ever been too and the only place I'll come from now on. It's a one stop shop. They have a wide selection of bikes, such as road bikes, beach cruisers (which I purchased and have absolutely loved) , bikes on consignment, bikes for kids, mountain bikes, you name it, they got it! Even some wild unique one-of-a-kind bikes! Their inventory changes frequently, so if you don't see something you like the first time, don't hesitate to stop back in later for a second look. Not only is this a great place to shop but if your bike needs a tune up or repair they have a shop in the back with the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff. Also a great place to get random spare parts you might need for your bike. If for some reason they don't have it in stock, they can order it for you. Additional items in their shop includes bike helmets, locks, baskets, bells, gear for professional riders, bike racks, etc. I even saw skateboards/longboards recently :) Mock Orange Bikes has excellent customer service! You will not be disappointed, everyone goes out of their way to make sure you get the best experience possible and answer any questions you may have. The. Best. Bike. Shop. Ever. I don't think it's possible to find a more knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous staff. Charles knows everyone by name and makes sure to greet you as soon as he lays eyes on you. Stephen is super helpful and always has a smile on his face. These two are patient and will answer a million questions to make sure you get the right bike or gear or whatever it is that you need. I send all of my friends to Mock for purchase or repairs. If you know absolutely nothing about bike Charles and the crew will get you up to speed and send you away with a bike that it just right for you. Parking can be a bit dicey since the location shares a lot with a few other businesses and occasionally a biker or two so keep yout eyes peeled. read more

Great place for the best and friendly customer service. This is NOT some uptight bike shop where the employees have high opinion of themselves. They provide great mechanical support of all bikes and not just theirs. I have run into several of the employees while riding around Winston Salem and they immediately recognized me as a customer and one thsy does not spend that much although I have bought a couple mid range bikes there. They have a coffee shop next door so its convenient to grab a cup while waiting on repairs, shopping around or just chatting. I have purchased 2 Kona bikes (1 for me and 1 for my daughter) here and will return when ready for another. read more

This place is as good as it gets. I was staying in town for a few days on my way to Dupont for a mountain bike trip (coming from Florida) when I bent my front rim goofing off. It was damaged beyond repair and I was leaving the following morning. I took my bike right over and told the guys I was in a bind. Without hesitation, they set me up with a quality second hand rim AND tweaked a few other minor issues I had. The price for parts and labor was right on and the mechanic knew exactly what he was doing. I picked up my bike the following morning (same day service) and ended up riding a good 90 miles without any issue and having a great vacation thanks to these guys. They even took the extra time to set me up with some local knowledge of trails and info for the Pisgah, Brevard, Dupont area. This is the best bike shop in the area! Very warm, friendly, super-quick service, ultra-helpful, and great mechanics. Plus the store is vibey and fun, not sterile. I bought a new road bike there and I feel like they totally have my back for all needs. In contrast, I bought a used road bike from another local store. I went this past Saturday morning for 2 bikes adjustments expecting that a future appointment was needed but Steve agreed to take a look and ended up fixing both bikes on the spot spending a good 30 mn while there were other customers waiting. Unless you are looking to drop 5 grand on a bike don't bother asking for help. In fact, don't bother going. The customer service is almost non existent. If they come out to help and realize you aren't a serious cyclist, or some yuppy with a disposable income then they are quick to go on about their business. There are better shops to go too. This place has built up the reputation of being very snobbish. Only catering to who they feel is worthy of their time and attention. Better off going elsewhere. read more

Really nice people here. Very reasonable pricing on service. Brought a bike in for a new tube which they installed while we waited. No problem waiting...fantastic selection of bikes at all levels...pricing competitive...nice dog named Hella who loves to fetch tennis balls (smile). Came back after a few hours with another bike that needed a new brake lever after a minor spill. Mock Orange staff cares about every body who wants to bike, novice to avid biker. They provide good advice about how to use your gears, adjust your seat, etc. without charging. Their prices are reasonable and their work is very reliable. I like their new location on Reynolda Road. These folks are great! When I moved back to town and decided to get a bike for commuting, they set me up with a bike (Kona) that fit the bill - and my rather limited budget. When I was (unfortunately) hit by a car while biking, they came to my house, picked up my bike, checked it over for the insurance claims and returned it - all free of charge. A few years ago when I decided to get a road bike for triathlon races, I told them what my budget was, and they put me into a (only slightly) used Jamis bike that I adore - at 50% savings. Every time I've had an issue with my bike they've fixed it up - usually while I wait. They do a yearly service on it for free. I haven't had five thousand dollars to spend on a bike - but they treat me like I do. Great customer service that goes above and beyond. read more

I really never complain about anything, but I feel like someone needs to read about my experience... So, this morning I called and talked to an associate, explained the work I needed done to my bicycle, he said they were busy, but asked me to bring my bicycle in.. It takes me 45 minutes to drive to the shop, which is newly relocated.. When I arrive, I explain the work that needs to be done, the associate that I talked to, and the person behind the counter proceeds to tell me "the associate you spoke with this morning did not talk to me, and it will be two weeks before we can even look at it" I explained to him that we don't have any bicycle shops where I live and I drove 45 minutes to drop my bike off based on a conversation I had with an employee of theirs.. I told him I would wait the two weeks and ask if I could leave the bike with him... He then tells me "You will need to take the bicycle home and bring it back in two weeks" he says they have just moved and they don't have the space to accommodate my bike for the waiting period... He apologizes and says he is "sorry", but it was very inconvenient for me to drive 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back to my house.. read more
