This is a small but cute donut shop in the big lot by Target in Poway. These doughnuts are really fun if you're looking for something different (but don't expect super airy and bread-like doughnuts) they are chewy, but that's what makes them fun! I thought they tasted pretty good the next day too (as opposed to typical donuts that really need to be eaten as soon as possible.) I really enjoyed the mango icing on mine and would definitely get more of these again. I look forward to trying the ube and some of the more unique flavors they offer. Not often I can excitedly gobble balls... of dough... I should have come at a better time and picked a better flavor. That said my experience was alright. My donut has a mochi like quality. Nice chew. "Toothsome" some might say... I'll save "mouthfeel" for other things. I decided to go passion fruit flavor because after the lemon it's my favorite fruit. I'm also missing my usual travels to SE Asia (soon I'll be going) and so thought it would nice to sneak a taste. Unfortunately, the flavor was more perfume like, and not actually tangy like a nice passionate fruit. I knew it was a risk but when you're hankering for some mochinut in your mouth, you apt to get a little wild choosing flavors. It's a bit more expensive than I thought at over $4 for one. Heard about this place before and wanted to try out since they have many locations, in other cities and states. Gotta be decent right? My take=I believe worth a trip or two back at the very least. But I will tell you right now, not going for those dogs on sticks.. Arriving late in the evening around 7, I did have the idea that there would be limited selection of drinks and/or donuts. And I was correct, had to choose what was left on the mochinut shelf and the gal mentioned they happened to be out of boba. This is not necessarily a bad thing for me, but I was with the mindset of getting the lady a drink here and then this. I personally don't like the boba much, as the consistency and quality varies greatly form one time to another. I am a fan of the teas now and then, and I went with the Thai tea, and the other drink was the house special brown sugar tea. One thing that was disappointing was they could not be customized at all, not even 1/2 sugar which is how I order them. So they are good but way too sweet for me. The gal here was working tirelessly by herself it appeared, and was an absolute doll with her presence, positive attitude and quick attention. That was impressive in itself. So I tried the donuts, well mochinuts. Out of the 3 mochinuts, the matcha was the clear winner by a long shot. It had the exact flavors of that wonderful matcha taste that I love. Complexity as it should have, yet sweet since it is all in the glaze. Even the amazing texture seemed different than the other two, which I didn't understand. An incredibly delicious treat. I came to this location for the first time on a Saturday. It was easy to find a parking spot and they were not busy. The employees were very friendly and service was quick. I called this Mochinut off Pomerado Road before visiting because I have serious shellfish and peanut allergies. I asked some basic allergen questions, like what kind of oil they use for the donuts and Korean corn dogs, and how ingredients are kept separate. My biggest concern was the corn dogs since many places use peanut oil, which I cannot have. Unfortunately, the young woman who answered the phone was passive-aggressive and admitted she didn't know what oil was used for the corn dogs. For anyone with allergies, that kind of uncertainty is really stressful. I think it's so important for staff to be educated on ingredients or at least know where to quickly check so customers with allergies can feel safe and informed. In the end, I did some research myself (through other reviews) and found out the oil was safe, which allowed me to enjoy the Korean corn dogs. But I left feeling disappointed that I had to dig for that information on my own instead of getting a clear answer from the staff. I'd encourage management to train employees better on allergen safety, even just knowing where to look for ingredient info would make a big difference. This place is small but cute! It's clean and Staff are always nice. We've been a here a few times. The food is good and is always consistent. We've had the mozzarella, the potato mozzarella, the half and half, the hot Cheetos half and half and have tried all of there drinks with the exception of the chai tea. Ube is the favorite. Only thing I wish they had was little containers to put the different sauces in. They put them either on top of the food or on the bottom of the container, which saturates the food and makes it a bit soggy by the time we got home. Solid place in the area for unique dessert/food offerings and in the same lot as Target. I only came for a mochi donut and appreciated that I could buy just one ($3) vs other locations where the purchase of a single donut was only a Monday offering. This must be the laziest store/restaurant I've ever ordered from. If I didn't like their food so much, I wouldn't keep trying. Every month or so I place a repeat order on DoorDash and every time same bs. This location is not as good as their convoy location. Upon entry, we were not greeted and it immediately felt weird. I decided to say hi first and still no one responded. Just got weird looks from the staff which made me and my mom feel awkward and uncomfortable. I ordered a thai tea with boba. I also got a 3 pack with the matcha, churro and banana-milk flavors. I love that Poway is becoming like a little hub of Clairemont 2.0. I came here on a Saturday and Monday. You have to check their social media for flavors of the week. There are 6 flavors with churro, original, and funnel cake on repeat while the other 3 flavors are on rotate. This location is extremely tiny. They opened at noon on Saturday and there was already a line. There wasn't a sign but we all did 3 people at a time inside while the rest stood outside. Once you receive your ticket, wait outside until your number is called on the loud speaker. My favorite are below in *. *Original- my favorite, taste like Krispy Kreme original glazed *Churro- taste like churros -Funnel cake - choice of strawberry, chocolate, or another flavor as drizzle *Raspberry - the best in terms of resemblance to the fruit -Milk chocolate - taste chocolate donuts -Taro - fan favorite -Butter pecan - sweet like ice cream -Milky - got confused with coffee -Coffee - got confused with milky I also tried the ube drink and it was so good! $5 for one large size cup. It was rich, creamy and fragrant. Also got original and potato hot dog. Many options to choose from with meat or cheese inside. Outside is with yeasted batter and coated with panko. The potato was coated with diced potatoes and deep fried. All very tasted. My only complaint would be the sauce and take out containers. You had a choice of four sauces. To be drizzled on the hot dog or on the side. I opted for side, thinking it'll be in a little cup with a lid. Nope, it was drizzled at the bottom of the take out container. That was not helpful because the container is not even and had grooves which made it difficult to dip. Second, it was just wasteful when one container can hold two hot dogs but because I requested two different sauce, they used two containers. Not eco-friendly. They could have put two hot dog in one and gave the sauce on the side in a dipping cup with a lid. Now, wouldn't that be smart? Parking at this Target plaza is way better than the Convoy location. The inside is tiny unlike the Convoy location where you can sit inside to enjoy your goodies. It's great to bring to parties as most people have never tried these. The dough is just as soft & buttery but it has more of a light, bouncy texture & a slight chewyness on the inside. If you like the texture of mochi, you'll probably love this!! They are shaped a little differently with pull-apart style balls which make them look really cute. Their flavors change weekly I believe & you can follow them on IG to see their current flavors. I tried all 6 of their current flavors & my top go-to fave is still original glazed! They were all good but I'm just kind of basic. New location that just opened up in Poway next to Target. Lines were obviously long due to everyone's excitement. But the wait was worth it. I've tried the other location in Convoy which was a lot harder to go to because of the driving distance and the parking sucks...this place is way more convenient! We ordered a box of 6 donuts and ordered 2 drinks, we got 1 of each flavor donuts they had that opening. This is a nice little spot so far North of Convoy and Mira Mesa. So what does Mochinut sell? Three main things, boba drink, donuts and hot dogs. Thats it. There are a few flavors of donuts. They sell them in sets of 3s. Why would you ever just want one? We got the banana milk, original glazed and dark chocolate. The bananailk was damn good. It came with a funny little graham cracker on top. The dark chocoate was nice because it was lowkey chocolaty without the rush of sugar. The original was as expected. Now, onto the hot dogs. We got half/half, half cheese and half hotdog. Theyre covered in potato and then a sauce of your choosing. I think its got honey mustard, ranch, hot mayo and chili. You get to choose up to 2. I got honey mustard and hot mayo. It was nice and filling. Definitely enjoy it fresh. We ate it right outside the shop. Boba! I'd love to say it was good but we didn't get a chance to try it. They were all out of boba...so we skipped on the boba drink. They looked good though and off salted cheese topping for an extra dollar. Would've been worth a try if they had boba. Woo hoo! Mochinut's new location is finally open! Came here on opening day to take advantage of the instagram promotion of one free item. They opened at noon and we arrived at 12:30pm. The line was already long, almost to the entrance of Target, but it was expected. It wasn't until about 2:30pm when it was our turn to order. We ordered the box of 6 mochinuts. They had the following flavors available: butter, Nutella, matcha, churro, funnel cake and original. Nothing new from their other locations but still tasty as always. We also got the Thai tea and Ube boba drinks. Originally we wanted the Brown Sugar boba but it wasn't available. Our drinks actually ended up not coming with any boba. We weren't sure if we had to explicitly say we wanted to add some, or if they ran out. But they never mentioned anything and we didn't see anyone else with boba either. Nevertheless, both drinks were actually pretty good. Hopefully next time they'll have the brown sugar and boba available. The main thing we wanted to try were the corn dogs since none of the other locations offer them. We did have to wait a bit longer for them to get prepared though. We ordered the original and hot Cheetos half and half. They mixed up our order a bit. The original ended up being half and half and the hot Cheetos was original and also had potatoes, which was weird because that combo wasn't an option. But it wasn't a big deal to us, both were pretty good. We chose honey mustard as our sauce, which was drizzled on top. Overall, for grand opening day, this new location of Mochinut was pretty good. I visited here a while back because I wanted something sweet after my Target trip. I've tried other Mochinut locations before and remember their mochi donuts being good, but this location serves boba milk teas so I wanted to try it out! They have these drink and mochi donut combos for a good deal and the mochi donuts were chewy and delicious (definitely on the sweeter side if you usually prefer desserts that are not too sweet). The reason why I am rating it only 3 stars is because of the boba drinks. My bf and I ordered the milk tea and the thai tea drinks with boba. Sweetness can't be adjusted because they are premade. Both drinks were unbearably sweet for our tastebuds (I usually order 50-75% sweetness & my bf orders 75%-100% sweetness at boba shops) and the drinks did not taste like tea at all -- mostly sugar and creamer. I did notice that the worker didn't stir the containers the drinks were premade in so there was likely a lot of tea settled to the bottom that didn't end up in our drinks. The boba texture was also hard and way undercooked. I know this is not a boba shop but because of the drinks, I don't think I would go there again. read more

I think their taro & original glazed was the best! Lychee too sweet but definitely tasted just like lychee, and the other flavors were just alright. I've tried their korean hotdogs but i didn't enjoy it because the hotdog used were the cheaper brand hotdogs that are salty and vienna sausage tasting. Service was quick, it's just a pick & choose type of place and placed in a box, and the boba milk tea took about 5 minutes to bottle - comes in a cute beer looking can and can be saved for later or when you feel like drinking it! Only a selet few Mochinut locations sell corndogs and milktea - and this is one of them. The ability to buy a corndog, boba milktea and donut in a combo is very strategic. A little bit of each item they offer to enjoy. These corndogs aren't just any type of corndog, there's mozzaerella, potato and even cheeto dusted options. Of course, the donuts are the main attraction. Unique in their own way due to using a mochiko flour to give it a crispy outside and chewy inside. Then they are usually topped in Asian flavors like matcha and ube - or traditional flavor like glaze, cinnamon and chocolate. While delicious, the only setback is that it is $3 a donut! I got their brown sugar boba, was really good, slightly sweeter then I'd prefer it, my preference though as some prefer it super sweet. Their tapioca boba was perfect to texture! At first glance, I was under the impression that Mochinut was inspired by Mister Donut's "Pon de Ringu," which is easily described as a ring of donut holes. Look it up--Mister Donut and Dunkin' have a shared history! though Mister Donut has all but abandoned the US and moved on to dominate Japan's donut scene. But I digress... Let me disclose that I like mochi. And I like donuts. So the idea of mochi + donuts sounds like a winning combo to me. And yet it isn't...at least to my tastebuds. Maybe you'll like them more than I did. They also sell corn dogs and boba too...BUT - Boba can be had almost anywhere now but it works perfectly if you're doing a donut run here.
