I was so excited to get mochi from this lovely booth in the Mongkok MTR station. While waiting in line, I noticed that the kid in front of me had a stamp card. This was definitely the guy wanted to ask about which flavor to get. He suggested the chocolate mousse which also had a star next to it as the recommended choice either restaurant.
Me being the rebel that I am wanted something fruity because it was a hot summer day. I decided to order the mango mousse. I was shocked when I received my bag and the mochi was frozen. There was also a card attached with thawing instructions. I waited until the customer behind me ordered and saw that she was also given a frozen piece of mochi which made me feel little bit better.
I walked around Mongkok for what I thought was 20 minutes and then decided to dig in. Despite not waiting quite long enough to take my first bite, it was delectable and the frozen mango mousse mimicked ice cream. This treat tasted even better than it looked! Don't get me wrong, this does not rival fresh mochi that you can get from local bakeries, but it's pretty good considering it has been frozen. read more
