While waiting, I sipped on a Cinnamon Maple Latte, which was bold and strong, as well as heavy on the cinnamon, but could have used more maple and sweetness. My friend and I shared the Bread and Cornbread Basket, served warm with raspberry preserve jam and butter. The Bread was perfectly baked, fluffy, and well seasoned. Cornbread was glazed, giving it a slightly sweet taste, as well as crumbly in a good way. The butter made the breads richer, while the raspberry jam added a nice layer of flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, adding Truffle Fries, which were an additional $5. This also came with a small side salad topped with radishes. The Steak was tender, wonderfully juicy, and flavorful. Eggs were cooked over hard, just how I like them and made expertly. Truffle fries had a generous sprinkling of Parmesan and were delightfully crispy, with strong truffle yumminess. Salad gave a fresh element to the dish. Service was lovely. After a few minutes, the hostess/bartender came up to us and, while bringing us to the table, abruptly dropped the menus on the tables and walked away. Nothing was ever said on her part, not even her name. This was just one of many incidents that happened with her throughout the night.  Her customer service was awful with every encounter. She was always short and had a tone. I ordered the mushroom and waffle plate which arrived cold and tasted as if something in it was spoiled. After telling her that I did not want this plate, she grabbed my food and again just walked away without a word. She then returns to our table to say that she tasted my plate and that is how it is supposed to taste. I found this to be extremely disrespectful and rude on her part.  Towards the end of this awful experience our hostess/bartender changes her shift with a different waitress and no one ever communicates this to us. At this point, we are ready to leave as soon as possible. When we finally received our check, there was a 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill of only three guests. Again, this vital detail was never communicated with us. I mention the detail that we were the only party that was of color - I'm  unsure if that had something to do with it. There were no seats available, and the wait for a single cup of coffee stretched to nearly 40 minutes. The coffee itself is on the expensive side, especially considering the wait and the limited space. However, once you taste it, the quality does help justify both the price and the popularity. Given the small size of the shop, I'd absolutely return--but only during off-peak hours, when it's less crowded and easier to fully enjoy what they do best. If you're craving a genuinely great cup of coffee and have the patience (or good timing), Buunni is worth checking out. 3 stars because of price to coffee ratio, wait time, and overall experience.

The toppings station was a mess, and a few weeks ago, my dad came in and an employee assembled his smoothie bowl for him. When I came in today, I expected the same, but instead, they told me to grab a bowl from the fridge and assemble it myself. I was confused, since that's not how it's been done in the past two time we've ordered it. When I mentioned this, the staff acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and asked me to describe the employee who helped my dad -- as if I'd remember exactly what she looked like. On top of that, several of the toppings I needed for the bowl weren't even available. I live in the neighborhood and used to love coming here on weekends, but $11 for a smoothie bowl I have to put together myself -- with missing toppings -- just isn't worth it. The floors were dirty, and the topping station was grimy and unstocked. The staff today didn't seem helpful or attentive, and overall, the experience was really disappointing.
