Disgusting food received from Goldmine on 4/15/2024. The burger was burnt beyond (I asked for medium-well) and I asked for homefries instead of French fries. This place has gotten significantly worse over the last year with their food orders via delivery. The last few times I have ordered, they sent me more than one wrong item. This time (4/15/2024), they did the same thing - left out 2 sets of homefries that I ordered and sent me a blackened, burnt burger when I asked for medium-well. When I called to complain, I was put on hold for 5+ minutes, so I think they forgot about me. When I called back, the owner who had an attitude, initially told me that he didn't see my delivery. After I explained again that it was via Seamless, he then rudely rattled something about when they get an order, it doesn't show that it's coming from a food app. In any case, he miraculously found my order. When I complained about all the things done wrong, the man actually acted as if the errors were my fault - as if I was personally on the grill messing everything up. I ended up hanging up on him because try to get him to understand that he ruined my order was becoming a moot point. This is a place I have patronized for more than 15 years. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. Wish zero stars was an option. read more

The guy who works the cash register answers the phone, asks customers to hold then puts the phone down and waits until whoever called hangs up. Ive been the caller and have seen him do it to others in person. Ive tried to order for pick up at least 6 times and only got him to take my order once. That one time he said "thats what you called for? You can just order here." When I have ordered in person his system and speed takes 15 minutes for a bacon egg and cheese and a coffee to go. This here is more of a diner than a cafe. It's actually one of the best in the neighborhood. I perfer to go to this one then all the rest. I do think they should do an upgrade of the place, being that we have so many new up coming restaurants, and all the old ones are getting new renovations, I think they definitely need to get one too. Might I add that this place has the best and cleanest bathroom, compared to all the diners I've been too. Now the food, its good for breakfast, brunch, and dinner too. The deserts they offer are a plus. I had a piece of their cannoli cake, and boy did that make my tummy happy. The prices are your typical diner prices, and N.Y., seems to be getting more expensive by the second, my opinion. This is not a hugh place, either has about maybe 6 or 7 booths, and an area to sit at, where you can see them cooking. The people here are nice, they only have about two waitress to take your order, bring you your coffee, and food. Very small place, maybe that why they choose to call it a cafe, but its definitely a gold mine, a small lil gem. Heres a tip too, if you staying pay cash, because they charge you 50 cents extra for using it, and they don't add a lil area where you can add a tip. They refused my $20 bill because the corner was torn off (see photo). I had nothing else on me, and the part I especially took issue with was the rude way they dealt with it. The man behind the counter refused to look me in the eye, speaking past me to another customer once he saw the bill. I appreciate that they gave me the egg cream for free, but he hurried me out of the mostly empty diner. Go to Dale's next door--also open 24 hours, and so friendly (see my review of them). This deli is ok. The service was pretty fast. The table was sticky. When we asked the server to wipe it she said its permanently like that. EXTREMELY FRIENDLY WAIT STAFF! Great for burgers, eggs, etc. If you're adventurous, give their Pastichio (Greek Lasagna) a try. Rather than ziti or penne, they use the type of long Greek pasta that is one of the signatures of the dish. The Pastichio comes with a tasty and light as air layer of bechamel sauce on the top. Do wish they'd use a touch more cinnamon in the meat sauce but regardless, it's a great deal and comes with a salad. If it's on the specials menu, give the Chicken Oreganata a shot. I/2 a chicken, loaded with garlic, lemon and of course OREGANO and it comes with a salad as well. Both are steals for the price. Really tasty Chicken Gyro as well. My only negative is that the Tzaziki (sp?) sauce used to have more of a kick before they renovated. The prior sauce was a bit thicker (more yogurt perhaps), was loaded with garlic and had a great bite and zing to it. Wish they would go back to their previous recipe on that. Otherwise, it's still a go to at night when I get off the subway and don't feel like cooking dinner. I've even called when I hit Dyckman Street and have ordered, so that it's ready by the time I reach 231st. Can't go wrong with that! FYI - the place is owned by the family who owns Broadway Pizza and Pasta across the street. Sighs.. I called and placed an order for a chicken wrap. Specifically said " chicken wrap, lettuce, no tomatoes, American cheese, bacon & honey mustard. Since they have a habit of messing up orders, I always double check. Of course there's something missing in my wrap.. it just never fails.. no lettuce. So when I tell the man behind the register that my chicken wrap had no lettuce he told the cook and the cook chopped up lettuce and put it in a container for me to put it myself. I'm paying for my wrap it's not free why should I go home I wrap my wrap to put lettuce in it because they forgot to? This is the 3rd time they do this. The guy who took my order and was behind the register was really mad and was giving me attitude made me feel really uncomfortable. Another topic I wanted to talk about is prices. Honestly I don't know what's up with the price change but one day you go get the wrap it's 7$ one day it's 8 one day it's 9.75. I don't get it. I always get the same things on my chicken wrap. The worse experience at this place, I ordered a rib-eye stake medium well, white eggs, home fries and wheat toast: rib-eye stake came well done, no salt and taste as no fresh meat, home fries no salt and white toast. My husband ordered a pastrami sandwich, it came more bread than meat.
