(Um no that's car washes and storage units). Anyway, Walmart said they'd donate the back parcel for a park. It turned out pretty nice. The first park was destroyed by angry neighbors or neighbor but Walmart rebuilt. Lots of people use it. Dog walkers, sports teams, exercise clubs, families. It has a pavilion for parties and grills for picnics. Plenty of parking too. And we cannot forget CCSO who frequently keep an eye on what's going on there, just to keep the bad folk away.

There was so much wildlife to be heard throughout the night including owls, woodpeckers, and what we think were crickets or maybe lubbers. The bathrooms and shower areas were very clean for a park/camping area. There are different trails to explore along the path to the treehouses, which we didn't have a chance to do. We suggest bringing a sheet or blanket to cover your mattresses. Each treehouse has 2 twin sized bunk beds (total of 4 mattresses). They are VERY uncomfortable, so if you need extra support, you should probably bring a mattress topper/padding. The grills were pretty clean, just need some dusting off before cooking, though, nothing out of the ordinary. Upkeep for everything was great!

Camping facilities include 15 tent sites, two lodges with bunk beds sleeping 16 people per cabin, 9 tree house cabins, each accommodating 4 people, and 7 cabins with bunk beds sleeping 4 - 8 people. Each campsite has a bathhouse with full restroom accommodations and a unit house with electricity including a stove and refrigerator. Located throughout the park and at each campsite are picnic tables and grills for use by campers and park visitors. Just note: Vehicle access is limited & all camping sites and cabins are accessed by walking trails. The park is ideally suited as a natural outdoor environmental education facility when you consider the setting, location, and proximity of diverse upland and wetland ecosystems. Classes and naturalist programs for organized groups and the public will be available in outdoor and indoor classrooms. This is one magical place off the beaten path where you can still interact with wildlife, get a little exercise, enjoy nature, explore the unknown, cool off in the water and at the end of the day, sleep in a tree and still be close to home! ATT has an office building on the plantation grounds. Fleming Island High and Thunderbolt Elementary are also on the grounds, and are two highly rated Clay county schools. A few other businesses are on the grounds of the plantation, like Island Life Grille, but most places are just north in the shopping area of 220. Fleming Island Cinema 12 (Carmike) is an immediate neighbor. The staff at the clubhouse are very courteous and helpful for any of your needs. The organizers send out a monthly "Living in Fleming Island Plantation" paper that includes the events calendar and highlights local businesses. Throughout the year there are mini parades for kids to get involved in and community get togethers at the splash park or club house. Two pools are on the grounds, one with a lap pool and one with a water slide. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic pavilions and a play ground by the club house. There is a large green space behind the splash park, but no pets or bikes/scooters/blades are allowed on the space or the sidewalk so I'm not quite sure why this space exists. Perhaps for ultimate frisbee games... The CDD is just that, a CDD. There is a hefty CDD fee annually in addition to a small HOA depending on which subdivision you live in. The CDD puts those dollars to work though keeping the landscaping clean and up to date. The place is beautiful, though I do need to contact those in charge about a very rough road outside our division. If you want to be involved, you can run for a position on the CDD board. All in all this is a great place to live with ample amenities to suit just about everyone's needs. A bubble in the universe - you really never have to leave if you don't want to!

The nicest playground I have seen in the area so far. There is a water fountain, clean bathrooms and the Clarke House Museum. There are volleyball courts , walking trails and a botanical garden. There are multiple pavilions you can rent for parties or sit under to have a picnic lunch. There is only one thing lacking at this beautiful park..parking. The parking lot is extremely small. If you don't get here early, you have to find somewhere down a side street and walk.
