we walked in mid afternoon 2 o'clock. Two women. An employee is standing at the back of the restaurant with no identifiable T-shirt or clothing to identify him as an employee. On his phone, ignoring myself, my wife and two other ladies that were waiting the restaurant was practically empty. I had to walk all the way up to him and ask are you an employee? He responded yeah - you can sit anywhere - nonchalantly. Next the food, I had clam chowder and a stuffy. It was horrible. The food was horrible. my wife the wings and sweet potato fries & wings the fries tasted greasy like old oil was used & were severely overcooked, as was the wings. The stuff he was tasteless and dry. The chowder was a joke. The ambience in the restaurant is tattered and worn. My wife went to the restroom, the toilet in the restroom is practically falling off the stand it rattles and rolls while you're trying to use the bathroom. overall our experience was horrible. The service was horrible. The ambience was horrible. perhaps if you were in there to drink alcohol, this would be the place. I don't know the bar was empty. Not a place to go to enjoy a nice lunch. If you're here for drinks, it's fab. Nice beers and yummy cocktails. Service was very slow and food was average. Ordered Mozambique mussels but have had better. Salad was lackluster and nachos (bbq one) was mediocre. Total letdown on the apps. Not sure how entrees are. We waited 40 min for 2 apps and 1 salad. Server was new and inexperienced (will not fault her) but shouldn't have to wait 40 mins for a salad tbh. Went during lunchtime on a Tuesday. Maybe they have better dinner service? if I could do anything less than one star, I would!!!!! we were a party of six and only 5 people got there food and it took 20 mins for the last person to get there food and the manger was a total asshole. when getting the last meal to the table, the rest of the table was done eating, so we asked for the food to be boxed up since everyone was already done...the waitress had the manager come speak to us and the manager said because "we wanted the food comped" they would have to take the already boxed meal away. so you mean to tell me, the waitress forgot to put that meal in and when the final meal was brought to us everyone was done.. so because we wanted the food to go, it's restaurant policy to take the food away????? how do you run a business where YOUR staff forgot our meal, and bc we wanted the food to go, you took the food away because we wanted the meal comped??? that's how you run a business????? will not be returning after this experience. read more

When we arrived, there were lots of open tables but we were told they were all reserved. The hostess seemed to not want to bother with us -- she said it was a 90 min wait inside and out -- but a fellow patron said we could sit at the bar, which we did. We noticed that this might have been because we were people of color? And others at the bar were POC. 90min later,There were at least Four tables empty that whole time. At the bar the bartender was great, we enjoyed mussels, scallop and bacon pizza, and burgers. The beer -- we had shipments? I forget, they didn't call them flights-- but all the beer was great. Good 70s-80s music, good food selection. Wish the hostess didn't give us the feeling of being unwelcome. Aside from a possible microagression, this was good food. read more

First off, the best part of the outing was seeing every single server and patron watching the puppy bowl. This honestly might be one of the higlights of my life. Atmosphere wise, very simple and clean: really good music selection. Gets the job done! Food was great, portions are very large so consider sharing the chicken tendys or even the Nashville chicken sandwich. They have odd fries that I didn't love but my husband did. They're very thin cut so most were very crispy. I'm a potatoy lady myself. Beer! Flights were super inexpensive at $10 so the boys were able to try them all. Nothing outstanding but all very good. Really good variety of beers, they have very different selections not just all slightly different flavored IPAs. We aren't from this area but if we found ourself in new Bedford again, we'd definitely be back! read more

Reserved a table here for my boyfriend & I at 6:30 and we were seated immediately. It started to get more crowded as the night went on. The place itself is on the louder side but we had a small table to ourselves so we didn't have much trouble hearing each other. We split the buffalo pub cheese that came with bread and crackers. Super good. I had the vegan Beyond burger and my boyfriend had the fish & chips. Large portions and the fries are amazing. My burger was good however the bun was burnt to a crisp almost. Couldn't finish it but only because I filled up on the appetizer and rum punch. Our server was nice. It started to get busier but we didn't have wait very long in between for our food or drinks. Would come back during the day time to see how it is as opposed to going at night (on a Saturday). Their menu is also extensive with vegetarian and vegan options. Met a friend who I had not seen in years, who is a beer connoisseur, here. Immediately I loved the vibe. We sat and talked and ordered drinks. He ordered the pumpkin beer and I was intrigued by the rim topper.(honey, sugar and cinnamon I think they said) when you sip the beer through the topper you go to heaven immediately. This was so very good. The staff was nice and attentive. We stayed there awhile and caught up and we were not bothered to leave. The food was good but could have been better. The menu needs a little lift in my opinion. The poutine wasn't authentically crafted, in my opinion,but it was good and tasty. My favorite book is now a Brewery too. Dreams really do come true! Seriously, you need to sail your ship down to New Bedford and prepare yourself with a whale of an appetite for some great grub. It's really kind of a perfect place. A great lineup of beers (well, they could use some stout or porter options actually), and a bountiful menu for just about any craving. They have a large bar area, lots of indoor tables, and a healthy supply of outdoor seating too. It's pretty much the whole package. 5 stars for these folks for sure! read more

I was pschyed that New Bedford finally got a brew pub downtown. Super disappointed. It is unforgiveable for a brewery to short pour its drafts and they were not reasonably priced. The food was small. I thought the baked scallops were very tasty, but for the Scallop Capital it was a meagre portion. And only one beer on special? really? The calamari was also tasty, but the side of cole slaw was about the size of a tablespoon. Again, New Bedford is known for decent portions and at their prices, they had better up their game. For now, I'm sticking with their canned ales and waiting to see if they figure out that they have plenty of competition on food in the neighborhood. read more

My husband and I went here ONE time & it was such a horrific experience. The service was horrible. Apparently they don't make "watermelon martinis" "apple martinis" or any other flavored martinis. The waitress didn't even know what watermelon pucker WAS. I asked do you have gin????? I think I finally got a gin and tonic after she went back to the bar 4 times to ask questions. The wait for the food was awful. The nachos were gross. The mac and cheese appeared good on paper but it came out soooo soupy and nasty and not even cheesy. It even had like curdled milk in it or pieces of curdled something in the soup. I could not stomach it, I wanted to throw up. My husband asked the waitress to take it off the bill, she had to go get manager approval so when she came over I explained how gross and watery it was and she took it off, but it was such an unsatisfying. Oh...my...Lanta guys! It has been so damn long since I found a restaurant during covid that could make a proper meal. BUT HERE THEY ARE! I have to say that I am most happily surprised by our revisit to Moby Dick a week later. It was without question the finest steak dinner either of us have ever had. The menu item was the steak tips and my god they were cooked from heaven. The tenderness was just perfection and the flavor was completely sublime. It had superb house mashed potatoes with the skins and unbelievable brussel sprouts. These sprouts were so good, we were talking the next morning about having more of them, and that is just stunning. It is not very often you spend your next morning still going over the dinner from the night before. There were eight or ten beers that were brewed right there and my choices were the Stubbs Smoked Porter at 7.0% and the amazing Eye of the Barrel at 7.2%. Truly stunning beers both were with Eye of the Barrel being completely superb. I have to get a growler of this to bring home it really was so good. I have to say that there is no question this was an immense surprise. I was expecting a good meal but nothing prepared me for what was almost certainly the finest dinner we have had out in years. We will no doubt be returning as soon as we possibly can. read more
