I happened to be at Audio Video discussing a home setup and thought that I would pop inside of Mobile Toys as I just got a new Cadillac CTS and am looking to add more oomph to the stock system. I walked in, there is a display truck (without barriers) sitting in the middle of the showroom and I lightly touched it looking inside (there is a Do Not Touch sign in the bed of the truck that isn't noticeable). A salesperson walked in from the back rudely stating "don't touch that!". No introduction, no hello, no pleasant tone. He asked if he could help me with this scowl. I was in this store a total of about 10 seconds yet with that first impression, I simply turned and walked out. I may do business with Audio Video but the place next door certainly lost my business. You don't treat a prospective customer like that. I would rather have a reputable place in Houston have my business. read more

Drove from Houston to MTI about an 1hr and 30min. Came in for a custom box. Left with Radar and laser system and a custom enclosure. Total came out to around $5600. We set an appointment to get the radar system installed and was told the enclosure would be ready the day of the of the install. Arrived they next week excited to get these things in! Showed up an hour before opening. Once opened guy who was installing the radar system went outside and we reviewed where the Modules would go as desired. Came back in and drop off keys. Left and spent the day in College station waiting for closing time as they said everything would be done. 6pm came around and I arrived 30mins before. While I waited in the car for truck to be done. I saw the same guy who went over the installment of the radar dog my truck from the back of there shop to the parking lot as if it were his. I got out of the vehicle and asked the guy how did the truck run Lol. He disregarded and quickly walked inside. I walk inside to pay the remainder of the balance and while paying the I asked the guys in the front of my box was inside the truck. They replied with "it's not ready, we had to make another" like that wouldn't have been nice to know before driving an 1hr and a half and wasting an entire day there. As I go ahead and finish paying no one explained anything about how the radar worked. Didn't show me where they placed radar, wires or shifters. Only info I got was from the guy dogged the truck and said he turned up the detector and it was ready to go. I finish paying as these guy were anxiously just there waiting to leave and getting me over with. I leave, I noticed that the detector modules were placed somewhere other than the desired place of which we both agreed on. I turn on truck excited to get back home and away as it was very dark. I didn't have a chance to check placement of anything until I got home. I review all the work done and was disappointed to find out the whole radar system was placed improper, wires out in the open, shifters placed wrong and in the open. Control module placed in the wrong placed which I know a hole was made. Enclosure wasn't done to begin with and wasn't notified til literally last min. Sadly my money was spent at the wrong place. I have yet to finish paying partial for the enclosure but only because it was not done!! Definitely not the experience I had in mind. read more

Took my car there to be tinted. The original tint job was fine, however after a few weeks there were still bubbles on the window so I asked to have it replaced. After picking up my car, there were a ton of scratches on the windows which were replaced. They denied that it happened within their shop, however they definitely occurred while my car was not in my possession. There was also damage located on the rubber seals on the window. I would not recommend coming here to get your car windows tinted and I would not trust them with your vehicle. There are more professional places around. read more

I travel 3.5 hours from DFW which has no shortage of car audio, fabrication, and upholstery, off road performance upgrade shops. Thanks to Adam who was professional, friendly, and accommodating when I spoke to him about tinting the windows in my car and fixing a botched installation that had been done on my radio and backup camera. He showed me the different tints and explained what is legal in TX. Thanks to Lance who did a beautiful job on the radio/camera. He was very patient when an issue with my car's convertible top made things much more difficult and time consuming than it needed to be. I brought my vehicle into Mobile Toys a few months ago to get a system installed. They installed the system and it sounds great BUT I've now been dealing with nothing but non stop electrical issues. 3 months after installation the system stops working. I take it back and they tell me I need "this part" so I go and purchase it and bring it BACK a week later and I'm told that wasn't the issue? and I now need a whole new head unit... So they replace the head unit and system works again. ONE MONTH LATER my batteries are dead. Completely fried. So I replace the batteries (2 batteries in a diesel truck) and I'm still having the same issue. Now I'm having a check engine light come out and it turns out my PCM (Powertrain Control module) relay is fried. I take my truck to a local trusted shop which came to find out nothing is Wired correctly with the new head unit... they slapped it together just to get me out of the shop in a hurry. Too be honest, if it were possible I would give them NO STARS at all. - The Owner is extremely rude and unprofessional Over xmas break, my truck was broken into and the theives stole my receiver, sub and amp. Thankfully my insurance company covers that. I had to go through there select service clients, Mobile Toys being the only one here. The first go around, all they had to do was an estimate on the damage and items that were taken. A man named Chris was the one who "greeted" me and immediately began acting like I was wasting his time. It was as if he didn't want my business at all. That or he has no clue what business ethics and common courtesy is. I just thought, maybe he was having a bad day. No big deal. I had an appointment set up, but they denied it and said my insurance company never did even though I had email conformation from both parties. I had to wait an hour for something that takes 10 minutes to do. The second go around... Check this out... I didn't get any of my stereo equipment in that was ordered from my insurance company until Feb 7 (thursday).. I called reminding them who I was and told them my Insurance company has already given yall the payment info all I needed to do was set up an appointment. He said " Im sorry we are swamped until next week". So we set an appointment for Feburary 13 ( wednesday ) . I dont really understand what could be so hard and take so long about reconnecting the wires because everything was already there, and I had identical equipment to replace it. I showed up on Wednesday , Feb 13 to have my stereo installed. Not only was he super rude when he greeted me, yet again, he said I was wrong, that we had an appointment for the previous wednesday at 2pm. I said thats impossible I didnt have my stereo stuff in until that thursday and even showed him my call record on my phone when it was made. His response was, Youre wrong, I remember exactly what happened and it was set for last week. I asked him, so even if it wasset for last week, why wouldn't yall call and ask why i didn't show up or remind me about my appt? He said normally its the other way around. Then walked away. He didn't even ask to set another appointment!!!! STAY AWAY from this place. It sucks and the owner is a irresponsible, unethical jerk. read more

After reading some of these reviews on here, I felt compelled to post my experience with Mobile Toys. I've been to MT several times over the course of the past 3 years for one reason: they know what they are doing. Having been to hundreds of different car audio shops over the course of about 6 years, I can say that Mobile Toys is one of the most professional, courteous, high quality shops in the state of Texas. There is no place in college station that even comes close to what these guys can do. Keep in mind: this is not some fly-by-night car stereo shop for people wanting to throw a bunch of nonsense audio equipment in their car, these guys are PROFESSIONAL audio installers. They go to competitions, are active on several renowned car audio internet sites, have real talent and skills, and strive to go the extra mile for their customers. In an industry that's been overrun with amateur dealers/installers and uninformed customers, these guys are patient, reasonable, understanding, and helpful above all else. Doubt their professionalism? From the minute you walk in, I encourage you to take 30 minutes to go over the finite details of one of the most intricate and impressive cars I've ever seen sitting right in their lobby. That car is a testament to the level of work these guys perform. Their work is nothing short of top-notch. Expensive? Yes. But when paying for custom install work, you get what you pay for. Enough babbling, onto my most recent experience: I was getting some custom A-pillar mounts built for my car. Having never fiber-glassed myself, I wanted to spend the money on a professional job that could be done in a reasonable amount of time. We set an appointment, I walked in and dropped off my car, and they were done within 6 hours. Their level of quality would have taken me weeks, maybe months to perfect the install. LED non-OEM headlight on my truck went out day before a long drive, and the lights were all installed after-market at a place in the northeast where I used to live. Brought it to these folks hoping to get it repaired before hitting the road. Appeared to just be some corrosion on a connection, so they cleaned it and had me on my way in less than 10 minutes...no charge! Told me they can hardwire it if it happens again, but will hopefully get me through for the time being. Totally could have talked me into a bigger job upfront if they wanted to and refused $ even though I offered twice. Between their honesty and good service with me, as well as the other reviews, I would definitely give these folks my business if I need more work done. read more

Excellent quality workmanship. I've had speakers installed, custom fabrication done, window tinting on multiple vehicles, and sometimes I just go in to listen to their speakers. Every time I've been in they have been friendly and knowledgeable. Just as importantly, every time I've been in they've done exceptional work on my vehicle. The best place to get audio work down on a car or house. Just stopped in to get some more work done, can't say enough good things about it. When I first purchased my Nissan 350Z, the first thing on the list was to pull out the crappy head unit, and replace it with a touch screen Pioneer unit. Chris, and the crew were very knowledgeable about my car and even allowed me to watch during the install (as I'm super anal about my car). Each interior panel was removed with care, and put back just as they were meant to be. That was 2 years ago, and the head unit is still working perfectly. I'm looking forward to upgrading my speakers with them as soon as I get a chance too. Also to add, they installed a head unit, speakers, and window tint in my little brothers Toyota MR2, all of which was done by the date and time discussed, and were installed perfectly. Mobile Toys IS the best car audio and custom audio shop in the Bryan / College Station area. I heard these guys were the best, so gave them a call and scheduled an appointment for a fairly simple install: 1 amp, some front door speakers, and a sub. I drove the 100mi to show up at 8am, and got a little carried away in their show room and ended up deciding on a 3 amp install with 8 channels actively controlled on a DSP. Without hesitation Chris and his crew put in a 15-hr day to complete the install so that I could make it back home that day. Not a single detail was skipped, not a corner was cut. Custom parts were manufactured on CNC machines as I watched, while in parallel other guys were hand fabricating parts in their impressive "wood shop". The only hole drilled in my nearly brand new truck was for an out-of-site sub preout control knob, everything else mounted to factory locations using custom fabricated panels. Even for a trained eye, it's hard to tell this truck isn't stock until you hear it, which was a primary goal of mine: breathtaking sound in a stock looking package. Once the physical install was complete, Chris set out in his meticulous and OCD (in the best possible way) ways to get it dialed in. He started with baseline measurements from drivers head to each of the 8 speakers, then did some "seat of the pants" tuning of his own which can only be described as watching a master at work. He then had me come play some typical tracks that I'd listen to, then kicked me out of the truck to finish tweaking the tune based on my preferences. End result? One of the most amazing sounding stereos I've ever heard (and definitely best I've ever owned) while maintaining the stock appearance of the truck. I can sit here and try to get all wax lyrical about how it sounds, but that's better experienced in person. To use one word I would have to go with "PHENOMINAL" but so many other synonyms come to mind as easy choices. I took a gamble making a 100mi drive to visit a shop I'd never been to, but it paid out big. I wouldn't trust anyone else to put their hands on my vehicles when it comes to audio. World class parts, install, fabrication skills, and tuning, these guys are awesome! read more

I am very picky so I took the time to drive 3 hours about three months ago where he gave me a detailed rundown of what Mobile Toys does along with answered all of my questions. I was not prepared to buy that day bcs I wanted to make sure I had time to process all the information he provided me. I probably called Tyler 5-6 times after that in-person visit with more questions about potential setups along with brand differences and pricing. This man is extremely patient and professional dealing with me calling multiple times. The quality and speed were excellent. I was really disappointed in the price though. I was told 250 on the phone but when I got the bill it was over 450. When we called the next day about the big difference, it was because I wasn't clear about what I wanted, even though I was VERY clear on the phone when the job was quoted. I had Mobile Toys install an AppRadio 2 into my 370Z and build me a custom dock for my iPhone back in 2012. That install went pretty smoothly and I was very pleased. I switched to a Prius C and had them install an AppRadio 3. There were some issues getting my iPhone to work with the AppRadio 3 (for which I blame Pioneer). After not being able to figure it out and causing stress for myself and probably taking up way too much of these guys' time, Chris agreed to take back the AppRadio 3 (and related parts) after three months and did a custom install of a Nexus 7 in the dash. It attaches by magnets, charges wirelessly and uses Bluetooth. Very sweet. I was impressed by their customer service. read more

A little bit about myself. I compete in Car Audio, I am a certified Sound Quality judge in two separate Sound off organizations. I also live in Oklahoma. That being said, I am very particular about who works on my vehicles. At a show, I saw the system in this Civic, and had a chance to talk with the owner, Chris. After a long discussion, I knew I had found my shop and installer. Little did I know that Chris was the owner of the shop as well. When I arrived in College Station (a 7hr drive), Chris took my car in the back, and the tear down started immediately. I had already used sound deadening in my car, so they started running wires nearly immediately. Over the course of the weekend, they had created a custom installation that many people ooo'd and ahhh'd over at different shows. But as nice as the install was, the sound was more than what I expected. Chris not only installed the equipment I had, but I bought 3 amps and some new tweeters for this system. When he finished the install, he tuned it for me too. It was then that I knew I had found an installer for life. This place is the place to go if you want to get service that is unbeatable. Chris and his crew are experts in there profession and are very much about what you want and not what they want. He will do everything under the sun to make sure your questions have been answered and that you understand what you are buying. He is straight forward, some might find that off-putting but, that's because he knows what he's doing and has your best interest at heart. More importantly, I think, is that he has a great deal of integrity and will correct any mistake/issue that might have came to light without any hassle whatsoever. I had a ground wire come lose, pretty much because its a tiny gauge wire that came with an LED kit I bought elsewhere, but he was more than willing to have his guys look at it. They did and fixed it so that lil wire aint coming loose now. He wont bullshit you about how much something is or how great it might be when its not. For me, he told me I wouldn't get the bass I was looking for from just 6.5 speakers, I'll get awesome midbass and treble but not actual bass in which I am getting but will be putting on some 8's soon. His suggestion of the Focals was spot on and more so because I told him I was on a budget and he helped me stay in my target area by letting me know the Illusions would be a bit higher than what I was looking for and for my purposes. But he helped me reach my needs and not his. He is very patient, educates you per your questions and will do his best to accommodate everyone that walks into his store and lets them lead the way with some suggestions where appropriate. read more
