Drove from Houston to MTI about an 1hr and 30min. Came in for a custom box. Left with Radar and…read morelaser system and a custom enclosure. Total came out to around $5600. We set an appointment to get the radar system installed and was told the enclosure would be ready the day of the of the install. Arrived they next week excited to get these things in! Showed up an hour before opening. Once opened guy who was installing the radar system went outside and we reviewed where the Modules would go as desired. Came back in and drop off keys. Left and spent the day in College station waiting for closing time as they said everything would be done. 6pm came around and I arrived 30mins before. While I waited in the car for truck to be done. I saw the same guy who went over the installment of the radar dog my truck from the back of there shop to the parking lot as if it were his. I got out of the vehicle and asked the guy how did the truck run Lol. He disregarded and quickly walked inside. I walk inside to pay the remainder of the balance and while paying the I asked the guys in the front of my box was inside the truck. They replied with "it's not ready, we had to make another" like that wouldn't have been nice to know before driving an 1hr and a half and wasting an entire day there. As I go ahead and finish paying no one explained anything about how the radar worked. Didn't show me where they placed radar, wires or shifters. Only info I got was from the guy dogged the truck and said he turned up the detector and it was ready to go. I finish paying as these guy were anxiously just there waiting to leave and getting me over with. I leave, I noticed that the detector modules were placed somewhere other than the desired place of which we both agreed on. I turn on truck excited to get back home and away as it was very dark. I didn't have a chance to check placement of anything until I got home. I review all the work done and was disappointed to find out the whole radar system was placed improper, wires out in the open, shifters placed wrong and in the open. Control module placed in the wrong placed which I know a hole was made. Enclosure wasn't done to begin with and wasn't notified til literally last min. Sadly my money was spent at the wrong place. I have yet to finish paying partial for the enclosure but only because it was not done!! Definitely not the experience I had in mind.

Jack's stereo is two worlds in one place…read more It's a run-down car stereo place that looks and feels like it's run by that guy that used to hang out with your older brother but just stopped the one day and all the adults whispered about him and his family in hushed tones at block parties. Yet provides a high level of service and attention. Old couches made up the "waiting room" and a dying projection big screen was playing Knight and Day on a DVD. Brilliant. I'd made an appointment for tinting, I kept in touch with the shop as the appointment got closer to make sure everything was all good for the appointment (which was also my lunch hour) and the gent asked me if I could come more towards the later half of the appointment, which was fine by me. It pays to ask. As far as tint...they used 3M film that's warranted nationwide (and legal in Texas). It was applied to two windows in under an hour. That was enough time to walk over and get Jimmy Johns and watch Tom Cruise play the hero to a slightly taller Cameron Diaz. It looks great on my car and if it ever stops looking great, they tell me they'll fix it...and I believe it. I know I'll be doing some shopping for electronics in the near future, and I'll start at Jacks...you should too.

They have a IDGAF attitude. You might get a fake friendliness if they think you're going to buy something. Unprofessional. No customer service. And terrible work that will fail. Do you really want people cutting and drilling into your car with thier reputation and reviews? Imagine them messing up your on board computer and suddenly your car won't start and you have to get it towed to a dealership and spend $1000 to get it fixed assuming they didn't burn up the computer with the wiring (then that's REALLY going to cost you!) I grew up here. There hasn't been a good car audio shop in this town for years. Better to check out somewhere in the Woodlands area or maybe Austin.

These fellas are kind, understanding, professional, hardworking, reliable, etc. I'll go on in this review to explain how an installation with multiple hiccups and hurdles proved that The Car Audio Shop deserves five stars. ---------------- ANDROID HEAD UNITS ---------------- I ordered a beautiful 12" Android head unit and asked TCAS to install it. Nick initially refused, mentioning customers are never satisfied with them and neither are they. I paid for them to put it in after the warning, and I saw what they meant. It didn't work with steering wheel controls, sounded awful, etc. I hated it on day one of install and scheduled my next visit that day. ---------------- STINGER HEAD UNITS ---------------- TCAS only sells and installs what they put in their own vehicles, and I understand why. This Stinger head unit has my 2016 4Runner feeling more like a 2026. Everything works and integrates well, and the sound quality is incredible. ---------------- COST ---------------- $100/hr. Don't let this scare you. Whenever I stopped in for surprise visits over the days they had my 4Runner, there were almost always two or all three working on it at the same time. ---------------- WORK ETHIC ---------------- Find a chair in their shop. I triple dog dare you. When these guys are on the task, they're working and working hard. ---------------- WORK WARRANTY ---------------- Unfortunately for me, the dash cam rear view mirror main unit and one camera were faulty. The manufacturer sent me a replacement and TCAS worked 5 hours at no cost to me on a Saturday to get me fixed up.
