One year ago, someone else was called to replace my damaged Nest but they couldn't achieve the connection so had to purchase a Ring which was not the same. Aggieland S.H. knew exactly what was needed to swamp it out; amazing. They made it look easy which I knew wasn't. They also connected the camera to the birdfeeder which I greatly appreciated. If there is anything needed in the future, these two will be my go-to for help.

It turned out to be a fiasco! (It started on a Wednesday) He ran the drops but did not understand the instructions for using the Aruba wireless/ HPe access point mounting kits (part number: AP-220-MNT-W2W). In the process, he cut up and damaged one of the mounts as well as made over 8 screw holes in my ceiling. When he was "complete" he quickly took my check and left. Within the first hour of his departure, the AP's received power via POE, but no data. I immediately called and texted him about the issue. He assured me that he was currently going to his next job, but would return the following day (Thursday). The next morning, I texted him at around 8:30 am to confirm he would return that day to correct the cabling issues. I received a reply, that he was indeed planning on returning that day to fix things. At 2:22 pm, I once again texted him to see what the ETA was on returning. His reply was that he was finishing up a job and would text me when he was on the way. At 6:33 pm, I received no calls or texts, so I once again texted him to see if he was indeed still coming. The reply was "I'm heading to pull footage for the cops", whatever that means..... After that text, I never received a call or text again. Fast forward to Sunday, where I had to hire another cabler to come in and fix this guys shotty work. In short, he made several unnecessary holes in my ceiling, cut up and damaged an AP mount kit, and literally mis-wired the RJ-45 end connectors. He literally flipped the pinouts from left to right. In short, clearly, this guy is a jack-leg who doesn't know what he is doing with regards to Cat5 drops, RJ-45, Ethernet, and keystone connectors. He tried to take the "money and run", so I had to put a stop payment on the check.

Successfully filed for default judgment. Reached out early November in hopes of getting paid something. He promises to write a check but doesn't say how much it's for. A month goes by and no check. His response was "I thought you had received it". Yeah right. Then he says he will drop it off at my house that day. Again no check. Now he's saying he didn't mail it because I wrote a bad review and if I want any money at all I have to delete the review. Wonder how many other people he's pulled this with? This man has not kept his word to me so many times I'm losing count.

I went into my local stores first--as I always try to do to support local businesses--but they didn't have the model he needed. Staff recommended ordering online through Best Buy, which I did, purchasing a Dell with the required specs for an engineering student. Total cost: approximately $2,500. Within the first year, the computer completely failed three separate times. Each time, it was shipped out for repair. Each time, it came back and failed again. And each time, I was told some version of: "If this happens again, we'll replace it." Well, here we are again. This time, when the same failure occurred, I was suddenly told that we had "run out of time" and replacement was no longer an option. I attempted to escalate. I asked to speak with the manager, Cody--who never showed. I then spoke with Zach and Justin. They were polite, but it was clear they did not have the tools, authority, or training to deal with what is obviously a lemon product. Instead, I was given excuses that directly contradicted what I had been told multiple times before. I won't repeat the excuses here. What matters is this: * Best Buy failed to stand behind the product * Best Buy failed to honor what their own employees repeatedly promised * And when accountability was required, Best Buy disappeared This is exactly how local retail dies--not because of online competition, but because customers lose trust. A $2,500 computer that fails repeatedly should not become the customer's problem to absorb. This was handled poorly, inconsistently, and without integrity. I expected better. I will not be shopping here again. -- Jim Ross
