The only reason this place has stayed open is because of its location and each semester there is a new group of students that don't know the reputation. Staff is rude. They have a IDGAF attitude. You might get a fake friendliness if they think you're going to buy something. Unprofessional. No customer service. And terrible work that will fail. Do you really want people cutting and drilling into your car with thier reputation and reviews? Imagine them messing up your on board computer and suddenly your car won't start and you have to get it towed to a dealership and spend $1000 to get it fixed assuming they didn't burn up the computer with the wiring (then that's REALLY going to cost you!) I grew up here. There hasn't been a good car audio shop in this town for years. Better to check out somewhere in the Woodlands area or maybe Austin. read more

I went in with an "amp failure" message on my radio. So I was sold a new in dash radio. then after 3.5 hours of installation I was told that one of my speakers were shorted out that did all the damage. Soooo, I was sold 4 door speakers. After another 2.5 hours of installation time (6 hours total) finally got speakers working. but my radio was not mounted correctly. Now another 30 mins to get it mounted correctly. Left the shop and stop at store and when I started my car radio came on with no sound. "amp failure". called them and now was told I had a bad groumett. so I purchased $1249 worth of equipment and ended up with the same problem. Minus my rear camera not working anymore. read more

The waiting area was nothing fancy but that really shouldn't matter. I'd much rather have good service than a good waiting room. The price for installation was very fair. I called them to ask about what kind of 3M film they carry but the guy said that he doesn't have time to look this up and hung up. I called back and promptly canceled my scheduled appointment for window tinting. Prior to this call, he had quoted me a price without stating what kind of 3M film he was gonna apply. There are a few types of film available ranging from base, color guard, ceramic, metallized, and crystalline. They differ in their durability, GPS/cell phone interference, etc. So I want to know what I am paying for, which I think is reasonable and prudent to ask. read more

Jack's stereo is two worlds in one place. It's a run-down car stereo place that looks and feels like it's run by that guy that used to hang out with your older brother but just stopped the one day and all the adults whispered about him and his family in hushed tones at block parties. Yet provides a high level of service and attention. Old couches made up the "waiting room" and a dying projection big screen was playing Knight and Day on a DVD. Brilliant. I'd made an appointment for tinting, I kept in touch with the shop as the appointment got closer to make sure everything was all good for the appointment (which was also my lunch hour) and the gent asked me if I could come more towards the later half of the appointment, which was fine by me. It pays to ask. As far as tint...they used 3M film that's warranted nationwide (and legal in Texas). It was applied to two windows in under an hour. That was enough time to walk over and get Jimmy Johns and watch Tom Cruise play the hero to a slightly taller Cameron Diaz. It looks great on my car and if it ever stops looking great, they tell me they'll fix it...and I believe it. I know I'll be doing some shopping for electronics in the near future, and I'll start at Jacks...you should too. read more

This is a sad story with a happy ending. I was forced to take the tint off my windows during my inspection (not at Jack's). After my tint was taken off, my windows were unbelievably sticky and the felt lining inside my window completely came out of the door - I didn't even know that was possible. I stopped by Jack's after being referred to them by an employee at O'Reilly who had the pleasure of listening to me whine about "Tint Gate," which is to what I had started referring the whole asinine situation. Let me tell you, the people at Jack's were wonderful! They gave me a great deal that included cleaning my windows, putting a new (legal) tint back on and fixing the felt situation. Every employee that I spoke to was so nice and genuinely helpful. As a woman, I've definitely been given the run-around in auto stores and I didn't get that impression at all from the staff at Jack's. My tint looks great and comes with a lifetime warranty which is assuring. If needed, I won't mind going back! read more

I called to schedule an appointment to have my car's Windows tinted. The person that answered the phone sounded like he didn't want to be there and told me that they only did window tinting on trucks. When I asked him to make sure because they did another car of mine about a year ago he stated he was "pretty they only do trucks", and didn't even bother to make sure. That's fine, I will gladly give my money to somebody who is willing to do the job correctly. I would say go somewhere else. read more

Jack stereos gave me a quote for $200 to tint my wife's suv. My appointment was scheduled for 10 am today. I was about 15 min. early. The tint guy was late and I am currently still here 3 and a half hours later waiting. There is no reason for it to take this long to tint a vehicle. I'm am very unsatisfied. The only good thing to come out of it is I'm getting a discount because it is taking so long. read more

Good: The staff was friendly, it only took half an hour to install window tint on one window, and the price was very reasonable. Bad: The tint on another window (not the one I was getting tint applied to) was scraped off in a couple of spots. When asked about it, the staff denied creating the scratches in tint, saying they were there when I brought my car in. I know they weren't there before. read more

We go in to get a wiring harness for my car and the guy working tried to charge me 130 for the harness. After my cousin told him it shouldn't cost that much, the man working looked again and noticed that he told me the wrong thing. Then I brought in my new stereo and he said that I would need a certain one. We go home and spend 2 hours trying to hook it up and it still isn't the right one. My cousin asked him more than twice if that was the only thing we needed and he said that that was the only cord I needed. read more

This has always been my go-to car audio and tint shop. Until I walked in last week and was told that the Store Manager who had been an employee there for over 20 years walked out! !! He's been the one taking care of me & anything I needed for the past 4years and now he's gone! Wtf? I mean the other employees are OK but when you've been treated like family and had every request taken care of no matter what and then poof nada!?! So I go in there with my own speakers and amp, new to the whole speaker installation and stuff because in my old truck i could not do anything with it. And they were nice and sorta helpful at first and I had them install my two 12s and amp. I get them and they sounded funny and weren't really banging. So I go to a friend who is knowledgeable on the speaker game. He tells me one of my 12s is blown and one is on the way out. So I call jacks stereo irritated because they could have been professional and mentioned to me that one of my speakers was blown. And the man who answered the phone began to get loud with me and cussing at me claiming I was talking to him like an F##### child and Im referring to him as a dumb### but I was speaking to him in a calm tone and explaining the situation but he didn't like that so he yelled a little more and told me bye. SO all in all i would not recommend them to anyone or ever go back. read more
