I was thinking a lot about whether or not to write this review, but I do want other pet parents and the business owner to know of my feedback. I contacted this place because of the many good reviews, but after my experience I wouldn't do business here again. Look at the low rating reviews to help you decide if you want to move forward with this business. On 10/06 we unfortunately found that our turtle, Shelby, had passed away overnight. He was one of our first few pets and was the only reptile we had. So I don't know much about reptile cremations but I started calling around for a quote. Mobile pet cremations picked up quickly and he was able to give me a quote of $225 for the cremation of a turtle about the size of my hand, an urn with engraving, and an imprint of his feet. (I had no problem with the price, just wanted to be transparent about the service I recieved from here) I reallyyyy wanted to mention that the first phone call gave me weird vibes, as in it felt like a business transaction (yes, i know it technically is). It's hard to really describe the phone call but right off the bat was basically like "here is the hefty price, thanks bye" and I guess it just shocked me? I'm not sure what I expected. All the places were around the same price (taking size into consideration) but I went forward with Mobile Pet cremations because of the urgency. The owner was nice enough to accommodate our request for same day service and we planned a time to meet somewhere on his route. I really want to emphasize my distress from the loss of our Shelby, so the events that followed really just had me confused. The owner had us meet somewhere 45 min away from where we lived (it was our choice to have same day service so we were willing to drive this far), however the location was very vague and we were only given an address. AGAIN, there's nothing particularly wrong with this but it did make me feel off about the whole situation. He described that he would be in a white van and we'll see him. The address was just to a gas station where we met up with him. There, we picked out the color of the urn we want and he let me know that the urn we picked would take a little longer (again, very vague on estimated time). On 10/12, I texted the owner what I wanted engraved; SHELBY and the date we got him to when he passed. I order engraved things a lot and usually whatever you send is exactly the way they would engrave it, so you have to really watch out for spelling errors before sending. On 10/20, I texted asking for an update, to which he let me know, "I should have a better idea at the end of the day". I waited but didn't get another update until 10/22. PLEASE refer to my screenshots, because this exchange was literally the most frustrating part. It shouldn't be the customer's job to check in or guess everything. On 10/23, when we picked him up, his urn said "Shelby" with no date on it. I really wanted it to be all caps and I especially wanted the dates on there. I asked if there was a proboem with the date and he said "No it was just too many characters and I can only do 10", to which i replied with "Oh, how come you didn't let me know? I could have changed it". He just told me "he didn't think about that". This urn was supposed to be Shelby's forever home.. The thing that made me the most upset was that he literally just said "Oh idk I didn't think to ask, I didn't think you would mind" (i cannot even lie about this) We drove an hour to pick up Shelby and came only to be disappointed with the urn engraving we paid $225 (no delivery fee or pick up fee because we had to drop him off ourselves and pick him up from the owner's location). I couldn't afford to pay the delivery fee so we decided to just pick up Shelby ourselves. It's not his fault that we had to pick Shelby up ourselves, but i just wanted to note that the drive there was frustrating just to be disappointed when we arrived ... Things I want to note, i totally understand that this person is VERY busy and I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, however, I still expect communication between the business and the customer/client. From the beginning he was constantly very vague about everything in the process, I consider this unprofessional. I'm glad the whole exchange is over, but I was really itching to write this review. Overall, thank you Mobile Pet Cremations for getting Shelby ready for us within 17 days. Everything was packaged neatly in a white bag. The urn was wrapped in a nice pouch and Shelby's ashes were in a pouch inside of the urn as well. I like that the urn was the color we expected and it also had a screw-on lid so it was very secure. The impression was nice to have, he was able to get Shelby's feet on there and it came in a secured box to protect it. My beautiful 13 year old pittie passed away back in June. He was my childhood dog and meant the world to me. It was extremely important that I find a cremation service I could trust. I was absolutely paranoid that I would not receive his ashes back. I've read horror stories of people not receiving their pet's ashes back because of a mixup or people ordering private cremations and getting communal cremations instead. Blake assuaged my concerns and went above and beyond to make sure I was updated every step throughout the process. He even offered to take a photo of my boy before the cremation because he knew how worried I was. He was sensitive to my grieving and asked if there was someone else he could text the photo to and would make sure to send a 'warning' text to lessen the shock. I know objectively how crazy or strange a photo request is but it was important I knew that I was indeed receiving my dog's ashes back. Pricing was extremely reasonable for picking up my dog, a private cremation, and hand-delivery of the urn. I am so grateful Blake answered the phone on the worst day of my life. I was able to schedule a pick up with a couple hours notice and the turn around for receiving my dog's ashes back was lightening quick. I got him back in less than a week, and it was through Fourth of July weekend. From other reviews I've read, it takes a few weeks plus at other cremation services. Other things to note, Blake asked if there were any things I wanted to cremate with my dog like pictures. I gave him pictures and a shirt I'd always wear. It was healing to know I was sending my dog off with a piece of me. This is not a service any of us want to use. However, it's something we all need. I sincerely appreciate finding a trustworthy business especially when there are tons of businesses that take advantage of people in a time like this. Lumi had been with us in since 2011. We travelled together from US to Taiwan and back to US. She always companies us in her way, elegant, quietly, and lovely. We don't know her age exactly since we adopted her, guess she is over 15 years old or so. She was not feeling that healthy as before, the situation turned good and bad for couple months. The vet arrived and explained the process, telling us to make our "Piggy" as comfortable as possible, including giving him his favorite treats (note the vet even sampled one of the cookies himself). With his stomach full of treats, he went into his usual heavy snoring pattern, indicating he was asleep, and had drifted off to his final home.
