VERY TIDY STATION w/ WEIRD VIBES! I'm appreciative when a station like Morro Bay's Mobil is organized, clean, and accessible. However, the attendant had the dirtiest look on his face and was not welcoming. The station was strangely quiet and the he was staring at all the customers with a mean look. The "tourist" merchandise was very Walmart good ol' boy meets Duck Dynasty, it didn't seem to match the environment or vibes of Morro Bay. It was overpriced, kinda cheap, and frankly not worth a purchase. Gas was decent (for Morro Bay) and the restroom was exceptionally clean. We only bought gas and a drink so we didn't request special services. read more

Morro Bay Mobil is just off Highway 1 at the Morro Bay Boulevard exit. Generally, this Mobil tends to rival the fuel prices throughout the county, including SLO. The station is generally very clean & well maintained. The on-site convenience store is well-stocked with refreshments & snacks. Face coverings are required to enter the store. There is an excellent automatic car wash on site. One receives a discount on a car wash if 8 or more gallons of fuel is purchased. Mobil has a rewards program, where one earns 3-cents per gallon in points spent on fuel. If one purchases certain items in their convenience store, one may earn double the usual award amount. The Exxon Mobil Rewards program is free to join. read more

Bought over a $100 in fuel and a car wash at the pump. Went to wash my car and waited forever as 5 cars were in front of me. When I got to the kiosk it asked for a "code" I entered every group of numbers on the receipt and nothing worked. Since people were in line behind me I put my credit card in and got the wash. When I went inside to get refunded the manager got snippy with me. Told me I should have come back in? I did get my refund. Not the managers fault- it's the owners. No excuse for putting employees and customers thru this horrible experience. read more

I have been solely using this gas station for years. I get my coffee in the mornings as well as my gas year round. I understand summer is crazy and can be frustrating because its tourist season but the person working the counter left me standing there while they socialized in the back room. When I spoke up I was told that I hadnt been standing there long...huh? I am so put off I will not be back. Hey mobile you may be busy now but once its off season the regulars are what keeps doors open and you just lost one. GOOD GAS PRICE, TERRIBLE CAR WASH PROS - Best price on gas, credit card same price as cash, close to freeway. CONS - The car wash was an absolute joke. It takes only one car at a time, and each car takes about 6 - 7 minutes (took about a half hour from getting in line to driving out of the wash bay), and the $8 "premium" wash left the tires filthy and the entire car wet - the air "nozzles" were all but useless, and it took another 10 minutes to adequately DRY the car by hand... DO NOT USE THEIR CAR WASH. I wanted a refund after the car wash broke down on me, and the store clerk, Elizabeth, was one of the most cranky, nasty persons I have ever met. She kept refusing to refund me, telling me it's not the gas stations fault, but the car in front of me. Here's what happened: The car in front of me finished with the wash, but the message board kept telling him to stay there. Then it kept telling him to back up. Eventually, the machine started back up again, at which point he left. The machine never gave him a green light to go - that's why I think it's the machine's fault, not his. After the car in front of me left, I drove into the wash area but the machine stopped and it would not start up, I then backed up and tried to re-enter my code. It wouldn't take it. I tell all of this to the clerk, and she keeps asking me, "and why is this our fault?" and "I can only give you another code, I can't give you a refund without the manager." She kept blaming the car in front of me for using my code, and that he shouldn't have backed up, and I kept telling her that the machine told him to do so, it never told him to leave the area. Eventually she did give me a refund. I didn't want to come back to a faulty car wash and waste another 20 minutes of my day. She left me with this final zinger, "Just don't come back again since you don't like our car wash." No apologies. No admission to guilt. She did admit that this was a common problem and many others have asked for a refund for the same issue. They really need to fix this problem rather than blame the users. read more

I just used Morro Bay Mobil's automatic car wash, and it damaged my passenger side mirror (which had been folded back to protect it). Apparently the brush mechanisms were too strong. I went to the clerk and explained, and was told: "It says 'at your own risk', so there is nothing that can be done." I then asked to see the manager, and she went into an adjacent room to talk to him, and then told me "He is unavailable, so if you need to talk to him, come back tomorrow". I had seen the manager in the store a few moments before, and he clearly could have been "available" if he were willing to speak to me. I told the clerk they had just lost a long term customer (I had been going there for fuel for a decade). If I were to venture a guess, this mirror problem has happened at Morro Bay Mobil before. The car is a VW EOS, and the mirror is similar to that used on many passenger cars. read more

Be careful, they recently implemented the cash/credit price difference model, I suppose it is to "compete" with the Valero across the street that did that a little while back. Of course, their main lighted sign shows the CASH price and it is a little sign on the ground that shows the new price differences. I am not sure the main sign even reads CASH, at least Valero does that. I was filling up this morning when a woman noticed the difference and when she asked she was told that they are now CASH/CREDIT pricing. She got in her car and stormed off. Unfortunately I had already filled up not noticing the price difference for credit/debit. The bottom line is that I will fill up at whatever the cheaper price is between the two stations, I am not dedicated to the Mobil brand, although it is nice to earn Plenti points (although I don't know how I can redeem them!!). I do wash my car here and about once a month I fill up to get the discount for the carwash. If this station really wants to compete with Valero they need to match their prices, or be lower. Why would anyone fill up at a station that is more expensive? I suppose if they are earning credit card points? I always wonder this about the expensive Chevron down by 41, too. If people are paying cash, they will most likely use the old Arco station with the new owners because they are cash only and are usually cheaper than the cash options at the other 2 stations at the top of the Boulevard. UPDATE: They no longer take Plenti points, they have their own points card now. Also, shortly after writing this original review Valero also started the same style of pricing. I guess it is the way they will all be now. Other updates are that Valero became Shell and always has the same price as Mobil for credit/debit. And, now I have another station to choose from when I am filling up at the traffic circle - Sinclair took over the Arco and is always 2 cents cheaper if you use credit/debit than both Mobil and Shell!! read more

The gas may be ok but don't get your car washed here. Their machine tears up bumpers and they won't settle, even to the point where the owner refuses service for a small claims court action. Not a good way to run a consumer business. Note there are other reviews with this same gist. Wish I'd have read those before getting my car washed there. read more

Super cool and friendly people running this place. I have been buying my gas and diesel here for about nine months and although they are the least expensive in the area I go there because they are always nice when I go inside and get a cup of ice, they have two types of ice available and I chomp on ice habitually so it's awesome that they have softened nugget ice , it's very pure and won't hurt your teeth. I don't always get a soda because it's not my thing but I have and they have a great selection. read more

The truth is that they all have nice facilities. There is a Valero that is generally 2 cents cheaper but rest of the time they are all the same price. The gas in Morro Bay is far cheaper than any place I saw around Central Coast. On 4/27/19 I paid $4.10. It would have been $4.00 with cash. Cambria was $4.99. Pismo Beach and Los Osos was about $4.40. read more

Regular gas is priced the highest of the three on this corner, premium a lot of times is less. The gas is fine every time I have been. If it was based on the fuel alone and the store this would be a four or five star review. The store is clean and has a good selection. They carry lottery tickets and have everything else you would expect from a service station including a bathroom. Today while getting gas, I decided to go here because I wanted to surprise the wife with a carwash. So I filled up and they give you a dollar off the carwash price of $8 for The Works which I purchased. I finished getting fuel, then waited 15 minutes in the car wash line and it was my turn. I entered the code which it accepted and when it turned green drove in. The wash started and then abruptly stopped. I tried to go forward but couldn't. I finally called the clerk to explain the situation. He said he would be out. A few minutes later he surfaced, and in a less than happy manner had me back up. He then gave me a new code which was for a Basic Wash. I explained to him that I had upgraded at the pump to the premium wash. He was then agitated and basically made me feel I was majorly inconveniencing him. I said I would just settle for that wash and come in for a refund and he acted confused. I opted to just leave after the basic wash as I did not want to bother him more or wait to go around again. So 1 star for the car wash. Also many times before the basic wash has left my car less that clean even after going through a second time so it had been a very long time since I returned. So that makes it 2.5 stars, so 2 or 3, the reason I am going with 3 is because of this businesses involvement in the community. At school fundraisers I have heard them donate which is appreciate. Not sure what can be done about the car wash and I know being a clerk at a gas station can be a thankless job but there is some room for improvement. Also the paper towel dispenser near the pump was unable to dispense towels and the window washers were in poor shape. At the highest price I would expect a little more. read more

While visiting CA... We stopped here at the Morro Mobil for diesel fuel ... Used the 'green' handle pump for diesel fuel and put $80 in our tank. We pulled out and within a few minutes our truck was knocking terribly. We were sure we had gotten bad gas. We made it to the closest town with diesel and topped off ..just trying to make it back to Visalia...where we were staying. We took our truck to the Ford dealership in Visalia and they told us there was regular gas in the tank! They are trying to save our engine ($1000) by flushing & a new fuel filter...but not sure yet. After talking to manager at the Morro Mobil on duty the next day... He implied that we had put regular gas in our diesel truck. That did not happen! My husband & I were both at this pump and it was a green handle diesel pump! We are going to report this incident to the state. What a sad & costly ending to a very pleasant visit to CA. It's left us with a very bad memory and will deter a future visit. Customers beware! It's one star because I had no other choice! It should be none... No one there cares! read more
