I could never find one so I would always try to save my work for when I travel to Florida because I have such a mechanic there, but now I'm going to Tyrone32 for anything I need done when I'm in NYC. The reason: Orlando. I had a check engine light on. I had been calling around asking different shops if they run complimentary computer scans and general pricing for evap system issues, as I knew that was likely the culprit for my light. A few of the shops I called were kind of rude over the phone and didn't really want to spend any time answering questions. I came across Tyrone32 as I was driving around my new neighborhood and decided to call. I explained my situation to Orlando and he was so nice, listened to my thoughts, asked me some questions, and said just to drop in and he would check it out. He came out and ran a complimentary scan for me, checked out the car, and answered all of my questions. Orlando's customer service was amazing. After I left and arrived home, I noticed that a center button on my Jeep rim had popped out. I called Orlando to see if it had popped out somewhere at the shop and sent him a picture. He said that he couldn't find one that matched at the shop, but that he had a few extras laying around that were slightly different and he would just give me one if I came by--I mean how rare is it that someone just gives you something because they have an extra and you are in need? Super rare. Can't say enough about how great his customer service made me feel and again, I will be exclusively getting maintenance on my car here.

For some reason, the cars that pull up are always in opposite directions so that each side of the pumps has a car facing in each direction; it gets worse when cars on one side are facing towards each other and the drivers have to thread the needle through to get past each other and then avoid the next mess of cars in the other lane. Once past that, trying to get out of the lot into traffic is the next segment of the gauntlet. The station is opposite the Post Office and down the street from the A&P and Chase Bank so motorists are U-turning all over for the length of that block of road like they're at a square dance. I really need to remember to fill up when in Jersey and avoid these small dramas.

I have gotten lower estimates but I think I rather pay a little more knowing I'm in good hands and I think everyone can agree with that. Now, the staff was very welcoming and very nice so I was talking to the staff about lowering my car and doing other repairs in the future and they basically told me that I shouldn't and that a lot of mechanics will turn away modified cars due to their geometry and needing a special lift.. but I am still going to haha, I'm a little stubborn so hopefully they will still service my car in the future and be my permanent mechanic going forward! They showed it to me while poking it with a screwdriver, trying to open it up more. I had to tell them to stop and not damage it further. He claimed it would blow out if I drove it more than a few miles and had to get a new tire from him. I had no intention of buying new tires at a gas station, so he charged me $10 for an "inspection" and claimed he couldn't fix it. I went to a reputable tire repair shop in Harlem who had a used tire in the right size to sell me, but before they put it on, they checked the tire to see what was wrong. It turned out that the slit was not leaking air at all, but an old plug (that had been applied at the BP a few months ago) was! They repaired it and assured me that the slit would not cause a blow out and that my tire was completely fine to drive on. I returned to the BP and told them what I had learned. The tire guy refused to take responsibility for it, but the manager returned my money and said he'd speak with the owner. I really hope he does, because this is about as disreputable as it gets. I do wonder if the very clean slit in the tread was even there before they took my tire off!
