In an old part of downtown, in a very old building lives this unique diner. The inside is oddly lit and perfumed in a way that made me wonder whether it was intentionally hiding odors, or perhaps it was just the smell of the spices. We sat at the counter and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Don't look too closely at all the clutter behind the counter. Food was good, and plentiful. Lots of tastes on the platters! It cost a star and could have cost two. It didn't seem there was any pride of ownership. Not only we're things old but simple elbow grease was not evident. What a cool place in Downtown Valdosta. I have only driven past this city from I75, for about the last 35+ years headed north towards ATL. Today for the first time i was coming from the coast headed straight west towards Thomasville. I am glad i looked up when i hit that intersection today. I saw the sign on the sidewalk and in the window that said "Falafel" and Mediterranean. Those are keys words for me to go check this place out, if i have the time. Today i did. Corner location in a downtown setting is unique enough. Parked in a parallel parking spot easy enough and walked right in. There's a long sit up diner-style bar, which i love. Theres also tables and maybe booths as well. Nothing fancy and has a diner type feel throughout the whole place. They have beer and wine i saw and i am not sure about alcohol. I was still driving thru so i didn't pay attention. The menu however is very Middle Eastern, Lebanese, Mediterranean, Greek etc. Food was over the top fresh. They took their time preparing my dish as there were only a few people there because of the odd time of like 3-4pm and it still took a little but to get my food. A good sign in my book. I loved everything and I ate everything. The Vegetarian Plate had falafel, grape leaves, feta salad, grilled pitas, olives, rice, and I substituted tabbouleh. If i lived in Valdosta I would come here once a week. Prices are a little high but everything is these days and they do give you alot. I had enough food to split it but i ate all of it. So I could sample different items. The falafel was hard as a rock. Didn't seem fresh. The humas was good. The very small side of tahini was tasty. Sorry. If you had the best babaganush. It didn't seem fresh. It was smoky. Which is acceptable. People prepare it differently. Salad was simple and fresh and vinaigrette was ok. The rice was clumpy and seemed old. The grape leaves, a fave of mine. Was so so. Also seemed old. I actually like mine cold. These were warm. Pita was ok. You can get better at Publix My friend ordered the lamb swarma. He said it was ok nothing to write home about. He likes scwarma... in New York that hangs in the windows. He rarely complains. . I took an order of baklava home with extra honey on top. It was nice. This was my first time eating here. Food was amazing. I had the Lamb Shawarma and so did my friend. My other friend had a Greek salad and the Tabbouleh salad he also ordered grape leaves and the lemon yogurt soup. We also had pita with hummus and the crème brûlée was amazing as well as the tiramisu. We all enjoyed sharing and tasting each others food. This little place was an excellent find! We ate here while traveling from Blue Ridge through Valdosta to Orlando. We were all very hungry and tired from traveling, and the restaurant did not disappoint. The owner was very kind and set a table outside to accommodate for the two dogs we had. He even gave them each water and a little rice and meat. The service was good and the food came out very quickly. It was all to die for: fresh, authentic, and worth the price. Unlike some restaurants, the pictures on the menu were accurate and showed the excellent food exactly as it came. The baklava was giant and quite shareable; the chocolate mousse rich and delicious. Mo's is a classic diner/lunch counter place. They serve the usual Greek/Mediterranean fare, but the food was way better than we expected. My companion had lamb shwarma which was great: garlicky with tender, perfectly cooked lamb, vegies, and unusual and really tasty julienned pickled turnups. I had a Greek salad with tangy lemon vinaigrette dressing which was excellent and included at least 3 kinds of interesting olives, as well as the aforementioned pickled turnups. A huge hunk of sweet, tasty baklava finished off the meal. Or so we thought.... As we were starting the baklava a guy came in with a bottle of wine and began shmoozing our server, Fay. He was a wine wholesaler who was trying to sell the restaurant a Greek wine. Mo, the owner came out to try the wine and after he had a few sips he asked us if we would taste it and give our opinions. It was good: smooth, rich, peppery and spicy. Mo is a charming, warm and outgoing retired college professor (We'll need to come back to get the whole story). We chatted for a while over the Greek wine and when we left, he gave us a takeout box with tasty pieces of pizza which I'm not sure was on the menu. Ingredients included sun dried tomatoes, lots of Greek-ish seasonings, mushrooms and truffle dust. If you see it on the menu get it. Delightful evening. Excellent food. Excellent company. We have a new favorite restaurant and a new friend in Valdosta. read more

Man what a let down after reading all the reviews. I went in and ordered the 3 kabob special and pita and hummus. It was $25!! I paid thinking that it was going to be amazing and I was ok with that... I get home and open the bag and almost lost my mind. The chicken kabob was 3 THREE! little nuggets that was 100% microwaved and the beef was about the size of a chicken nugget, the rice was hard. I was/am very disappointed. I really wanted to like this place, however.... We were excited to be able to get authentic Mediterranean food in Valdosta we're encouraged by the good reviews. Ordered a beef schwarma, lamb schwarma and a hummus basket. Meats were dry and the dressing needed to be seasoned. Very bland schwarma. Hummus also needed more seasoning. It was just chunky with tahini flavor in it. The fried pita chips had a cold oil mouthfeel which means they sat around too long. Please, fry them to order, or better yet, just serve fresh pita with it. Lemon soup was not done correctly. Traditionally it should be thickened with natural rice but they threw flour into it. There's a way to do that, but they didn't do it the right way. Tasted like flour in my mouth and had to return it, uneaten. I received no refund for this even after I asked. I have a strong Mediterranean heritage and culinary training and I was really rooting for these guys. I hope today was just a bad day, but if this is the norm, I hope they find a way to remedy their issues. read more
