I originally thought it was a one off but when we went back today it was the exact same experience. It's the most odd experience and you will walk away feeling like a burden to their service. This often happens when you don't let the noodles cool completely before adding the mayonnaise, which I can understand if you're in a rush. But, the flavor just wasn't there for me. The chicken katsu was different. Typically, the chicken is pounded & breaded. In this case, the chicken pieces were full on tenders. The katsu sauce was not at all what I'm used to - it's typically an almost gravy-like, sweet and tangy sauce. This tasted like some kind of soy sauce mixture. The mochiko chicken was okay. I had really high hopes but I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon.

I grew up in Hawaii so I'm always looking for good local food. When Mo Bettah's opened, I did my research to see how close they would come to actual local food. Then I went and ordered the Ekolu (3) plate. It came with Kalua pig, Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki steak, 2 scoops rice, 2 scoops mac salad. This is typically what we call a plate lunch in Hawaii. First the not so good. The mac salad had too much mayo in it. (Not sure if it was Best Foods) So it seemed too creamy for what I am used to. The rest was perfect. I love they did the 2 scoops rice instead of skimping and doing one. The Teri steak and chicken were grilled to perfection. The Kalua pig was tasty although a little wet from being kept in water. Pretty good for being a plate lunch only restaurant. Had to bring it home to eat so I could add my poi. read more

I had the lobster bisque wife had the potatoe. Ceasar salad was crisp and tasted great. The Chicken all la Jakers was crisp on the outside and so moist and tender on the inside. The sweet-sour pork was okay, it was hot and crispy. There was no color to anything: no peppers, carrots, or anything other than the celery and that colorless sauce. Visually, it was not appealing. Once I got past that, it wasn't bad. It hit the spot but didn't set off any flags -- good or bad. The Christmas ornaments on the ceiling are odd, but probably no odder than the music playing in May -- Jingle Bells on repeat -- until someone must have said something, because it stopped. It was all memorable.
