Absolute perfection. Dangerously delicious. Zero regrets. Ever. And the staff... I don't know who's in charge of hiring, but clearly the job description includes must be hilarious, friendly, and make you feel like family. Every visit feels like dinner mixed with a comedy show, and we are HERE for it. This was our first time here, we came to celebrate our anniversary. The location is on the smaller more intimate side so it's best to make a reservation. I found the decor quite cute and the place was very nice. Our server was attentive and had lots of information on the dishes and drinks that were served. The crab Louis salad was amazing. All of the seafood tasted fresh and not frozen. The dessert options were good and the one that we had was very tasty. For two people you're looking to spend about $400 or $500. So plan accordingly. It's an old railroad bunkhouse. So we got to watch about 11 people go to the toilet while making eye contact with us since we were about 15 inches from them lol. Heads up they added over $100 in fees since it was Father's Day. We talked to the kitchen staff and they said they always add 6% for the kitchen and 22% for the servers. If you're going for business and your company has a tip policy you will likely have issues. It's not reversible. If you're going with clients or something you should likely look elsewhere. We were just passing through Idaho Falls and decided to look up must-try spots, and I'm so glad we found D'Railed! Everything about our experience was fantastic. The steak was cooked absolutely perfectly--easily one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The flavor and tenderness were spot-on. The potatoes and asparagus were just as impressive, cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. You can tell a lot of care goes into each dish. The atmosphere was another highlight--small, quaint, and elegant, which made for a really enjoyable dining experience. If I had one small note, it would be that the steak was just slightly on the salty side for my taste, but it didn't take away from how great it was overall. For the want of a nail... a kingdom was lost, all for the want of a horseshoe nail. Insignificant items can escalate to major issues and reveal hidden things. A significant anniversary for my spouse and myself. We've always tried to go to fine dining establishments on such days, in many locations. We didn't want to go far afield this year, but saw D'Railed, which served A5 Wagyu (which we had never had) and appeared to be a "fine dining establishment", i.e. the type which insured everything would be a perfect experience, especially for such significant days. We made reservations well in advance, including that we were coming to celebrate an anniversary. We studied the website, menu, and planned our entire evening, as we always want to examine our last few years and what we hope for the future. We arrived on a Sunday evening, hours 5-8pm. We entered precisely at five and asked if we could be seated in a corner, after being offered a table in the middle of everything. We were the first there and presented our full order (including the A5 wagyu as the final offering) while saying we wanted to dine, so to bring out one item at a time with talk in-between. Appetizers, wine, whatever we felt we wanted. Price is not an issue for a special occasion. Seemed to be going quite well, and we enjoyed each item while celebrating ourselves. A few other tables were taken over that time, of course, but even for a small venue, there weren't many parties, which suited us versus a crowd. Then came the "horseshoe nail". Our A5 Wagyu was presented on a large wooden board. Seemingly nicely prepared, it had two small decorative slices placed on the piece itself to indicate it was medium rare (which we had discussed earlier, saying we preferred medium rare, while acknowledging the "chef decides" what is appropriate). And that was it. Small piece (of course, not an issue, it's A5 Wagyu), two decorative slices on top. On a big piece of wood. Hmmm... we had mentioned we were excited for this new culinary experience but had both mentioned to the server how the included bulb of roasted garlic was one of our favorite accompaniments to beef. The server had been quite solicitous up to this point. After presenting the wagyu, she quickly disappeared into the back area... (Kitchen? Not sure.) In hindsight, we believe that the kitchen hoped we didn't know there should be a bulb of roasted garlic as part of the entrée. My spouse had to walk to the back-room area to flag down our server. She said, "Yes?" It had a different tone from the earlier part of the meal. "Umm, isn't there supposed to be a roasted garlic bulb [a "horseshoe nail"] with the wagyu?" "Oh, we ran out." She started to turn away again, but saw our confusion given how we had tried to make them aware of our evening plans. "There weren't many reservations this evening, so the chef didn't make as many as normal." No apology, no concern. She turned away and left our sight. I guess they didn't care that we ordered immediately (strangely, our concern had been running out of the wagyu, not the garlic bulb, which is why we ordered it, so it would be reserved for us.) And from that point forward, our celebration became a train wreck. The server didn't return until the bill was presented. Our attention to our celebration had been distracted, as we realized D'Railed was not a fine dining establishment. The insignificant lack of a minor item escalated to more significant things. They had never really acknowledged we had an anniversary celebration. They did not seem to care. They seemed unprofessional, with no attention to detail. A fine dining establishment insists upon all the above, as their role is to appreciate and attend to their customers. A meal is more than the food. It is about presentation, meeting the customers' needs and desires, and creating an enjoyable experience. Ultimately, D'Railed appears to us to consider things the other way around, that it is our job to appreciate them, versus them appreciating their customer. For example, the business owner's responses to reviewers who don't praise the restaurant profusely appears to be mocking rather than accepting. This was almost three months ago, as I despise giving bad reviews. But as time has passed, we both realize that when we talk about our anniversary celebration, it all comes back to how it ended, versus what we enjoyed earlier, and how our celebration was D'Railed, probably for all time. I hate to give this restaurant a 3 star when most of the food and the service was excellent. However I can't increase my rating because of my experience. A five star restaurant would not make the mistakes they made as I detail below! My spouse and I were celebrating our 45 wedding anniversary on the day of the anniversary. We planned this in advance and made sure we had reservations well in advance. Our reservations were for when they opened at 5pm. We had been told it was one of the best restaurants in the Idaho Falls general area. For the most part the food lived up to this hype. We asked our server, Lyn, about the various options and told her we liked to dine and take our time between courses. Our desire to dine and take time caused one of the problems with our meal. But it should not have. To be clear, we split each course so we could both taste and not eat too much. Being "stuffed" is not fun! As our first appetizer we ordered the Tuna with real wasabi. Upon the recommendation of Lyn we paired this with a French Chablis by Christophe Patrice - 2021. It was a good paring. Next we had the appetizer Avocado Crab Louis which also paired well with the French Chablis. We ordered a Baracchi Toscana red wine because we knew we wanted to finish with the A5 Wagyu and it would also go well with the Seabass. So we moved on to the Chilean Seabass as our third course. So far everything was five star excellent... food, wine, and service! No complaints or star reduction. Last we ordered the A5 Wagyu Filet Mignon as we had told our server earlier that we would. We knew it came with a bulb of roasted garlic. It was also represented on the menu with the garlic. Now we love roasted garlic. We also like our steak rare. But we were told the chef would cook the Wagyu as it was supposed to be cooked. We had no choice. At the time we felt this was arrogant, but the restaurant has a good rating, the chef supposedly knew how to prepare 5* food so we allowed ourselves to be persuaded. Big Mistake! When our A5 Wagyu Filet Mignon came out it was cooked medium, it was dry, and there was no roasted garlic. We asked where the roasted garlic was and were told they ran out. WHAT? Our server knew in advance we were going to order the A5 Wagyu and we also loved roasted garlic. Early on we told her we were looking forward to the garlic as it would really compliment the Wagyu. At the prices asked ($120.00) for this course we were extremely disappointed. This should not happen in a five star restaurant ever! Over cooked dry beef and no garlic!!! The garlic would have moistened the beef. On our 45th wedding anniversary! We arrived when they opened! To be told they ran out of what we wanted when we made it clear early on is just plain bad planning? There is no excuse! Garlic is not so expensive that they can't roast enough for the evening. We were so disappointed and we told our server Lyn that we were. We did not send back the beef. After all the chef was arrogant enough to say he would cook it to his specifications the way it should be cooked and we had no say in the matter. Well, we will not return! And we will not recommend this restaurant. Being told we have no say in how what we order is cooked when we have definite preferences is just bad business in my opinion. My spouse and I have dined in fine restaurants all over the world, some of them being 3* Michelin restaurants. d'Railed in not a fine restaurant in my opinion as a fine restaurant would not make these kinds of stupid mistakes which anger customers. read more

80 year-old parents took us out for my father's birthday. Had wine and drinks, all was going well. As food began to come out the appetizer, a crab cake and salads were very enjoyable. However, the main course was delayed, not surprisingly three out of four of the entrées were cold. Suddenly service began to change and staff not as talkative nor attentive. We originally wrote a review on d'Railed finding the restaurant a little underwhelming. Not due to the quality of the food, but the lack of choices, i .e. seafood items. I have never had a restaurant owner reach out to me. Not only did he reach out immediately, he explained the situation in detail to us and invited us to come back again. We received several updates from him regarding what fish and when it would be in the menu. We had the blue fin tuna appetizer. It was absolutely delicious and the price ridiculously affordable! I ordered the lobster (it was large), my wife and sister ordered the halibut and my brother in law ordered a steak. Everything was amazing! We didn't have room for dessert, but we saw the table next to us get theirs and it was ginormous! Our server had a great personality and sense of humor. We were in a motorcycle trip up through Idaho and back down to Utah. I, as per usual, was put in charge of finding a place to eat near our hotel. I decided on D'railed. I love trying restaurants I can't go to anywhere else. I also love a good steak. This place is interesting as it is in an older home turned restaurant. Since we were riding in the heat all day, we opted for inside with AC. It is small, but it wasn't too cramped. The decor is fun and the staff is really nice. They were also fun. They joked around and had good conversations with us but still kept up with our food. This is a typical high-end steak place. The steaks come alone, and you order sides for the table. The brussel sprouts were so good that we all gobbled them up! They were the usual balsamic binegar and honey, but they also had a rouch of maple flavor from the maple syrup they added. It was a new combo for me but a welcome one. The crab deviled eggs were interesting. I've never had them before, and they were quite good. My husband and I both got the filet mignon and asked for medium rare. They came out juicy, with great grill marks and they were cooked evenly throughout to our medium rare request. Recommend you make reservations. I did mine at 5:00 pm for a 5:30 dinner. Small place that used to be a railroad crew bunkhouse. Very nice interior, clearly a fine dining place. Returned with the drinks and took our dinner order. Hint; read the small menu book, it explains the whole concept. Was shocked such a small place had Japanese A5 Waygu but they do. I've had it before so today decided on Australian Waygu in sirloin form. Also ordered the house salad with in-house ranch dressing. My side was the lobster fried rice. The place filled up but service did not slow that we co in is tell. Verdict: The steak was superb, tender and very flavorful. Temp was perfect and the serving dish came with half a roasted garlic head and a swirl of balsamic and both were perfect for the meat. Suggest if you like garlic, squeeze the roasted cloves onto your plate and mash them with your knife. You can then use them like butter on your steak. Lobster rice was good, not great as I never could identify any pieces of lobster but the flavor was there. My wife had the Australian Waygu filet which she said was the best steak she ever received from a restaurant. Desert was the banana foster offering, just make sure you are hungry. We shared it and still had a third of it leftover. Topping the meal off when the server brought my check and card was a long stem red rose for my Wife. Nice touch. read more

We came here for a work dinner, and everyone was surprised at the location and outer appearance of this little hole in the wall. But absolutely none of us was disappointed! The star of the show was my boss's wife's non alcoholic beverage (lemon drop) that came with a smoke-filled bubble on top. The server even humored us and made another smoke bubble for her. Also the cost of their food was astronomical compared to comparable restaurants in Idaho Falls. My husband and I had a lovely experience here, with great service and delicious food. Our meal started with an amuse bouche of lobster deviled egg, compliments of the kitchen. The egg halves were flavored with dill, topped with shredded lobster and served on little spoon-shaped dishes. Nice! For appetizers, we ordered the shrimp cocktail and the Caesar salad. Both these tasty dishes had a unique twist. The shrimp were grilled and served with a complex sweet-and-sour tomato sauce. The salad was topped with half a soft boiled egg and perfect, house-made croutons, crispy and light. My husband usually hates croutons, but he loved the ones at D'Railed. For entrees, we shared the filet mignon, lobster fried rice, and potatoes Romanoff, along with some fried Brussels sprouts and sautéed mushrooms. As other reviewers have mentioned, the tender filet melts in your mouth, and the flavor was enhanced by the buttery mushrooms. The kitchen was out of the brisket my husband requested, so they added bacon to the potatoes Romanoff, creating a decadently rich concoction that also went well with the steak. The only iffy dish was the lobster fried rice, which had a sweet flavor I didn't care for. We wanted a dessert to finish the meal, but we were too full for the brownie or bananas Foster. Our waitress recommended a somewhat lighter option, a crème brûlée cheesecake that wasn't too sweet or heavy. We loved the creamy texture and fresh vanilla flavor. We only wish there had been more of the delicious strawberry sauce on the side. Our servers were prompt and friendly, the chef came around to say hi, and the ambience was cozy and romantic. Like most of the other diners, we ate outside on the patio in a bower of trees and sparkling lights, with a flickering fire pit on one side and pots of flowers on the other. At the end of the meal, each lady received a rose. Prices are steep for Idaho Falls--you pay just as much here as you would at a steak house in Seattle. But for the total experience, it was worth it. Came here for our anniversary. Based on prices I figured it would be an upscale restaurant. The food probably is but the location and ambience definitely are not. Has a roadside bar feel with upscale food. Waitress was nice enough. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms app and it was very good. Main courses were sea bass and chicken and shrimp. Both were ok. Pretty "meh". We should have gotten the steaks as these were what was recommended to us. The chef brought out a small sampling of the wagyu steak and it was amazing. Important to note that everything is a la carte so sides for your meal cost extra. We got brussel sprouts and loaded mashed potatoes (have a specific name but can't remember). Again, just ok. Brussel sprouts were cooked very crispy and had a sweet sauce, which we personally weren't fans of. The potatoes were, well, potatoes. About the same as you'll get at any restaurant. Upscale dining to me is a whole package. This place unfortunately was not it for me. The service, the ambience, the location, but most of all the food. This restaurant is trying to hard to be trendy at the expense of focusing on food and service. Tre restaurant itself is very fun space and I had high hopes but the service and food quality was subpar at best. The lamb chop appetizer was good but not great and the clam appetizer was laughable... it was a dish of clams with what appeared to be an entire jar Alfredo sauce poured over it destroying any flavor from the clams. My steak was a salt bomb on a "try to be trendy cutting board " the piece of meat may have been the quality advertised but the preparation didn't do it justice. My friend had the salmon and said it was ok but a little on the dry side. My other friend had the king crab legs... the crab was good and was a good value for the portion given. Twice baked potatoes was another salt bomb and looked as unappetizing as it actually was ... asparagus was fresh but was also overdressed with what tasted like more Alfredo sauce (they must have cases of that stuff they are trying to get rid of) left over from the clams. Bacon Mac and cheese was flavorful but the macaroni was mushy from being overcooked. The Bananas Foster dessert was surprisingly good and the caramel and bananas worked perfectly together. The most disappointing part of the evening was the service unfortunately... considering the price point you should not need to flag down your server and ask to have dishes removed... I ate my clam stew off the same plate as my lamb. Zero check backs on food preparation or temps ... the staff stood in the prep area and visited with one another most of the evening.... If you want to be a fine dining restaurant you can't have fast food quality service. I know Idaho Falls does not have fine dining options and some people might not know what to expect but they certainly deserve better. read more

My son and his family (including 2 young children) just moved to Idaho Falls so they took us to this restaurant as a special celebration. I'm glad they did. As any good quality steak restaurant, the menu is à la carte. The starter and salad prices are pretty normal. The entrée prices seem higher than you might be used to but not when you consider the meat quality. The beef is either Australian or Japanese Wagyu. I didn't see any standard rated (choice, prime, etc) meat on the menu. The children both wanted mac & cheese with hot dogs. They were served first, about 20-25 minutes before the adults were served. I deeply appreciated this because the kids were anxious and hungry. I loved that they recognized the needs of the children and knew it would be difficult for them to wait. I ordered the Australian Filet Mignon (medium rare) and a side of sautéed mushrooms. My wife ordered the same cut but with the Brussels sprouts. I am not exaggerating when I say we both thought the meat was the best we've ever had. Filet Mignon is our favorite cut and we have had it many places, including some of the most recognized restaurants. This put them all to shame. The meat was cooked perfectly and almost literally melted in our mouths. It was super tender and light. I ate the whole piece and did not feel like I had a gut bomb. Simply amazing. The sides were also delicious and complemented the meat very well. I read a number of reviews of this restaurant. It seems some reviewers are unhappy about the service but if I'm going to spend a chunk of money on a dinner, I want it to last for awhile. I don't want to be rushed. If you go here, plan on taking the time to enjoy the experience. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Jay. He has quite the story to tell and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him a bit. This place is truly a gem. We have been traveling and stopped in Idaho Falls. Our daughter picked this place. Our waitress Lyn was amazing! The food is fine dining and the atmosphere was great! Chef Jay made delicious food for our entire table! Our daughter is a Celiac and we were impressed that she was able to have so many options from drinks to dessert!
