Went back to one of our old standby favorites. We've been to ML Tavern more times than I can count. It's always a very satisfying experience. My wife loves to go there for her birthday. All my siblings and spouses went for a family wide birthday party. Anniversaries are always great. And when we just feel like going out they always come to mind. We took good friends last night and they were thrilled. Couldn't stop talking about it. Our server, Yeri, was very pleasant and extremely efficient. He did a great job all night. But really, that has come to be expected. The entire staff is always excellent. I had the shrimp cocktail, which they are known for... great. Followed by a very interesting special. They were offering "Swordfish Milanese". I've never had fish as Milanese. Enjoyed it. My wife had a fantastic "Crab/Lobster Cake" served with lump crab meat on the side. First timer here! We were greeted immediately by a kind valet. He welcomed us and opened our doors. He told us to enjoy our dinner and gave us a smile. Our table was ready right away, even though we were 15 minutes early for our reservation. They had rose petals on our table and a signed happy anniversary card. Paolo, our server was amazing! He was attentive and genuine. He did a great job describing the specials and making recommendation when asked. Our appetizer was lobster escargot. It was delicious. I chose seafood paella for my entree. It had lobster, shrimp, chorizo, mussels and risotto with a tomato broth like base. It was tasty. Our table was cozy and several employees wished us a happy anniversary. The restaurant was clean, including the restroom. We were warned to save room for dessert. They provided a carrot cake slice with a candle as a compliment to our meal. The meal size was great. There was nothing to take home. Service was great and food is good but just not quite good enough to get five stars at this price point of a restaurant. A filet Oscar style came out with little flavor and over cooked. Valet parking on a snowy night is always nice. We walked in without a reservation and the hostess was a little frosty about that. Table for 2 was no issue as we were there before 6pm. There is an early evening special that includes a soup or salad, and the Caesar salad was truly fabulous. The croutons were house made and still warm from the oven. Bread and butter appetizer was over the top with pink salt and rosemary. Wine specials were well suited and the Chardonnay I chose was buttery and smooth. I let the server pick between the filet and chicken Milanese and ended up with the chicken. Lots of rich flavors going on and the side of mushrooms served in a cast iron pan made them stay hot and tasty through the meal. The capstone was dessert. The "Brookie" topped with salted caramel ice cream was a home run. Cookie, brownie, ice cream all mixed under shaved chocolate. We were seated in the patio area with a roaring fire and plenty of overhead heat. The large round chandelier was a nice touch in this rustic spot that seemed to bring home a cozy vibe. Celebrating birthdays are always a good time. Great food and service just make the experience exceptional! Had a reservation and we were not immediately seated which wasn't the end of the world. It was a busy Saturday night. The manager kept us abreast on the timing and how long it would be. Kept touching base and then made us aware when we were up. He thanked us for our patience and said he had something for the table to show his appreciation. Well from start to finish our meal was delicious. The lobster appetizer and the croutons on the Caesar salad were the most flavorful bites of the night. The peppers were a little spicy which I liked but not so much everyone else. We ordered from ML for a quick at home date night. We picked up within 5 minutes of the time on the order and the food was still hot/warm when we sat down to eat. I expected to get my steak craving satisfied but instead was left unable to finish. We ordered two of the 7oz filets, medium rare, with the standard butter. Both had portions (almost all of one, about half of the other) of meat inside that was disgustingly paste like. It fell out of the steak and had the consistency of pate or pre-chewed meat. Honestly almost gagged and had to spit it out. Not sure how this was cooked or what quality of steak it was to start, but we are never eating here again. Nice place that was very crowded when we arrived. It as a brisk cold evening and they offered to sit us right in front of the entrance. A person in our party appealed to the manager and he moved us a table a little farther away. I left my coat on for most of our stay as it was very cold. I understand piling people in, but no one should be seated in front of or very close to a constantly opened door during cold days. Our server was personable and knowledgeable about specials and the menu. Each of us chose steaks: 2 NY strips and one ribeye. Each steak was cooked exactly to order and crafted great. We shared a side of mushrooms that were excellent and full of flavor. I also tried the carrot-ginger soup and it was also very good. We had the fortune of dining at ML Tavern last Saturday 10/4. Our server was Rose. She was incredibly personable, kind and truly took care of our every need in a very efficient and timely manner. All of our food came out perfectly paced. The food was delicious! The oysters were fresh, the wedge salad was perfectly dressed, my steak and my husbands scallops were cooked to perfection. We were kindly greeted by all of the other staff members as we passed by on our way out and our Anniversary was acknowledged by all of them. We felt very recognized, special and taken care of. ML is our favorite restaurant to go to for special occasions. It is nice that they now offer an early bar menu with specials, but not when they actually charge you for the full entree price. The chicken in the Tavern Milanese needed a steak knife to cut and the lemon sauce was weirdly sweet. Where the Bees Knees cocktail was sour in the extreme. First time we went here was a 5/5 for sure. Amazing experience with friends. One of our favorites. Ambiance is amazing with a British colonial hunting art, oxblood leather, gentlemen vibes. Steaks are so good, truffle butter is a must, the salmon meal - wow!! Is expensive and similar to Hyde Park elite steakhouse (same business family). My party of 2 decided to make reservations for a Saturday evening. Our reservation was for 7:45pm, however, they didn't have a table available when we arrived. After about a 20 minute wait we were offered a high top even though we booked standard seating. There was no way we wanted the high top that was literally at the front door. Then they offered us another high top which was pretty at the front door and at the opening of the patio area, which also politely declined. We were finally seated in the patio area. Now this may have been nice on a summer evening but it was a November night in northeast Ohio! It was quite chilly and our table was placed very awkwardly, kind of in the middle of the floor. The fans were also on. Even though the table next to us was empty, and in front of the fireplace, we were told it was reserved. Our server, Stewart, took quite awhile to even acknowledge us, but we were able to order drinks. My companion enjoyed the expresso martini and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The bread was good but I found the butter much too salty. We ordered oysters as an appetizer and waited at least 30 minutes before they arrived. Our server walked past several times, as he was very attentive to his other tables. Finally he apologized for the wait and said the oysters would be coming out. It took almost 45 minutes and it honestly makes me think he forgot. The two of us had barely finished 8 oysters when our food arrived. I had the crab cake and lobster Oscar which was phenomenal and the reason for my stars. The lumps of crab meat and lobster was delicious. My companion ordered a ribeye and said it was cooked just as asked. The asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes were good also. The service is what was disappointing. We watched our server be very attentive to everyone but us! It was so bad that we asked another server to box our leftovers and get our check. Not to mention, not getting the seating we requested. Also the patio was so dim I could barely read the menu. We noticed that every table, but ours, had the small tea light but ours. I should start with highlighting the amazingly personal, professional, and kind, outstanding service by Johnathe, the highlight of this visit - he is a gem server you should hold on to. The space is very nice, a country club dining vibe, expected for the area, making it very cozy and friendly. Moving into food territory, everything we had was very good. Their rosemary salt roll is really great to start your meal. The oysters were super fresh, the lobster escargot a really creative appetizer. Both steaks - the filet mignon and the bone-in ribeye were very good as well, cooked to perfection and tasty. Finished with a really good raspberry sorbet, a perfect palate cleanser. Fine dining discussions rarely include ML Tavern and I am not sure why. Everything about this place is awesome. We visited last week on Thursday night, had a reservation for 8. We were seated immediately. Service really could not have been better. From what I saw, the restaurant appeared fully staffed and did not notice anyone around us having service issues. Food and apps were excellent. Everyone in our group loved their food and preparation. The menu is not overly creative. Great basic steak and seafood. Really enjoyed the stuffed peppers, Caesar salad, shrimp scampi, and all the starters. Entrees were likewise were incredibly delicious especially the lobster tails, filet, the salmon wasn't anything special. We got all the sides and they were pretty good, standouts were corn and the mushrooms. However, the service was extremely lacking, our server just didn't seem interested in our group. She seemed like her energy was lacking, didnt have an in-depth knowledge of the menu, nor did she know the market price of a dish or where the salmon was sourced from. She really didn't refill our drinks (though the bus boys kept our drinks waters filled), we probably would have ordered another bottle of wine.
