Sometimes there are businesses that you wish you could give 6 stars to... MKDS is one of those businesses. Outstanding level of service, fantastic follow-through, top-notch work. I'm a customer for life! During the summer, when my A/C started acting up, I gave Micah a call and he came right out. After trouble-shooting my issue he fixed the problem and we thought we were in the clear. Well, it turns out, fixing the one issue uncovered a few more (as it tends to happen). Micah was back on the job and had a stop-gap in place while he waited for new parts to come in. He was prompt, helpful, and responded quickly. He made sure we were not without A/C during some of the hottest weeks of the summer (not an exaggeration). Since this issue I had them inspect my furnace just before winter. This time someone other than Micah came out and was very friendly and honest. He answered every question I had with elaborate answers (which I really like) and finished up his work very quickly. We hired MKDS to replace a furnace in our basement. We called them and they came out very soon with no scheduling issues. They came and removed the old furnace, which was included in the initial price. They installed the new furnace within a day and there hasn't been any issues with the new one. Micah gave quick response from answering the call to coming out and diagnosing the issues. He was was well prepared and had the parts needed on hand to get our air conditioner up and running quickly. We have used MKDS for a few years. We have referred a ton of business as well locally. We called them to finish a job that was started . We never received a Return phone call after 5+ calls. They chose to screen our calls For over a week!!! They should have been honest if it was beyond their scope Of knowledge. Just too bad when a local Glen Ellyn company. Our job left unfinished. I contacted Micah today regarding my AC not working. He was very responsive and immediately set up a time to come out today within a few hours - on a Saturday. Other companies were only willing to come out on weekdays unless we paid an exorbitant extra charge. We definitely appreciated his quick response considering how hot it has been. When he arrived, Micah was very courteous and I appreciated that he wore boot covers in the house without even being asked. He diagnosed a freon leak and gave us the option to replace the freon and see if that lasts for some time versus the more expensive option of trying to find the leak right now - which would be a more involved job and we may find that it requires replacing part or all of the system. We decided to go with the cheaper option given our current financial circumstances, which Micah was very respectful and extremely understanding about. We will definitely call him again when we inevitably need our AC serviced again... whether that ends up being a few months or (hopefully) longer! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. We had an appointment for them to come out and check our air conditioner. My first hint should have been that they make appointments via text, which means they probably didn't even write it down. Then, when they didn't show up I naturally texted the same number they used to make the appointment. No return call or text. They just never showed. Very shady. read more

We have a boiler which serves 3 zones consisting of 7 cast iron radiators and 4 underfloor loops. So yeah, a bit complicated. We have had ongoing problems with getting the underfloor loops balanced and recently the balancing valves have been leaking. Proper balancing means you get even heat from all areas. The loops have never been balanced correctly since we had them installed 10 years ago - those guys did get the system better, but after a while we just accepted the limitations. We decided to try MKDS because of great reviews and their background in boilers, and it's turned out to be a great move. When Micah came out to correct the leaks, he saw that the circulating pump for the underfloor loop zones had been installed in the wrong position, causing problems for the mixing valve. After moving things around the entire system now seems to be balanced and running well for the first time in a long time - we'll find out for sure with the cold weather coming over the next week. From our own research, we know that loop systems sometimes need some fine tuning on the balancing when it's gets really cold the first time, and if we need that we know we can count on Micah (unlike the company that installed the loops). I should also mention that we had MKDS do a clean and check on the boiler, and they were much more thorough and did a way better job than the previous company. There are a couple of reviews here complaining about MKDS not getting back to them or having to text them. Well, they are a small company, they get very busy, so if you leave a message (verbal or text) and you don't hear back in a hour, just give them a bump. It's well worth the effort. I have worked with many trades people over the years and Micah is at the top of the list for professionalism and courtesy, and he just seems like a good guy. read more

We called MKDS to diagnosed our central air issue. Micah explained that the repair was either the blower motor or the control panel, and that either one would cost $500.00. He told us that he wanted to be sure which one it was before making the repair and asked that we call him when it the unit stopped working next time so he could be sure. It stopped working again a couple days later. We have called twice and have gotten no return phone call. We paid Micah $89.00 for the initial diagnostic fee and now we need to start over and call someone else. read more

Sent the information to a couple of contractors and what impressed me is that they are the only one who told me to turn off the system asap, before saying anything else. We discovered Micah after searching Yelp reviews and talking to neighbors and had him out to do a routine check of our heating system followed by a routine AC check a few months later. The heating was no problem. The AC however needed a little work which Micah was able to complete extremely quickly. The only issue was that the AC work took place when the weather was a little cold, so Micah had to come back out two separate times to deal with a couple of issues that weren't apparent when he first performed the work. He has not only been easy to reach, but also has been super responsive. I highly recommend his services to anyone in the area. He can't be beat and is a very good guy to work with! read more
