Nem Nuong (crispy pork spring rolls) & pho
    Ariana G.

I've been on a pho kick lately everyone since fall started. I was in the neighborhood and saw this place had stellar reviews so I said, why not check it out? I ordered the pork spring rolls and steak/brisket/meatball pho. The pork spring rolls were soo good and huge! I definitely had to take 2 home cause the order comes with 4 rolls. The crispy pork inside was well seasoned with a light sweetness. Highly recommend. The pho was fantastic! The broth was superrrr flavorful and really hit the spot. I got to see the owner engage with her customers. She greeted everyone and was so kind and grateful to everyone for dining at her restaurant. She had great energy and hospitality! So I understand why her food is cherished within the neighborhood.

Always love coming here to get our pho fix, it just gets the job done. You order via the kiosk and you don't have to wait too long for your entree. The mango smoothie is the absolute best and highly recommend! Prices are reasonable and tables are all first come, first serve.

I got a bun shrimp which was really good. The shrimp were well seasoned. The spring rolls were also pretty standard/good. I'd go back to try their pho and other menu items. They have a couple kiosks which is convenient. Also, it's a 10% discount if you pay with cash. Crew was really nice and there's a decent amount of seating.

We walked in and ordered at the kiosk and you seat yourself. The food came out quickly and they call your name. The banh mi was alright didn't have that much flavor and was a little cold. The Banh xeo or Vietnamese crepe was crispy and good. Not like other crepe I have, they grill their pork. It could have included more lettuce for us to wrap it in but overall this was good. We also got their avocado smoothie with boba which brings me back to my childhood. The ambiance inside is pretty nice and cute and only two tables by the window.

I love the outside signage and logo! It's very catchy and sleek designed. The food, VERY fresh and tasty. Prepared nicely and portions are generous. The peanut sauce was a nice complement to the fresh basil and cold noodles in the spring roll wrap. So good. The Vietnamese Cold Coffee was also delicious. Yes, Authentic! I couldn't tell the difference if I was in Vietnam or not. So excellent with the quality. I thought it would be nice to return and try their Pho, as it looks like that is their Hot #1 Seller. I would like to see them maybe spruce the place up a bit and just streamline it . Clean it and get rid of the "clutter". The chairs don't match and theirs odd placement of different decorations that don't match together. So simple to just clean that up and make it "fresh look", to match the Amazing Food & the Outside Sign. Both of those were awesome. I like that you can order at the kiosk. Again, strange decorations all around the kiosk. This place could get 5 stars soon I think. Either way- good food, nice people. Easy to locate. Marshfield Ave & Lincoln Ave, Lakeview Neighborhood. Mid block. East side of Lincoln Ave. across from Chicago Music Exchange. You must go and check the out, thank me later. Park Chicago App to park outside or CTA available

Self service spot - quick and easy! Great tasting pho and great portion size! Spring rolls were fresh, and had plenty of filling. I will be back 100%

There are a couple kiosks on the wall in the front to place your order. You can pay with card or if you pay in cash at the counter, it's 10% off total order. The food came out fairly quickly. The pho was good, broth was savory. I also ordered the pad thai dish which was alright - could use more flavor. The staff is friendly, restaurant was clean. Although we enjoyed our meal, I wouldn't recommend the drinks there. None of our drinks tasted right - it was either watered down, or not enough flavor. Paid street parking. We came late in the evening so we had no issue there.

Steak Pho and Pork Banh Mi Sandwich (w/ fries!)

Checking off the list for MK noodle's steak Pho featured on some of the best pho places in Chicago. Haven't had pho in a while but thought it was fairly standard. The broth is very simple and the steak wasnt as rare I normally like. After a few bites, it lacks the beefy depthness I've come to enjoy from a good pho. I was surprised to see fries when I order the banh mi. The sandwich is nicely filled and the pickled daikon/carrots are very good. Think I'd opt for the sandwich for taste and value. MK Noodle is self checkout whether you dine in or order take out. Your name is called to pick up and you bus your own tray. I do like this concept. Do note, take out has a fee (forgot what it is, maybe around $2). They have water stations and old magazines where you seat yourself.

They added a bulgogi banh mi. It's so good. I love the happy vibes here. The owner is very kind.

I may be biased because it is conveniently close to my apartment but it is insanely delicious, very fast, and makes great takeout. I love that they have really good pho, bahn mi, and bubble tea. They are also really kind and have brought my order out to me when I had my dog with me before. It's a really good neighborhood spot. And while the food is all a 8-9/10, the service makes this a 10/10

MK Noodle Pho is one of my favorite vietnamese restaurants in Chicago! The ambiance is very casual, kind of like a cafe vibe. You order from some self service kiosks up front and they'll call your name out. Their Banh Xeo with shrimp/pork is massive and delicious. It always comes with a lot of fresh greens and tasty fish sauce. I don't see banh xeo offered at many restaurants, and I think people may not be familiar with it. It's like a large crepe/pancake with turmeric for color and it's stuffed with bean sprouts, pork and shrimp. The batter is slightly sweet from the coconut milk. It comes with lettuce, mint, Thai basil, carrots, and cucumbers. Usually you rip a large piece of lettuce, load it with veggies, a portion of banh xeo and then dip it into the fish sauce. This is one of my favorite vietnamese dishes because it's so fresh and savory. It's listed as an appetizer but you can definitely eat it as an entree. FYI it can be a bit messy but so delicious. The shrimp spring rolls are delicious and massive too. It comes with a peanut dipping sauce. The pho is really good too, I enjoyed their ribeye pho with the house chili oil that's on each table. The broth is seasoned well, and made by cooking beef bones for 7 hours (per WGN news article/video). The ribeye is a bit more premium cost but I think it's worth it, it's very tender with the perfect proportion of meat to fat in each bite. And their house chili oil goes great with all of these dishes, it has a lot of flavor but it's not too spicy. The banh mi BBQ pork is everything I want in a banh mi, perfectly cooked BBQ pork and pork belly, crispy baguette, tasty mayo/pate, plenty of pickled carrots and daikon, and it even comes with fries! If you don't like cilantro you can ask for no cilantro. The owner is really nice and can help accommodate any food restrictions when possible. I've been here about 7 times and the food is consistently good!

Lovely casual place to have pho alone or in a group. Had the brisket and it was great! The staff is kind and welcoming. This spot will be in my rotation moving forward

    9. Banh Xeo. Great as an appetizer to share or to have as your main dish. Fresh and healthy for you!

Crispy chicken wings with caramelized fish sauce sounded adventurous but tasted familiar. These were definitely good but they're not mind blowing so I would probably skip them to try other things if you're on the fence. Oysters were so delicious but I hardly ever think they're not. Wagyu with lemongrass and a chili sea salt was simple but tasty. The grilled eggplant was yummy, paired with pickled shallots, fried garlic, and scallions. Definitely a good one for eggplant lovers like me. The veggie curry was good but probably the least favored of everything we had and couldn't finish it. But we made room for a little dessert! We went with the whipped rice pudding but had it without peanuts because I'm allergic. We didn't really enjoy it much. It was kind of bland and I'm guessing it might be because we omitted the nuts. It was sad to finish on a weak note.

Seeing as we once lived together on a Clark Street, why not dinner on this N Clark St? Following my clinical parallel park job, we entered this theatre of dreams. I'll recognize upfront my bias for sloped ceilings, but this spot ticks that interior box. Sierra Mist colored lighting to make the drinks hit harder and fake skylights that unironically went crazy. Not to mention, this Croatian meets Vietnamese love story was jamming Americana all night long. Soon enough I was white-knuckling the table to keep my cool as the medley proved to be somewhere between erotic and nostalgic. One could rescue a newborn from a burning building and it would pail in comparison to the respect our waitress lavished onto us. Reason being, this lovely lady spent the entire night responding with "yes chef" to any of our interactions. In all fairness, it's understandable to assume our party of mustached men were chefs. Heck, one of us got a diet cola, isn't that a tell too? I say all this to make known the cult status that woman will have in my heart till I breathe my last breath. As for the menu, what a divine collaboration. Sequestered into some back pages lay a section for Balkan fare that served as a platform for the married-in man to showcase his swagger. Truth be told it's this food selection that brought me in and that red pepper spread that makes me stay. This skilled in-law got even more time to shine on the beer list, with my dark Bosnian beer showing every reason why. Tasty lil thing. All things considered, this is still a Vietnamese restaurant. Pho did its thing and embraced the mega serving size stereotype it so firmly holds, but it cannot sit in the poll position here. Brian, my dear friend, voiced that his girlfriend swears by Sunset's crispy noodle. Well folks, Tessa certainly knows ball! While still respectfully conversing through our meal, Brian joined the clean plate club alarmingly fast. Based on my swapski sampling of his platter I can understand why. Clear betting favorite, certified hustler, it's what to get y'all. As we wrapped our meal my other dear friend at the table, John, accidentally stated something that must serve as the slogan for Sunset Pho Caffe. He said, "It elevates the past." By golly it does and I'll raise my glass to that!

They had good reviews and based off pictures, the place looked delicious! I wasn't in the mood for pho (even though the weather was perfect for hot noodle soup) but the Hainanese chicken rice caught my eye. It was a super cute spot, small but luckily we were able to snag a table. There are only a handful of tables and they are pretty close together. It was decorated just as expected, like a Bodega of course! a trendy, hippy little shop. I think the concept is pretty cool. 5 stars based on Bahn mi, cha gio and iced coffee I ordered today…read more I must have been part of an early crowd. When I arrived, there was only one other table dining, which made it GREAT for me. It's a decent size hall with 10+ table arrangements, making it pretty great for a group to enjoy their lunch. It also featured a couple of kiosks for ordering, which I thought was a bit easy to miss, since it was tucked away in the left corner when you walked in. It looked like there was also a cashier available to take orders, if you miss the kiosks. I've seen places where they simply do not have anyone at the register to take orders, but that wasn't the case for Lotus. Before deciding to visit them today, I had an impression that their menu choices were very limited compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I was used to. I'm certainly not complaining, since I'm usually a huge fan of select "specialty" approach in restaurants. That's why I decided to order one of their Bahn mi, where I normally would have chosen pho for my first visit. And it didn't disappoint. First off, the size of the sandwich was good. I've had it where they charged a buck or two less, but they weren't big enough to be a full "lunch" portion. Lotus' size, I thought was decent. I had ordered one of their cha gios just in case the sandwich failed to fill me, but I think I would have been okay without it. Cha gio was super good tho! Oh, and the iced V-coffee was good, too. Typically, they'll bring out the coffee before your meal is ready, probably because they're ready-made in the morning and all you'd need to do is pour them over ice. I of course, have known legitimate mom n' pop places, where they'll actually bring out coffee as it's brewing in Phin (stainless steel coffee filter) and a glass of ice with condensed milk, so you can wait for the coffee to finish brewing and pour yourself one, which is what I *always* prefer. Not here, but no big deal. You can usually tell how good the food is going to be by trying their iced coffee. Even though V-coffee isn't known for using "incredible" beans, the balance of the strength of coffee and condensed milk *does* make a big difference in your experience. I felt this place had it correct! I'll definitely come back myself and even bring coworkers or my family to have their Bahn mi again. What I'm not sure about is whether I want to try their pho or bun. First, they don't offer too many variations, so I'm stuck choosing from just a few. (For example, I usually go for "brisket-only" or a combo of brisket and rare steak, but they didn't seem to have those options. Granted, it's possible they'll make it happen if I asked) Secondly, I think they're a couple bucks more expensive than what I would like to pay for a bowl of pho. We'll see.

I didn't try the hot pot, but the group one table over had it. Speaking of the other group, so many varied entrees came out of the kitchen - it was cool to see more than just phở. The waitstaff is quick... almost to the point of impatient! But never problematic. Be aware that dishes fly out of the kitchen as they are ready. One bowl might come out way before the others. An appetizer might come out last. It just whatever is ready (it appears). Also, their takeout game is strong, judging by the amount of trays ready to go and people coming in to carry-out.
