I got to come here on a Friday night. It was 8:30pm. When you first walk in, you'll see the ordering machines. Then after you order, seat yourself anywhere that's open. My friend and I secured our seat first while we waited for people to finish ordering. Once there was an open machine, we order two pho and one spring roll. We also got an additional bowl of noodle and soup since one of our friends ate dinner earlier. We also ordered two Thai teas. To start, the Thai teas were the perfect ratio. It had the sweetness and you can still taste the tea. Afterwards, we waited for them to call our name so we can grab our food. They don't seem to go in the order that you ordered so keep that in mind. Two other tables who ordered after us got their food first. Once we got our food and took our pictures, we started to eat. We walked in and ordered at the kiosk and you seat yourself. The food came out quickly and they call your name. The banh mi was alright didn't have that much flavor and was a little cold. The broth is very simple and the steak wasnt as rare I normally like. After a few bites, it lacks the beefy depthness I've come to enjoy from a good pho. I was surprised to see fries when I order the banh mi. The sandwich is nicely filled and the pickled daikon/carrots are very good. Think I'd opt for the sandwich for taste and value. MK Noodle is self checkout whether you dine in or order take out. Your name is called to pick up and you bus your own tray. I do like this concept. MK Noodle Pho is one of my favorite vietnamese restaurants in Chicago! The ambiance is very casual, kind of like a cafe vibe. You order from some self service kiosks up front and they'll call your name out. Their Banh Xeo with shrimp/pork is massive and delicious. It always comes with a lot of fresh greens and tasty fish sauce. I don't see banh xeo offered at many restaurants, and I think people may not be familiar with it. It's like a large crepe/pancake with turmeric for color and it's stuffed with bean sprouts, pork and shrimp. The batter is slightly sweet from the coconut milk. It comes with lettuce, mint, Thai basil, carrots, and cucumbers. Usually you rip a large piece of lettuce, load it with veggies, a portion of banh xeo and then dip it into the fish sauce. This is one of my favorite vietnamese dishes because it's so fresh and savory. It's listed as an appetizer but you can definitely eat it as an entree. FYI it can be a bit messy but so delicious. The shrimp spring rolls are delicious and massive too. It comes with a peanut dipping sauce. The pho is really good too, I enjoyed their ribeye pho with the house chili oil that's on each table. The broth is seasoned well, and made by cooking beef bones for 7 hours (per WGN news article/video). The ribeye is a bit more premium cost but I think it's worth it, it's very tender with the perfect proportion of meat to fat in each bite. And their house chili oil goes great with all of these dishes, it has a lot of flavor but it's not too spicy. The banh mi BBQ pork is everything I want in a banh mi, perfectly cooked BBQ pork and pork belly, crispy baguette, tasty mayo/pate, plenty of pickled carrots and daikon, and it even comes with fries! If you don't like cilantro you can ask for no cilantro. The owner is really nice and can help accommodate any food restrictions when possible. Their ordering kiosk is to the left when you enter. Although the machines encourage cashless payments if you prefer to pay the traditional way (cash) just go straight back to the counters and place your order. The place is spacious and can easily seat 30. The restaurant is in a busy section of street in Roscoe Village and scoring a metered parking space down Lincoln avenue is hit or miss. You place an order when you enter on a machine. You have several options to modify your pho order such as adding more soup, noodles, removing cilantro, etc. When you pay cash, you get 10% off. My steak, brisket, tripe pho was delicious. The soup was refreshing and delicious. It didn't taste salty. It tasted similarly to a place I frequently visit in argyle. The restaurant has tablets you can order on near the door, but they're also happy to take your order at the counter. The staff is very friendly, in the best way. Happy to find a great pho spot on the west side! I thought argyle & chinatown were the only places I could go for good pho but haply to find this in Roscoe Village. One of my absolute favorite Pho places in Chicago. MK Noodles offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that is perfect for a bowl of comforting pho on a chilly Chicago day or after a long night out. I personally like ordering their Combo Pho so that you can try their various kinds of meats (I love their meatballs). What makes their pho so so delicious is their broth. Their broth is packed with flavor--not too sweet or salty. I seldom drink all of the broth in pho, but I always finish the broth at MK Noodle! If you're feeling really hungry, be sure to order a side of noodles! Besides their pho, be sure to try their HUGE Banh Mi sandwiches that are packed with meat and veggies.
